I use symlinks

-bash-2.05b# l /var/vpopmail/etc
lrwxr-xr-x  1 vpopmail  vchkpw   13 Nov 15 21:59 tcp.smtp ->
/etc/tcp.smtp
lrwxr-xr-x  1 vpopmail  vchkpw   17 Nov 15 21:59 tcp.smtp.cdb ->
/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb

What exactly is in your tcp.smtp files?

Here is my file. Try adding the 2>&1 to the end of yours.
#!/bin/sh
exec /usr/local/bin/softlimit -m 200 \
tcpserver -l0 -v -H -R 0 110 /var/qmail/bin/qmail-popup \

 By the way what does

[vchkpw] -ERR aack, child crashed

2002-12-01 Thread m bolaria
hi. I'm getting the error "-ERR aack, child crashed"
whenever i try to telnet to port 110 and check the
mail for a user created through vpopmail. Below is the
description of the software and configuration i'm
using:

Software:

Qmail-1.03
Vpopmail-5.3.8
Openldap-2.0.11

Vpopmail Configuration:

Vpopmail was compiled with the following options:

./configure --enable-ldap=y --enable-roaming-users=y
--enable-tcprules-prog=/usr/local/bin/tcprules
--enable-tcpserver-file=/home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp
--enable-logging=v

Startup script for smtp and pop:

#!/bin/sh
/usr/local/bin/tcpserver -x
/home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb -c 499 -u 515 -g 514 0
smtp /var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd
/var/qmail/bin/auth_smtp /usr/bin/true &

/usr/local/bin/tcpserver -H -R -t 2 -c 500 0 110
/var/qmail/bin/qmail-popup reports.comsatmax.com
/home/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw /var/qmail/bin/qmail-pop3d
Maildir 2>/var/log/qmail/poplogs &

The vpopmail setup is working fine to the extent that
i can:
Add users to ldap using vadduser
Add virtual domains to ldap using vadddomain
Delete users and domain etc.

Qmail-LDAP is also working fine as qmail is able to
deliver mail to the added virtual domains.

I experience the mentioned problem when i try to
telnet onto port 110 of my qmail-vpopmail server and
check a user's mailbox.

% telnet localhost 110
Connected to localhost
Escape character is '^]'
+OK
user [EMAIL PROTECTED]
+OK
pass secret
-ERR aack, child crashed
Connection closed by foreign host

I've checked the rules database as i had found a
mention to the rules database being corrupt as a
possible cause for this. But, the problem still
remains. And what is a bigger problem is that even
after explicitly enabling logging while doing a
'configure' on vpopmail, i don't get anything in the
logs regarding this problem. Please help me out with
this.

thanks
pankaj.

127.0.0.:allow,RELAYCLIENT=""

The difference are the '\' being stripped off.

Sure. But I'm under the impression that ezmlm under some circumstances
will understand this automatically (at list creation of at submission time
I don't know, and I don't have a vpopmail install at hand to check) and

Local part is

away.it-ciumilatu-subscribe

This is "documented" in an environment variable which ezmlm seems to
check.
Therefore your 'theory' about the need to put 'prepend' part into
'inlocal' too is absolutely correct and the reason why it 'sometimes'

[vchkpw] Announce LDAP-Patch-5

2002-12-01 Thread Jens Jahr
Hi List,
this is my fifth attempt to make the LDAP-Code
more robust. I didn't release my
 fourth-version,because it contained some bugs.
Note, this is not an incremental patch. It includes all my previous patches.

This is a major update to the LDAP-code. It
 contains serveral new helper
functions.Of course I know vldap.c is not the place to add general
functions, but I did this to avoid huge patches overall the vpopmail-code from
which I do not know wether they are accepted.

These functions are security related to extremely avoid buffer-overflows by
 design.

 - safe_malloc
 - safe_free
 - safe_strdup

I am very interested in you opinion !!
My patches are all tested and are used in a production environment.
 You are
welcome to give them a chance.
 Download:
 http://www.tiski.de/linux/patches/vpopmail/patch-ldap-5.gz

Copy it to you vpopmail-dir, gunzip and apply it:
 patch -p0 < patch-ldap-5

This patch is against vpopmail-5.3.8 but it should apply cleanly against
vpopmail-5.3.9. I do not quite know who is the LDAP-maintainer at inter7.
So I hope this is the right address to post my patches.

 Changelog:
 - Works with OpenLDAP-2.1.x
 - Add sort-patch
 - Major code clean up
 - Support for LDAP-error messages in all LDAP-related functions - do not just
 quit silent
 - Avoid buffer-overflows by design
 - Code is much more readable
 - Fixed several compiler-warning concering pointer-reference and type
 casting

Cheers
Jens
