[VFB] QUOTE FOR THE DAY
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home. [VFB] Re: Your first fly you tied
I guess I was about 10 years old when I saw some flys in a display case at my local sporting goods store in Union City, N.J. So I went home and got some pigeon feathers and some of my mom's blue and red threads and proceeded to make my very first fly. I still have that fly today and I always wanted to be a fly fisherman. My friends and I always used spinning gear and it wasn't until I moved to Phoenix, AZ. and joined a flyfishing club. A San Carlos Apache Indian taught me how to tie. phxflyt...@cox.net A Freudian slip is when you say one thing but mean your mother. - Original Message - From: John C. What was your first fly that you tied? Do you still have it? Do you still tie that same pattern and use it for fishing. My first fly (I'll have to post a picture of it) was a Mickey Finn Streamer w/ Peacock tied over the top. I still have it displayed in a case in our front room. People once and awhile will ask about it. It was the first fly that a beginner fly tying kit instructed me to tie. Just started tying a few years ago. It was a blood worm from the beginning of Randall kaufmann's little beginning fly tying booklet. [VFB] Re: Your first fly you tied
hahaha. I remember when I first came to this group. Had no money to even buy a starter kit, so I build a vise by drilling a hole into the bottom of a cast iron skillet, putting a alligator clip on a bolt through that hole. Then, making bobbins out of old coat hangers, straws, and tape LOL.. And used my wife's sewing thread of course, Chuck - Original Message - From: Alan Di Somma To: vfb-mail@googlegroups.com Sent: Saturday, December 20, 2008 10:16 AM Subject: [VFB] Re: Your first fly you tied I guess I was about 10 years old when I saw some flys in a display case at my local sporting goods store in Union City, N.J. [VFB] Did someone actually pen this phrase?
. There is a phrase going around, and I can only paraphrase it: The average thing a trout eats is fuzzy, brown, and 5/8 long. Something like that, anyhow. Does anyone recall someone, who is credited, with the description? What is the exact wording? Appreciate any response, thanks. [VFB] Re: Did someone actually pen this phrase?
Wes, I know that this phrase is in our random quote base on freestateflyfishers.com I did get most of these quotes from Jimmy D Moore. He may be able to attribute the author. --- On Sat, 12/20/08, Wes Wada wada@gmail.com wrote: From: Wes Wada wada@gmail.com Subject: [VFB] Did someone actually pen this phrase?
