inside a movie-style player window that is 400 x 300. Change the width=
and height= specification of your player object to fit the size of the
video. Be sure to include room for the player controls.

For 320 x 240 video use width="320" height="240" but add more pixels to
the height to include the controls, so width="320" height="300". The
height is currently fine, and I don't really think the black borders
are that bad. If you ever plan to have any widescreen video, then your
viewers will be accustomed to the 16:9 ratio of the screen. Good luck
with your project!

The properties of the video itself tell me it's 400x300.
When I resize the player dimensions smaller, it just makes
everything smaller, and the black borders are still there.

Re: [videoblogging] Re: Vlog Newbie needs assistance!

2005-10-02 Thread Beth Agnew
This is a bit of a problem with Windows Media Player. If you right click
to open the context menu and check the Properties, it will give you the
specs of the player view, not of the video itself. It resizes itself
width-wise to whatever value you set, but height has to be correct or
things get cut off. Remy's got it beat, now, but I wanted to just follow
up with that bit of info for the archives in case someone else runs into
this.

[videoblogging] Unstopable Violations?

2005-10-02 Thread andrew michael baron
Here is a link I found of videos someone uploaded to Vimeo of Paul
McCartney on his current tour:
http://www.vimeo.com/clip=8968

They are short little harmless clips, yet you are not legally allowed
to record and distribute content taken from a concert like this.

The videos seem to have been taken from a mobile phone.

Think of how MANY people used their mobile phones to take video or
used small video cameras that they got in to record the concerts.

Most of these people are likely not digital video enthusiasts, but
just use their camera for little clips like this for themselves and
maybe a few friends.

Now that its becoming more easy and more option are avil. to upload
the clips like pics, it will be impossible for the record labels to
go around and take all of these clips down.

[videoblogging] Re: Vlog Newbie needs assistance!

2005-10-02 Thread LeanBackVids.com
Yeah, that is annoying but it is not nearly as bad as when you go to a
vlog's homepage that has every posts loading an embedded video. That
is cause for an instant click on stop and back.

Most blogging software supports a post summary and a post body. We
use the summary on all non-post pages as well as our feed. It
includes a photo and teaser text that link to the post. The post body
is displayed only on the individual post page and includes the
embedded video and the same teaser text, along with an extra content.

Oh, and we use a JavaScript function to write out the video code
because it helps to avoids invalid XHTML.

I'm working on building a separate CMS to allow extra content to be
associated with WordPress posts. For example, I'd like to associate a
video, a photo thumbnail, a larger photo, amazon products, etc. The
cool part is that the hand-coding of photos and embedded video could
be dynamically generated from the new CMS. Rather than build all this
into WordPress, it seems much easier to build it in parallel.
