Re: [SOGo] Re: TB 3.1+Lightning 1.0b2 (Inverse Nightly)+CalDAV via https: Calendars disappear

2010-09-08 Thread Dominique

 Wolf,

We encountered the same problem with a mix setup of TB 3.0.x and TB
3.1.x on WinXP and Win7.
Both use the same nightly build of the SOGo connector with the standard
Lightning for TB.
In TB 3.0.x events created in the calendar stay available after restart,
in TB 3.1.x they disappear. In both cases they appear correctly in the
Web base version of SOGo.
We decided not to use the Inverse version of Lightning as it does not
allow us to connect to Google calendars at the same time. I am not sure
what we are losing from the standard lightning version.

Thanks for looking at my issue, Mark.

I did use the Inverse Nightly for Lightning togther with Thunderbird 3.1.
So I have to install connector and integrator as well in order to
overcome the problem?

Actually, we got it working with TB 3.0.x, and the rest of the
configuration you mention:

- WindowsXP
- Lightning 1.0b2 (standard, not Inverse edition)
- sogo-connector-3.102pre1.xpi

TB version 3.1.x creates the same problem you describe - disappearing
events in calendars.

Downgrading from TB 3.1 to 3.0 does also fixes the problem.
What does the Inverse edition of lightning offers that is not in the
standard edition?

You are installing the integrator also right? (and configuring for your
server..) you need all 3 plugins.

I don't have any issues with dissapearing events or tasks - Can you
elaborate further? Do these show in the web interface once you have
created in tbird?

Can't comment on google calendar, as I don't use it. Makes sense that
the 2 plugins conflict though, as it is bad to have more than 1
thing trying to sync at the same time. This would bring in the
possibility of the google cals breaking SOGo cals and vice versa.

 Actually no.
I understood that the integrator was not a required piece, but rather an
alternative to the connector. So, one could install one or the other.

Inverse would be able to confirm what each part does exactly, but if you
want the full package you need all 3. As far as I understand it though,
connector does the address books and integrator does the cals (aswell as
adding SOGo add/remove buttons in both and setting server config?) - so
reverse of what your saying.

Re: [SOGo] Re: TB 3.1+Lightning 1.0b2 (Inverse Nightly)+CalDAV via https: Calendars disappear

2010-09-08 Thread Wolfgang Sourdeau

I understand this is complex so here is a hopefully clear explanation:

With TB 2:
- SOGo Connector provides the CardDAV and GroupDAV addressbooks
functionality + ACL handling for CalDAV calendars
- SOGo Integrators provides "integration" with SOGo and implements 2
aspects of that integration:
 - it make uses of certain non-standard DAV requests for handling
subscriptions and access rights to calendars/addressbooks
 - it provides a mean for a sysadmin to automate the installation of
certain extensions (related or not to SOGo) and to "push" certain
configuration settings

- Lightning provides calendaring ability to Thunderbird

With TB3, the only difference is that the ACL code, initially in SOGo
Connector, has been moved to the Inverse edition of Lightning as this
code really pertains to calendaring.

Please note that we are likely going to merge SOGo Connector and
Integrator in the future to reduce confusion and for the sake of the
sanity of our happy customers :).

Re: [SOGo] Re: TB 3.1+Lightning 1.0b2 (Inverse Nightly)+CalDAV via https: Calendars disappear

2010-09-08 Thread Dominique
Just to be sure of what I was doing, I tried various combination of TB,
Lightning (Std and Inverse), Sogo Connector and integrator.
Our environment runs both SOGo and Google Calendar, so both have to work
at the same tome, no other options.

Under TB 3.1.x
With Lightning STD (1.02b), Google Data (0.7), Sogo Connector
(3.102pre1) : Address Book OK, Google Calendar OK, SOGO Calendar Events
+ Task disappear after being included through TB and TB Restart.
Calendar Events + Tasks do appear in SOGo Web page
With Lightning Inverse(1.02bpre0..), Google Data (0.7), Sogo Connector
(3.102pre1) : Address Book OK, Google Calendar Not OK, SOGO Calendar
Events + Task disappear after being included through TB and TB Restart.
Calendar Events + Tasks do appear in SOGo Web page

Under TB 3.0.x
With Lightning STD (1.01b), Google Data (0.6b1), Sogo Connector
(3.102pre1) : Address Book OK, Google Calendar OK, SOGO Calendar Events
+ Task OK. Calendar Events + Tasks do appear in SOGo Web page
With Lightning Inverse(1.02bpre0..), Google Data (0.6b1), Sogo Connector
(3.102pre1) : Address Book OK, Google Calendar Not OK, SOGO Calendar
Events + Task OK. Calendar Events + Tasks do appear in SOGo Web page

The integrator, adapted as per the user manual, does not change anything
to the calendar issue under any setup.

So basically, and until the SOGo connector is fixed to work correctly
with other extensions in TB 3.1, it's the downgrade route for us.
Welcome back TB 3.0.x

Re: [SOGo] Re: TB 3.1+Lightning 1.0b2 (Inverse Nightly)+CalDAV via https: Calendars disappear

2010-09-08 Thread Martin Lehmann

 Hi Dominique,

I've also problems with SOGo in combination with other calendaring
systems like Google. I reported this bug months ago with the 1st
pre-release of plugins or TB3.x but it still seems to exist.

The problems exists if you use the SOGo-Connector plugin. If you only
use TB3.x and Lightning STD there's no problem.

One way to get it running with TB3.1 is to enable "Caching" for the
Google calendar. I think it's a problem introduced through the SOGo
plugins which seem to require caching of the calendars even of foreign
calendars. As I remember right I had to play a little bit, delete old
profile and restart a few times but than it worked.

Now I'm running TB3.1.3 with Lightning Invers, SOGo Connector and SOGo
Integrator (all from nightlies). Running only SOGo Connector was to
troublesome as it doesn't work good with Lightning STD.

The only problem with this solutions is that the Google calendar is
marked read-only nearly after every reboot and you've to edit calendar
properties if you want to add/change events in it.

Hope that helps.

Hm, I didn't have the problems with disappearing events. That worked
always good also with TB3.0 and 3.1

But as mentioned I had to play a little bit to get Google calendar
working. It's some time ago but if I remember right the solution was to
create a new profile or remove the cache.sqlite. Try this out.

And ENABLE caching for Google calendar. That's very important!

Your other question was how to enable google calendar with caldav: for
details use google's search. There you can find good descriptions.

For the main calendar you can use this URL:

Extensions for Thunderbird 3.1 can be downloaded from:

http://inverse.ca/downloads/extensions/nightly/

You can see all events and create some. You won't be able right now to
edit existing events from GMail CalDAV calendars but that minor nit will
be fixed tomorrow.

I've just pushed a fix that makes GMail CalDAV calendars work with the
Inverse Edition of Lightning, together with the SOGo Connector and
Integrator extensions.

Extensions for Thunderbird 3.1 can be downloaded from:

http://inverse.ca/downloads/extensions/nightly/

You can see all events and create some. You won't be able right now to
edit existing events from GMail CalDAV calendars but that minor nit will
be fixed tomorrow.

Just grabbed the latest nightlies. Now when I get an event from
stranger's (non SOGo) calendar, I get the Accept / Decline / Tentative
(yeah!)

When I get an event from a SOGo user I get "This message contains an
event that has already been processed" -- it would be nice if I got the
Accept / Decline buttons. Interesting, when I click on the "1
invitations" at the bottom right of TB, I get a popup with the options
to Accept / Decline. Maybe the email could have a link to this pop-up if
not the buttons themselves?

When I get an invitation from an foreign calendar that I
subscribe to (via calDav), I get "This message contains an event that
has already been processed" but no option to accept / decline either in
line or via the invitations box or that calendar (since the event isn't
in my calendar, I'm just subscribed to the organizer's calendar.

 Hi Ludovic,

I installed the nightlies from today but it still doesn't work.

I also created a complete new thunderbird-profile and installed the
nightly sogo extensions and nothing else.

Same effect. It doesn't work!

It's possible to create and delete google events but it's not possible
to edit them.

Anything else I can try?

Thx

Could you tell us if there're new nightly extensions which could fix

try wether this bug is fixed.

 Still doesn't work :(

Tried today with the latest nightlies of connector, integrator and
sogo-lightning.
First I tried with my normal TB-profile and then with a newly created
TB-profile. Both don't work.

I can create and delete Google-Events but not edit existing.

Tested under Win7 x64 and latest TB.

Re: [SOGo] Re: TB 3.1+Lightning 1.0b2 (Inverse Nightly)+CalDAV via https: Calendars disappear

2010-10-19 Thread Martin Lehmann

 Now it does ;-)

I don't know since when it works but today I found one problem which
caused the editing problem:

The enabled email-reminder in Google is the problem!!!

Details:
===
I've both email- and alarm-reminders enabled in my Google calendar by
default for new events. If both reminders (alarm+mail) are enabled you
can't edit the event by double click on the event. You can enter by
double click but if you change something you can click on "save and
exit" and nothing happens! The event isn't saved.

Now, delete the email-reminder for this event (the alarm-reminder can be
used!) and click on "save and exit" and all works as it should.

Another detail:
=
If you edit the event directly with a simple click on the event you can
only edit the "subject" (and not description or place) but this works
also with email-reminders enabled!

Very strange!

Now, that I know the problem I can live with it but that's not a very
nice solution.

Greetz,
Martin
