Is there a utilities floppy of sorts for mac? I'm looking for something that boots MacOS (or at least a usable form) and offers me basic stuff like format, partitioning, etc. Sort of like Tom's Root Boot for linux or a rescue floppy in Windows. Is there anything like that? I saw in Pickle's FAQ about booting off another hard disk to accomplish a similar task but I'm curious as to whether there's a floppy disk that accomplishes the same. -Brian If you can get your hands on a System 7.5 Disk Tools Floppy, it boots your Mac, no weird extensions required. Jeff I've found the 7.5.3 (68K) Disk Tools floppy the all-around best. Can email you a disk image of it if you want. Bob F -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Kudos to The Pickle... your FAQ is by far the most insightful documentation I've seen on Macs so far. I guess the next place to start looking is for a terminator. I don't have an internal one, but I have tons of external SCSI stuff including terminators. Is there anything special I have to do to use the primary HD as external? I'm assuming just set ID to 0, slap on the terminator and power up. -Brian -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Tell us the make and model of the drive, then I or someone can dig up a website with all the settings and tell what should work. (Unless the drive is a real old one from a long dead company that wasn't bought by some other company that is still around.) It's a Seagate SCSI. I've got the jumper settings, but I can't remember the model off hand. I'll post the URL here later so maybe someone can point out the obvious that I've missed. It's got a set of jumpers to set the SCSI ID and a set to control termination. It's got 3 termination options, I think it's drive powers itself, drive powers itself and controller and controller powers itself. I've tried the jumper in all 3 positions. I have a 400MB SCSI that came from another mac and as I understand it the LC II is capable of much larger drives. I'm having trouble getting the mac to see my new drive.
