I would also delete the veritas registry key to ensure a fresh install.

I've gotten this but I can't exactly remember how I fixed it. I would
try: Reboot, Delete everything in C:\Program Files\Veritas and run the
.msi installer file not the setup.exe

Hi all,

Anyone experience while installing NBU 6.5 Window Client on
Window2000SP4 machine, during validaing install process, the
installation failed and an message saying the process was interupted.

We check the event viewer of the machine and we saw an error message
saying cannont connect to server.

This is the only win2k SP4 machine that is having this problem, the rest
of the machines are ok. Strangely enough, i've tried installing NBU6.0
client onto it and it went through but when i tried to upgrade it to
NBU6.5, it failed with the same error message.

Regards

Re: [Veritas-bu] Disc Staging Area Full

2008-08-26 Thread Martin, Jonathan
I run several scripts that manually prune my DSSUs and DSUs of unwanted
images. Forget the catalog, just run bpexpdate with the image switch
and use the _ directly on any file you find on the
drive. Make sure you drop the extension. All my scripts parse the
directory directly, I don't even bother querying the catalog first. You
will get an error something like "entry does not exist" if you try to
expire an image that does not exist in the catalog.

Thanks fellas.

I tried the catalogue method first - and while it did return some
images, nowhere near as many as I know are in the disc staging areas.
But nonetheless, I expired those.

As I mentioned earlier, this came about through a synthetic backup snafu
- and first stage of fixing the problem I just cancelled the
differential job writing to disc; this couldn't have orphaned the images
on disc could it?

Or do I have to now manually find/identify the old images and use
bpexpdate as suggested?

[Veritas-bu] Jobs 196'ing at midnight (6.5.2)

2008-08-26 Thread Jorge Fábregas
Hello everyone,

After I installed 6.5.2 I noticed all jobs 196'ing at midnight (even when the
next day was a runday). This is a known issue for people running 6.5.2 and
6.5.2a

My question is: is this a bug ? Or is this simply how it's going to be from
now on? (and thus you'll have to check "Retries allowed after runday" for
previous behaviour)

Thanks,
Jorge

We've tested it to DSSU and it works just fine!

I am trying to run some BMR tests in our lab and am having difficulty
installing the BMR boot server on a linux host. I have a windows master so the
cd for that will not hold the BMR boot server package for linux. Can someone
tell me where to get the BMR boot server software from?

[Veritas-bu] sgscan cannot see robot after library power cycle

2008-08-26 Thread bubbwe

Is there anything in the path that could have lost communication to the robot?
In my case when the robot is rebooted we sometimes lose it from the decru
appliances we have in line. A reboot of the decru usually fixes it but I would
also look at the san switch everything is zoned into if you have a san to be
sure the robot's wwn is logging in to the switch.
