2015-07-12 Thread KEITH PASSANT
Good afternoon all.
So far I have flies from Martin, Rick, Al, Nev and myself. Mine are the best as
you would expect Tony has said that his will be in the post Monday, Rene
has said his are ready to go too but has had a few problems.
I have heard nothing at all from Don or Mike and Reuven.

Can you let me know if you are still interested in being part of the tribute or
have folded.
Look forward to hearing from you allCheersKeith

Birdie fly plate?
| KP : May 27 12:00PM -0700

 Hi all,
I know I am just lurking these days but this got me out of my hole.
This is a great idea. And as several folk have already said presents one
problem. Getting it to Mrs Burgess a. Unbroken and b. So she doesn't have a
customs bill.
So... how about I meister it here in the UK and frame it. I
will not deliver it but get it delivered by courier insured. I don't like
to do the bereaved bit. My nuts are too small!

Just need numbers of intended and a way of covering costs not that they
would be huge. I have done some framing flies and take various levels of
care but most turn out ok!!
This one would receive the utmost attention to detail. I would go with a
square or oblong frame not round. Positioning is easier.
As for the IOFF well I don't have a list of members but am fairly sure
Birdie was not a member.
So let me have your thoughts but more importantly if you are in don't hang
around because I think we need to get it done quickly so she understands
the significance of it all to those that corresponded with the man.
Over to you folks
Keith

GREAT idea, Keith. That makes the most sense of anything.

No he wasn't. And the more I have thought about it, I don't feel
including the list of IOFF members is such a good idea, even making
Brian an "honorary" member. Why? Because it was all done in jest and
was written quite humorously. I don't think a person would be able to
see any humor in it, having just lost her husband to a long and bitter
struggle with cancer.

However, the fly plate from his closest friends could be very meaningful.

Just my own tuppence worth.

 Hi KP:

That would solve the major logistical problem since you are located in the UK
and I know you from way back when. I have no problem with a certificate or
whatever from the IOFF to Birdie as recognition. The other alternative is to
include a photo lab copy of the photo of Birdie & his daughter. The photo is a
little dark but could be made slightly lighter and more vibrant with Adobe
Lightroom or a similar app. The photo lab could probably do this.

Thinking about it Al you may well be right on the certificate. So I would
say forget that idea.
Nev the photo is a good shout. If you wish you can email it and I will have
a play with Picassa and use it as a focal point in
the centre.
Are we going to limit the number? After all this subject got me out in the
open again so may also do so with other lurky types.
I ask because this will be the factor in frame size.
Any fly you fancy as long as it fits the frame ( NO 17/0 hooks Don :-) 15/0
are fine ;-) )
So there you go. I will tie a fly on a salmon hook Spey style.
Cheers for now

Thanks to all for their recommendations - the harford house fly sounds like
a winner, but i'm confused in the picture how you have two colors of foam.
The instructions seem to imply just one color of foam? Maybe I'm missing
something obvious, when reading the instructions?

Thanks,

Instructions are for one color foam. For two color I get the sticky back
foam and stick the two together. Also, there was a pack of thin 1/mm
multi-color foam at the dollar store the other day and putting the 1 mm
together with a 2mm sticky back worked well too. If you have any questions

Good afternoon all.
So far I have flies from Martin, Rick, Al, Nev and myself. Mine
are the best as you would expect
Tony has said that his will be in the post Monday, Rene has said
his are ready to go too but has had a few problems.
I have heard nothing at all from Don or Mike and Reuven.

Can you let me know if you are still interested in being part of
the tribute or have folded.

Look forward to hearing from you all
Cheers

Birdie fly plate?

Hi all,
I know I am just lurking these days but this got me out of my hole.
This is a great idea. And as several folk have already said
presents one
problem. Getting it to Mrs Burgess a. Unbroken and b. So she
doesn't have a
customs bill.
So... how about I meister it here in the UK and frame
it. I
will not deliver it but get it delivered by courier insured. I
don't like
to do the bereaved bit. My nuts are too small!

Just need numbers of intended and a way of covering costs not that
they
would be huge. I have done some framing flies and take various
levels of
care but most turn out ok!!
This one would receive the utmost attention to detail. I would go
with a
square or oblong frame not round. Positioning is easier.
As for the IOFF well I don't have a list of members but am fairly
sure
Birdie was not a member.
So let me have your thoughts but more importantly if you are in
don't hang
around because I think we need to get it done quickly so she
understands
the significance of it all to those that corresponded with the man.

I don't think a person would be able to
see any humor in it, having just lost her husband to a long and
bitter
struggle with cancer.

However, the fly plate from his closest friends could be very
meaningful.

Just my own tuppence worth.

Hi KP:

That would solve the major logistical problem since you are
located in the UK and I know you from way back when. I have no
problem with a certificate or whatever from the IOFF to Birdie as
recognition. The other alternative is to include a photo lab copy
of the photo of Birdie & his daughter. The photo is a
