Fast ballpark figure could be (amount/backup window ) /(0.7 *netcard throughput)

Be aware this a very rough number, which needs to verified by using the server 
sizing/backup planning guides

How is the performance if you run backup of the media server it self to the new 
library ?

Thinking if that is poor the problem is between the media server and ESL library

Anything to see on SAN switch ? 

If both LTO4 and LTO5 is connected trough the same HBAs, you can have situation 
where the LTO4 is taking up all the fiber bandwidth at concurrent backup to 
LTO4  LTO5

 I would suggest looking at the drive it was using and seeing if there is

 I have gone through all settings on the ESL, cannot see anything, found 
 nothing to research, but I cannot sustain this sort of throughput!
 
  
 
 Yet, I cannot quite understand why this is happening.

From this it seems that node B has an issue with loading the tape

I would try the same operation with robtest in volmgr/bin from node B and mt -f 
device file status to check

Try to create the volmgr logs under volmgr/debug and put verbose in vm.conf

Sometimes a manually start of ltid from the prompt can give an indication of 
the problem

My guess from what you write is that B and C is communicating properly with the 
robot

 Setup a regular flat file type backup for Node B and tell the policy to use 
 Node B as the media server. Kick off the backup and the job starts but sits 
 there Mounting for hours. I kill it...cycle Netbackup on both the 
 client/media server and the Master/Media. I check bp.conf file, I check 
 tpconfig, I check a bunch of stuff and no such luck.
 This is a new setup, master/media server works and runs perfectly. Node B and 
 Node C work perfectly as long as they are not set to use themselves as the 
 media server.
 
 What am I missing?

We a mix of jobs in our 7.5.0.4 netbackup setup. At time of the problem there 
simply was not any jobs started after a specific time even though all services 
and bpps output looked normal.

Have not reported it to netbackup support as we frankly do not have much faith 
symantec support

 And we have an eeb to help with nbpem failing to schedule. But we are not 
 totally out of the   woods. 
 We  wonder how many others are seeing these issues.

This often caused by the shadow area being too small. 

I would check the VSS messages in the application event log and volsnap 
messages in the system event log

The 7.5.0.X version also have a problem with DSFR

I had him recreate the reverse lookup pointers for the machines that had the 
vnet_cache issue. The ssh connection to these machines also seemed to benefit 
from the reverse lookup

 removed the reverse lookup zones
 
 Took a day or two after the change before the vnet entries appeared in the 
 problems log.
