Please see: https://ovirt.org/blog/2017/12/host-deploy-customization/

Hello Didi and al,

- I followed the advices found in this blog page, I created the exact
same filename with the adequate content.

- I've setup the cluster type to firewalld
- I restarted ovirt-engine
- I reinstalled a host

I see no usage of this Ansible yml file.
I see the creation of an ansible deploy log file for my host, and I
see the usual firewall ports being opened, but I see nowhere any usage
of the /etc/ovirt-engine/ansible/ovirt-host-deploy-post-tasks.yml file.

- I added the debug msg part in the ansible recipe, but to no avail.
- Huge grepping through the /var/log of the engine shows no calls of
this script.

Thus, I see no effect on ports of the host's firewalld config.

What should I look at now?

It looks like you hit the following bug:

  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1549163

It will be fixed in 4.2.2 release.

I believe you can meanwhile remove line:

  - oVirt-metrics

from file:

/usr/share/ovirt-engine/playbooks/roles/ovirt-host-deploy/meta/main.yml

Thank you.

You can overwrite the console ip at cluster -> console. Try to put there
the external ip and have NAT correctly set. This should work.

[ovirt-users] CORSFilter Web Admin

2018-02-27 Thread Zip
Is there a way to make CORSFilter work for webadmin?

I have tried using the:

engine-config -l | grep CORS
engine-config -s CORSSupport=true
engine-config -s CORSAllowedOrigins=*
service ovirt-engine restart

A look at:

engine-config -l | grep CORS

Looks like support is only for REST API?
- CORSSupport: "Enables CORS (Cross Origin Resource Sharing) support in
RESTAPI.²

I have also tried adding to
/usr/share/ovirt-engine/engine.ear/webadmin.war/WEB-INF/web.xml

   CORSSupport

org.ovirt.engine.core.utils.servlet.CORSSupportFilter

   CORSSupport
   /*

But that just ends up in Server Errors https://pastebin.com/Q1JECzSw

Thanks for any help ;)

Re: [ovirt-users] Start VM automatically

2018-02-27 Thread Fabrice SOLER

Hi,

We want to install ovirt for every school in Guadeloupe (~70 schools)

Each school has an internet connexion with a basic physical router (no vpn).

We have bought one physical server for each school.

We have installed an ovirt engine on our central site where we want to
manage all the node which are in the school.

In first, for the tests in laboratory, I have installed a node behind a
routeur. The routeur forwarded all the traffic from the ovirt engine to
the ovirmgmt ip address (NAT).

It works but I cannot have access to the VM consoles : my Spice client
try to access directly to the node private IP address. Is there a
solution to resolv this ? In ovirt documentation, I read "Spice Proxy"
and  "Websocket Proxy".  Could these features answer to this problematic ?

In the ovirt engine, is it possible to provide a NAT address to the node
? then the VM consoles coud work.

So, I give up the above architecture and move my ovirtmgmt ip address
behind a VM routeur which has a tunneling IPSec to our central site. The
access to the VM consoles is resolved but I discover that the VM does
not start automaticaly whithout the engine (like vmware does).

I hope you understand my problematic.

Sincerely,

Re: [ovirt-users] Can't move/copy VM disks between Data Centers

2018-02-27 Thread Fred Rolland
Hi,

Just to make clear what you want to achieve:
- DC1 - local storage - host1 - VMs
- DC2 - local storage - host2

You want to move the VMs from DC1 to DC2.

What you can do:
- Add a shared storage domain to the DC#1
- Move VM disk from local SD to shared storage domain
- Put shared storage domain to maintenance
- Detach shared storage from DC1
- Attach shared storage to DC2
- Activate shared storage
- You should be able to register the VM from the shared storage into the DC2
- If you want/need move disks from shared storage to local storage in DC2

Please test this flow with a dummy VM before doing on important VMs.

Regards,

Freddy

Hi Lionel,

Sorry for the delay in replying you.

If it's possible from your side, syncing the data and destroying old disk

In addition, it seems like you're having this bug:

The relevant part is:

2018-02-27 12:54:56,909+05 ERROR
[org.ovirt.engine.core.dal.dbbroker.auditloghandling.AuditLogDirector]
(VdsDeploy) [719d5f5d] EVENT_ID: VDS_INSTALL_IN_PROGRESS_ERROR(511),
An error has occurred during installation of Host uoi_node2: Yum
Cannot queue package dmidecode: Cannot retrieve metalink for
repository: ovirt-4.2-epel/x86_64. Please verify its path and try
again.

Please check/share yum repos on the host. What happens if you run
there 'yum install dmidecode'?
It might be a specific bad mirror, or a bad proxy etc. You can edit
the repo file to point at
another specific mirror instead of using mirrorlist.

Re: [ovirt-users] API endpoint for a VM to fetch metadata about itself

2018-02-27 Thread Ondra Machacek

Yep, you can search for a VM using many attributes, for example to
search for a VM using IP address:

 https://fqdn/ovirt-engine/api/vms?search=ip=1.2.3.4

Here you have more search parameters you can use to find a VM:

https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/admin-guide/appe-Using_Search_Bookmarks_and_Tags/#searching-for-virtual-machines

OK, that's a great place for me to start. However the problem is that
all my post-install tooling is now running on a VM that knows nothing

based on something like a MAC address or the IP itself?

The FQDN is listed right in the basic information of the VM quering the

   /ovirt-engine/api/vms/{vm_id}

You can find all the information about specific attributes returned by
the API here in the documentation:

[ovirt-users] ovirt-ansible-modules vs ovirt 3.6

2018-02-27 Thread Николаев Алексей
Hi community!  Is it possible to use ovirt-ansible-modules with ovirt-engine 3.6 api? I'm trying to obtain SSO token by ovirt_auth. And get error:"The response content type 'text/html;charset=UTF-8' isn't the expected JSON". However, everything works fine with ovirt-engine 4.2 api. ___

But how do we add custom rules in case of firewalld type?

Please see: https://ovirt.org/blog/2017/12/host-deploy-customization/

Hello Didi and al,

- I followed the advices found in this blog page, I created the exact
same filename with the adequate content.

- I've setup the cluster type to firewalld
- I restarted ovirt-engine
- I reinstalled a host

I see no usage of this Ansible yml file.
I see the creation of an ansible deploy log file for my host, and I see
the usual firewall ports being opened, but I see nowhere any usage of
the /etc/ovirt-engine/ansible/ovirt-host-deploy-post-tasks.yml file.

- I added the debug msg part in the ansible recipe, but to no avail.
- Huge grepping through the /var/log of the engine shows no calls of
this script.

Thus, I see no effect on ports of the host's firewalld config.

What should I look at now?

Thank you.

Re: [ovirt-users] After upgrade to 4.2 some VM won't start

2018-02-27 Thread Arsène Gschwind

Hi,

I would like investigate what went wrong during the Cluster
Compatibility update on running VMs, for sure the workaround by creating
new VM and attaching disk works great but i think it would be
interesting to know what went wrong.

I've tried to find a way to create a dump of the VM config to be able to
make a diff between old and new one to see what is different but without
any luck so far...

Any idea how to create such a dump?

Thanks for any help.

Is there a way to do some kind of diff between the new and the old VM
settings to find out what may be different?

Thanks,

Skylake-Client does _not_ have AVX512 (I tried now on a Kaby Lake Core
i7 laptop). Only Skylake-Server has it and it will be in RHEL 7.5.

Re: [ovirt-users] Start VM automatically

2018-02-27 Thread Martin Sivak
Hi,

we are considering the feature and its many angles:

- starting without the management using local storage (
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1166657)
- starting without the management with shared storage (
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=817363)
- starting the VM via the management running as Hosted Engine (
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1325468)

All three cases have their pain points eg: which host should start the VM
and how do you protect against split brain?

If you would be so kind, please describe your use case to the relevant RFE
bug so we can consider it when planning the feature. And stand assured that
we are thinking about how to implement this properly.

Best regards
