Well, here it is again.

I remove the first files as the video quality was not that great.

Nothing being perfect, the sound is not as great as the first time
(still shooting from a camera), but the video quality is just
almost perfect, even in full screem mode!

So there it is: a brand new intro, a brand new Cannes part 1 and
within 2to 3 days, Cannes part 2 :) (out of 3).

Still open to critics.

[videoblogging] Re: Blip converts to flash? Did I miss something?

2006-03-25 Thread David Howell
Recently I've been making larger widescreen videos and uploading to
Blip. The original size of last video that I uploaded was 480 x 270
and in Quicktime format. Checking the file that plays/displays on
Blip, it's been converted to half that resolution for MOV and an odd
resolution for FLA. The Flash file just looks horrible and pretty much
plays like a slide-show. I was told that Blip is resizing videos to
320 x 240 so I can only assume that the transcoding to Flash for this
video went wrong somewhere.

If I look at the media permalink, it is the actual Quicktime video
that I uploaded. So if one wants to link the file from their site,
make sure you use the Media Permalink so that you show what you had
originally created.

[videoblogging] Can You Play My Videos on Your Ipod?

2006-03-25 Thread gottadiva
Hi Guys,

Someone commented that their ipod will not play my videos. They are
embedded quicktime videos with an RSS feed, so I'm not sure why they
can't play it.

Also a couple of folks have asked that I make my videos larger. I keep
them small for loadtime. Do you think that keeping them small really
helps, or do you think that I should start making them larger?

Can you visit:

And see if you can play the two homepage videos on your ipod?

2006-03-25 Thread kelly belly
None of your videos copy over and play on my iPod.

It looks like that you use the Sorenson codec to encode your videos.
The only Quicktime movies that will play on an iPod use the MPEG4
codec. If you want your videos to be playable on the iPod, you need
to encode them using MPEG4.

Re: [videoblogging] Re: Blogger is starting to wear on my nerves. Question re:moving videoblog

2006-03-25 Thread Richard Show

Actually, you can import your whole blog, including template into wordpress ... I did it and they looked identical ... there's an option for importing blogs and blogger is an option ... the problem I had, was that I actully, just wanted to import my posts, but wanted to use a new wordpress template, but the option for changing templates didn't seem to have any effect after I imported the blogger stuff, so I started all over and re-created all the posts
... RichardOn 3/24/06, missbhavens1969 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
Bummer about my template. I love that damn thing. Why can't I take it with me? Someweird code thing? Ah, well. No, no more pre-fab templates for me, so I won't go the freeWordpress route. Thanks for all the info!
Bekah--- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Jen Simmons [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: If you want to move up from blogger, I suggest wordpress. You'll need
your own webserver space, and the bravery to try some scary-seeming installation steps (that in the end aren't bad at all) to get wordpress onto your server space. Moving all your old posts from blogger to
wordpress is easy -- which is cool, because you don't have to start over or retype everything... all your old posts are moved over + retained. As for the templates, no, you can't use a blogger template
for anything but blogger. You'll have to pick out a wordpress template. Perhaps that's a place to start -- go surfing for a wordpress template (called a theme) and see if there are any you like. You can modify
them easily by just swapping out images (masthead, background etc.) More complex modifications are pretty hard and something most people don't do. Adding / changing the links in the sidebar, etc, is super
easy -- easier than with blogger 'cause you do it in the blog adminstration world (in forms) not on the template/theme documents. Wordpress is more powerful than blogger -- categories being the biggest
new feature. AND since the whole rig-a-ma-roll in on _your_ server, (not half on your server (if you have one) and half on their servers (like blogger), then if wordpress servers go down, it doesn't affect
you at all. [All of this is me writing about wordpress the full install -- gotten at wordpress.org, and not wordpress.com, the new free service. The
problem with Wordpress.com is that it's very limited in how you can customize how it looks. Basically you are stuck with their pre-fab templates without any way to modify them -- so I don't recommend that
service (yet).] Check out: http://teaching.jensimmons.com/videoblogging/blogsoftware.htm for links to wordpress theme collections and other info.

[videoblogging] Re: Blip

2006-03-25 Thread mikehudack
Hey David,

Thanks for joining the group, and everyone else is welcome, too!

http://groups.yahoo.com/blip-users/

As I mentioned in my previous reply, we're adding new capacity again.
We're also working to improve our video distribution system (which
allows us to serve videos from multiple server locations) to help
alleviate the problem. We actually think that those tweaks will make
a huge difference.

We're finishing up a round of angel funding right now, and the new
money will really help us stay on top of performance issues. Until
the last few weeks we've been funding blip.tv totally out of pocket --
basically taking a slice off our paychecks every week to keep
everything running. Now that we have a little bit more money to spend
we'll hopefully be able to have more than adequate capacity available
at all times.

Between that and the tweaks to our distribution system, I think we'll
have these problems fixed very quickly.

Thanks again for sticking with us through these sometimes tough times!

Yours,

Mike

[videoblogging] Inserting hyperinks in quicktime?

2006-03-25 Thread Brett Gaylor

I found Andreas' Quicktime thingie
(http://www.solitude.dk/archives/QT-thingie/) for inserting URLs into a
quicktime movie, but I could only do it in quicktime pro. When I
ran the completed video through Compressor, it seemed to erase the
quicktime link. And when I exported from QTPro, the file was much
bigger than the mpeg4 quicktime I usually make with compressor.
When I tried to A) compress with compresor, and then b) overlay the
text track, it removed the fast start header.

Any ideas of where to go here?
Thanks!

hey, I don't own a video iPod (I'm holding out to see what comes next), but the

Re: [videoblogging] Inserting hyperinks in quicktime?

2006-03-25 Thread Andreas Haugstrup
I should probably answer this one, huh. :o)

When you run a video with links through compressor or QT Pro's Export
function the links will cease to function because the video is rendered
again.

The solution:

  - Export your movie first. Compress it the way you want it to look on the
web.
  - Then run through the steps of QT Thingie
  - Save the finished movie as a self-contained movie (you need to give
the file a new file name to be able to save as self-contained). *Do not*
export. Just *save.

Then your links will work.

[videoblogging] Camera

2006-03-25 Thread BevSykes

Well, I hadn't expected to be asking THIS question,
but it appears that my reconditioned mini DV is dead. I don't know that I
can afford a new camera, but if I can, it is going to have to be in the
$300-$400 range. Less is better. Any recommendations from
anyone? I would dearly love to have the opportunity to attach an external
mic, which I did not have on the camera I had. I would also prefer to have
it record to disc rather than to tape. I may, of course, be looking for
pie in the sky.

Thanks for any suggestions.

[videoblogging] vPIP 0.12 Beta is out

2006-03-25 Thread Enric
vPIP (videos Playing In Place) allows the embedding of videos only
when a link, usually image representing the video, is clicked. This
allows a vlog page to load quickly. Then when the link is clicked,
the video replaces the link and appears next to the blog text. vPIP
supports Quicktime, Windows Media and Flash movies. Those who've
been on this list, I'm sure have heard me mentioned vPIP several times.

The current version has been tested on Firefox, Internet Explorer 6,
Opera and Safari. It works well on all these except on Safari the
revert feature does not work well, so it's been disabled. The revert
option makes a prior video that was active revert back to it's link
information when the next video is selected.

The blogging systems that vPIP has been tested on are Blogger.com and
Wordpress. It should also work on any other blogging system like
Typepad and website by referencing it's javascript file.

The installation and usage information is at:

http://www.utilities.cinegage.com/videos-playing-in-place/

In the usage section is an image link to the Generate vPIP flash
utility that lets you specify the video file, image file and other
parameters. Then it generates the code to copy and paste into your
blog or web site.

Currently I know that Geek Entertainment TV,
http://www.geekentertainment.tv/, Lo-Fi St. Louis,
http://lofistl.com/, Tech Alley, http://techalley.cirne.com/ and
Cirne, http://www.cirne.com/vlog/, are using vPIP. Have a look at
those sites to see it in operation. As of this writing, Geek
Entertainment TV and Lo-Fi St. Louis are using the prior version of
vPIP that require the page to completely load for it to go into
effect. My sites, Tech Alley and Cirne, are using the new version
that operates immediately.

Let me know if there's any questions, recommendations for improvements
or problems.

   Thanks,

Re: [videoblogging] Re: Can You Play My Videos on Your Ipod?

2006-03-25 Thread kelly belly
Hey, thanks for the heads-up. I implemented some anti-spam comment
plugin this past week (the correct catch-phrase needs to be entered
for the comment to be accepted), and even though I tested to make
sure it worked, obviously it doesn't. I think I've fixed it.

And yes, I did indeed take that photo, but I have to give credit to
Photoshop for enhancing it. :-/

I would also like to add, in regards to the size question -- I
believe that 320x240 is the standard. I know that the video iPod
screen is set at that display size... and most people tend to use
that size for their videos. You need to do some creative adjustments
to keep the quality decent and the file size acceptable, but it is do-
able.

 Hi Kelly,

I visited your blog and tried to leave a comment, but it kept telling
me that I had to wait. I think that something is wrong.

BTW - it's a very beautiful photo on your blog. Did you take it
 yourself?

vPIP (videos Playing In Place) allows the embedding of videos only
when a link, usually image representing the video, is clicked. This
allows a vlog page to load quickly. Then when the link is clicked,
the video replaces the link and appears next to the blog text. vPIP
supports Quicktime, Windows Media and Flash movies. Those who've
been on this list, I'm sure have heard me mentioned vPIP several
times.

 Thanks,

[videoblogging] Other People's Videos

2006-03-25 Thread Melanie Morgan
Hello All,

I've been going back and forth with this one for a while, and could use a little help.

What's the best procedure when reposting videos from another site? Do you link from their server or save the video to yours (if you have one)? I'm concerned about using my storage space for other people's videos, but I'm also concerned (maybe more) about not having missing video somewhere down the line if the other site runs into problems.

Could this also be an ethical issue of some kind? Not sure what to think.

Melanie

I often contact the person and work out a deal.
Most of the time, I host the video. Hmmm...example,
the Freevlog Greenscreen video, I host it, gets a lot
of traffic, yet...with the Dreamhost account, the
cheapest one, I have not gone over their
limits...close however have not had to pay
anything...bandwitch, I sometimes move over 20GB a
day...yeah I should do the flash thing, however I am
going to stick with QT...because I love Quicktime.
