  Don't get all upset sweetheart,
British customs will Tax Tax Tax if they get the chance. (+ collection fees)
$10 is too small an amount.
I don't mind paying tax on what I buy (errr, actually I do mind) to keep but
these flies will be sorted and returned to the swap entrants.
If you want to try explaining Fly Swap to British civil servants, be my
guest
I'm pleased to see Buggs is alive and well.

This really sounds like an International Swap.
Wish I were in it just to see how so many different tyers from so many
different countries will tie the same type of fly and all tyed the same
style.
Sure hope one of you guys puts the pictures up on a web site some where.

Thank you,

[VFB] Re: FIRST Traditional Winged Wet Fly Swap

2009-07-07 Thread Neville Gosling
I found this swap to be quite a challenge as I have not tied winged wet
flies for a very long time. I experienced some difficulty in placing the
beard hackle or collar without crowding the eye and sometimes the wing did
not go as planned. You are correct, it is a lost art (at least for me).

I found this swap to be quite a
challenge as I have not tied winged wet flies for a very long time. I
experienced some difficulty in
placing the beard hackle or collar without
crowding the eye and sometimes the wing did not go as planned. You are correct,
it is a lost art (at least for
me).

I try every year to go to Montana/Wyo/Id.  Which we do in September.
This year I had meetings in Idaho in May so I got an extra treat.  I
actually caught the salmon fly hatch.  That was something.  I also
fished the Beaverhead, Warm and Big Hole.  I love the Park
(Yellowstone).  So getting up there is always regenerating for me.

Iain, I will be sending two separate Altoid tins in the same envelope each
clearly labeled First or Second Traditional Winged Wet Fly Swap.

Are you sure that $3 is enough to cover return postage for both tins?

Should the outside of my manila envelop be labeled Fishing Flies? Or will
this cause concern to customs?
