Re: [users] Extended SQRT function in Calc

2007-01-29 Thread Andi Permadi

Just change the x y with Cell Address
You have value of X in A2
and value ofY in B2
for the x^-y result just write = A2^-B2
it will result the value You need.

Hello!

I need to calculate x ordinal square root in calc. I'm not sure, is this
translation to English is right, but the formula could be =x^-y (this
formula results in mistakeous number). I know this can be calculated
easily with mathcad, but I think it should be possible to do this with
calc, too.

Any suggestions, how to do this calculation?

Re: [users] OpenOffice v1.0.2 will not upgrade to v1.1.4

2006-04-11 Thread Andi Permadi
I do not know what is happening with your system. It may be because they
create soffice softlinks in the same place /usr/bin/. If You install OPen
office from rpm binary. You may use this command as root:
 rpm qe openoffice
to remove the older instalation. and try to install the newer version.

2006/4/10, Keith Haslip [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

I am attempting to install OpenOffice v1.1.4 in a separate directory
from OpenOffice v1.0.2, but get an error message stating v1.1.4 is
 already installed.
My system is AMD Athalon powered running Red Hat Linux v9.0 with updates
 from Fedora Legacy.
Due to a recent hard disk crash, I was forced to re-install linux on a
new hard drive. As part of that re-installation, OpenOffice v1.0.2 was
 installed in directory /usr/lib/openoffice.
After the linux re-installation, I tried to upgrade OpenOffice v1.0.2 to
v1.1.4 from a CD from linux central. The upgrade failed so I then had
to re-install OpenOffice v1.0.2 from my Red Hat linux v9.0 installation
CDs. The re-installation was successful but when I then attempted to
install OpenOffice v1.1.4 in an entirely diffrent directory from
OpenOffice v1.0.2 I get the error message mentioned above. The error
message suggests file sofficerc is the problem but I am unable to fix it.
The OpenOffice v1.1.4 linux setup program insists v1.1.4 is already
installed and offers to repair it, but the only version of OpenOffice
I can find is v1.0.2 which is working fine but I would like to upgrade
 to v1.1.4.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Re: [users] Word 2003 formula's in tables not viewable in OO 2.0.2

2006-04-10 Thread Andi Permadi
Formula in MS Word document are saved in MS Equation 3.0 Object Link
Embedded (OLE). Looks like can be viewed only if MS Equation is installed.
I suggest to safe the file in rich text format (*.rtf) if You want to open
it in other system.
The OLE Object will be converted into bitmap.

2006/4/11, Andrew Gray [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

Microsoft Word 2003 documents that have formula's inserted in a table
such as might be used for the sum column in a invoice, are not viewable
or present when viewed with OpenOffice Writer?

I see the table and any text or numbers in cells that do not contain a
 Microsoft Formula.

But can't see anything in the table cells that contain a Microsoft Word
 2003 formula ??

I am presently using OpenOffice 2.0.2 under fedora core 5 but is the
same in OpenOffice 2.0.2 on Windows XP.

Anyone know if this is a known bug and likely to be addressed?

Otherwise very happy OpenOffice user many thanks to the developers

The easy way is to use File Wizard Install new dictionaries.
 Indonesian is in the list.

You should know that the dictionaries need to be reloaded with 2.0.2 as

Re: [users] Openoffice installation problem

2006-04-04 Thread Andi Permadi
Hello,
I think You should download the latest Open Office version from
http://www.openoffice.org. I don`t know the problem with the dictionaries.
Last year when I use 1.1.4, I downloaded the and extract the Indonesian
dictionary manualy from the website and edit dictionary.lst to add my own
dictionary.

The dictionary.lst is located on instalation directory like:
C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 1.1.4\share\dict\ooo in windows
please check dictionary.lst
the content is something like this:

# List of All Dictionaries to be Loaded by OpenOffice
# ---
# Each Entry in the list have the following space delimited fields
#
# Field 1: Entry Type DICT - spellchecking dictionary
# HYPH - hyphenation dictionary
# THES - thesaurus files
#
# Field 2: Language code from Locale en or de or pt ...
#
# Field 3: Country Code from Locale US or GB or PT
#
# Field 4: Root name of file(s) en_US or hyph_de or th_en_US
# (do not add extensions to the name)

HYPH da DK hyph_da_DK
HYPH de DE hyph_de_DE
DICT en GB en_GB
HYPH en GB hyph_en_GB
DICT en US en_US
HYPH en US hyph_en_US
THES en US th_en_US_v2
DICT it IT it_IT
HYPH it IT hyph_it_IT
HYPH ru RU hyph_ru_RU
DICT th TH th_TH
DICT sw TZ sw_TZ
DICT sw KE sw_TZ
THES cs CZ th_cs_CZ_v2

Please make sure that the file like the name I highlight above exist in the
same directory.
I don`t know if this will help. I recomend to get the latest version from
the website.
That is my way to fix the problem. Any one have better idea?

Re: [users] [moderated] YOU MUST GIVE A SUMMARY HERE

2006-04-03 Thread Andi Permadi
Hi,
I assume the ID is primary key.
We need an ID to make sure the one record is different with other. So if
You will not have more than one same record. For egsample You have 2 friend
with same name James Cook. One is Your college friend and the other is Your
working partner. They coincidentally live in the same house with the same
phone.

To make the difference between both of them, we use ID (we call it primary
key).Same reason with if You have social security number. In the old days
the dbase format permit You to make a database without primary key but now
it is a must.

But still You can use the name as primary key.

PS: Sorry my english is not so good

Re: [users] export wmf-images?

2006-03-29 Thread Andi Permadi
Hello,
I see that You try to export embeded wmf files in your MS Word document into
wmf file.

You can do this:
1. select and copy that picture in OOo Writer
2. Create a new file in OOo Draw and paste.
3. Select the picture and save it into desired format (*.wmf, *.emf, etc)

If the embeded file inside the Word docs in vector format not bitmap, You
should have the *.wmf option.

to export the real wmf-images as .wmf-files?

Re: [users] Installing new dictionaries

2006-03-20 Thread Andi Permadi
I think it is because the dictionary files that You have downloaded is
corrupted. Maybe You can try to download it once more and do the installing
wizard once more.
Or if it doesn`t work you can:
1. Extract the dictionary file in the directory where dictionary file
located ( see Tools Option Path )
2. edit a file with name dictionary.lst
3. You will see the pattern
add the line like the pattern above.

Please correct me if I am wrong
