Thanks for the info. on this. I've bookmarked the actual form so that
when I finally get THE PAT COOK SHOW (Audio & Video versions) back on
track (Which won't be until after my lap band surgery now that I've
had a set back last week), I'll be among the bloggers, podcasters, and
of course fellow videobloggers in my backyard covering the convention
(Even though that unless things change, my vote will likely go to
revolutionary Republican candidate Ron Paul at this point).

Since I have mobility and transportation issues to deal with however,
it's doubtful I'll be out there beyond sunset unless I'm safely inside
someplace (Which isn't likely but still), but during the day however,
you can almost count on me being in designated areas around there
though with my cam and iRiver.

Cheers :D

[videoblogging] Jan 26th 2008 Video Event in Tokyo, Japan

2007-12-17 Thread Yukako Tajima
Hi,

I'm Tajee, video blogger from Japan.
I rarely talk in this mailing list, but let me tell you what I'm doing in Tokyo
next month.

I'm organizing a videoblogging event called Video People JAPAN on Jan 26th,
2008 in Tokyo, Japan.
Here is the official website(in Japanese, sorry!)

http://dougajin.com/

I know it's a bit far and expensive to come to this event from abroad, but
thanks to the sponsors, I could invite Schlomo to this event.
Jay and Rayanne were supporsed to come, but since the flight tickets were
extremely expensive from Europe, we could not afford.so sorry> <

But as Shlomo says in this video, video blogging is such a good thing to do!
You can meet people throught the web across the globe!!

If you want to say hi to Japanese video bloggers, please insert the Douga-Jin
logo
and let me know. I can pick up your video like this.

http://dougajin.com/movie_index.php

The video event is the first one for Japanese vloggers, and I'm thinking of
throwing
the second one(bigger) to invite more people. 2008 will be very exciting for
video
bloggers since many people are so curious to this phenomena now.
Who is the decision maker? I think you guys are all.
We have got good cameras, good software for editting, and good PCwhat else?
We need more creators, I think:)! I will make efforts to invite more vloggers
in the future,
so keep in touch if you are interested in vlogging in Japan.

Thank you!
Hope to see you around.

[videoblogging] Amazon S3 for Flash Videos

2007-12-17 Thread Stan Hirson, Sarah Jones
Has anyone had any experience with Amazon's S3 service? I'm having a
lot of trouble with their terminology.

I am currently using DreamHost for my videos. Other than a few
glitches, it's been pretty good and it certainly is cheap. But I am
planning a new project that will require almost instant streaming of
.SWF files to an international audience. Apparently Amazon has the
resources to fill these needs. I just cannot figure out the costs. I
use 3GB of disk space and 60GB of bandwidth per month. But I just
can't make out their jargon.

I wrote AWS and they suggested I ask in their forum. I don't
understand a word of it!

Has anyone had any experience with progressive downloads of Flash
videos with them?

[videoblogging] videoblogging the 2008 Democratic National Convention

2007-12-17 Thread Jason Rosenberg
Hello videobloggers,

I wanted to let you all know that the application process for getting
your blog/ videoblog credentialed for the 2008 Democratic National
Convention is now open. In 2004, the Democratic National Convention
credentialed 30 blogs for the Convention. In 2008, we're going to be
credentialing many more in 2008 in Denver, Colorado. I'll spare the
details here, but we're credentialing 56 state bloggers/videobloggers
for what is being called the State Blogger Corp. We're going to
credential one blogger per state, DC and the territories. Then we
have a general blogger pool where bloggers can apply for credentials.
Check out this link for the Q and A. http://
demconvention.wordpress.com/blogger-credentaling-process/

To learn more about the process and apply for blogger/video blogger
credentials check out this link: http://www.demconvention.com/a/

I use Spam Karma. It's been great. Akismet is also considered
effective but it requires you to get wordpress.com account for some
sort of key, and I am so tired of registering for ANYTHING anymore.

[videoblogging] Free Flash Player with Advanced Delivery Capabilities from Swarmcast

2007-12-17 Thread johnmriske
Hello All,

My name is John Riske – I'm a long-time subscriber to the video
blogging group, and a first-time poster. I work for a company called
Swarmcast. We develop technology to enable the distribution of high
quality video over the Internet.

I've been more-or-less of a lurker in the group, surveying
what's important and of interest to video bloggers. Much of what
we've gleaned from the conversation has gone into the development of a
new, free offering of ours, called Autobahn HD for Flash. We launched
it last week, and you can read the
press release here and see the Autobahn HD
for Flash player here .

Autobahn HD for Flash is the first Flash player to feature full-screen
video bolstered by network acceleration and adaptive bitrate streaming,
which protects against rebuffering. All of this ensures that each
viewer receives the best possible video quality for their Internet
connection.

So - what does all this mean for you? If you're interested in getting
the player source code to modify our player or create your own Flash HD
player, you can email me at john(at)swarmcast(dot)com

If you want to use our player to showcase your high quality video, we
have a bunch resources available at www.getautobahn.com/developers
  , including instructions on how
to set up your FLVs so that you can take advantage of the adaptive
bitrate streaming and get an embeddable player for your site.

We're very interested in engaging with the online video world at large,
so if you come up with something cool or have any questions or comments,
leave us a note at www.getautobahn.com/developers
  .

Best Regards,
John Riske

cool! yeah the dvd idea (suggested on page in comments) would be good
for those who can't make it if that's an option. (I can paypal some $
for disc/postage/someone's time - just let me know who/when/where). I
still haven't caught up with watching all of them as have had
intermittant net access so a dvd would be great. (even if it just had
all the files if that's easier?)

[videoblogging] Re: Vlogger Friendly DVD Creation Software?

2007-12-17 Thread Bill Cammack
Jan's right that basically, there are a lot of people who would like
to treat a DVD lik a VHS tape... Press play, and watch the whole
thing. Start it, stop it, start it again.

As far as indexing, you'd have to make a menu tree. You can use DVD
Studio Pro to make them.

When the DVD is first put in, you either want to auto-start with the
full presentation, like Jan mentioned, or you want the first thing to
come up to be a menu. Have only two selections on that first menu,
which are A) Play Video, and B) Select Chapter.

Play video plays the entire presentation and gives the option of fast
forwarding from video to video. Select Chapter leads to another menu,
which has groups that lead to other menu pages, so that any individual
video can be selected as the starting point.

There's a lot more to the techniques behind it, but that's the basic
layout. You can do it with DVD Studio pro, and it will be playable on
any computer or DVD player, but it takes quite a long time to do
because there are so many pointers you have to create from video to
video in playback order as well as linking the menus to other menus
and to the videos that they're pointing to.

Another option is to record all the videos into one long video and use
chapter markers out of FCP to determine where each video begins, but
you still have to make all the menu links and select the stills or
running video for the thumbnail images on the menus.
