Fleksy gestures on iphone 5S
I have just downloaded the latest version of Fleksy on my iphpne 5S on ios 7.0.4. I used the earlier version a while back on old 3 GS fine - but now none of the swipe gestures work! I type a word and swipe right and nothing happens. If I swipe left nothing happens. I have to use the spacebar or delete key to make things happen. Am I missing something? I do not have voiceover enabled - should I have it on? Thanks Harry Bell in UK -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: disregard standscan but have another question
Hi Kay, I have seen two such boxes and use one of them regularly. I use the stand scan pro. As far as the boxes themselves are concerned, there isn't much to choose between them, in my opinion. However, where things vary and become important is with regard to lighting. Now, things may have changed with other boxes, but with the stand ScanPro when you use the Mains connector you get 12 volt lighting. Plus, when you buy the stand ScanPro you should choose the twelve volt battery case to go with it. The default in most products is nine volts. This will work in good lighting situations, but for a guaranteed result regardless of good lighting, whether you are creating a shadow by accident, or any other variable, 12 V will ensure a good result. So, I would suggest to you to go with the stand scan pro plus mains adapter and 12 V battery case. Also, the stand scan people are putting little stickers with the box which we can use to easily reposition the phone each time we use it. In this way the stand ScanPro becomes a doddle! Hats Off to the Fleksy Team
I just want to congratulate the Fleksy team for the improvements to the latest release (version 2.0.2) and for making it usable once again for those of us who have not yet upgraded to iOS 7. The app feels snappier and I especially like the addition of the numbers and symbols keyboards which can be accessed by a 2-finger swipe to the left. Entering a new line is now done using a 2-finger swipe down which is also an intuitive improvement in my opinion. Those of us using Fleksy with iOS 6 might encounter a bug where the app freezes and tapping the screen has no impact. If this happens, go to the App Switcher and remove Fleksy and restart it. That seems to fix the problem. The developers are aware of this issue and intend to fix it with the next release. Thanks for this excellent app and how much easier it makes typing input. It is definitely my most used app. Alan Lemly -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Post a new message to VIPhone by emailing viphone@googlegroups.com. Re: about apple tv
Hi, If you leave it sitting at the setup screen for long enough, it speaks instructions for turning on vo - it doesn't turn it on automaticly, but it assumes that the user has a sight problem and that you can't read the screen so you will need the oppertunity to turn on speech. To answer your other questions: it doesn't have to be linked with your Apple ID although more functionality is available if you do so and yes, every now and again it does receive firmware updates. For example, the latest one drasticly decreased the quality of the UK English voice, to the point where I have had to switch to US English because the UK voice has for me become unbareable. Re: Fleksy Keyboard Makes Its Way To iOS Through Third-Party Apps
The assumption you make is that everybody loves the app. Personally, I didn't. Just something else to learn how to use. I already know how to type and don't want to have to learn yet another way. And so somebody else comes up with the newest gee-wiz app and are we then expected to learn that too because somebody thinks it's cool for the blind? Personally, I think the dictation feature of iOS 7 knocks fleksy out of the ball game. Regards, Alan Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All! This is going to require the developer of each app to add these features. On Android for example, you can set fleksy as your default keyboard and it automatically appears in any app when entering text. This means that users are able to customize their device to their liking, sometimes without even having to root their phone. For example customization could be a change in launchers, or keyboards, or even changing the default camera/browser app. Well the good news is that it looks like some of that customization could be headed iOS’ way in the form of Fleksy keyboard http://www.ubergizmo.com/2013/12/fleksy-keyboard-for-android-leaves-beta/. The app has been available on Android and recently left its beta phase, but its developers have not stopped there and have released an SDK for iOS developers. While Fleksy will not be able to replace all of iOS’ keyboards, developers now have the option to include the keyboard within their apps. Speaking to The Verge http://www.theverge.com/2013/12/12/5201868/fleksy-wants-to-become-your-new-ios-keyboard-everywhere, Fleksy’s founder, Ioannis Verdelis, was quoted as saying, /“With every new version of iOS the work required on our part to build a keyboard SDK has reduced significantly […] We’re [now] doing stuff on iOS that integrates the keyboard deeper than it’s ever been integrated.” /As it stands there are a handful of apps that have already integrated Fleksy into their apps, such as GV Connect, Blindsquare, Wordbox, and Launch. If you’re wondering what those apps might be like to use with a keyboard different from the default iOS one, go ahead and check them out. # *Follow:* CellPhones http://www.ubergizmo.com/topic/cellphones/, apps http://www.ubergizmo.com/tags/apps/, fleksy http://www.ubergizmo.com/tags/fleksy/, iOS http://www.ubergizmo.com/tags/ios/, Fleksy Keyboard Makes Its Way To iOS Through Third-Party Apps http://www.ubergizmo.com/2013/12/fleksy-keyboard-makes-its-way-to-ios-through-third-party-apps/?utm_source=mainrss original content from Ubergizmo http://www.ubergizmo.com. http://share.feedsportal.com/share/twitter/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ubergizmo.com%2F2013%2F12%2Ffleksy-keyboard-makes-its-way-to-ios-through-third-party-apps%2F%3Futm_source%3Dmainrsst=Fleksy+Keyboard+Makes+Its+Way+To+iOS+Through+Third-Party+Apps http://share.feedsportal.com/share/facebook/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ubergizmo.com%2F2013%2F12%2Ffleksy-keyboard-makes-its-way-to-ios-through-third-party-apps%2F%3Futm_source%3Dmainrsst=Fleksy+Keyboard+Makes+Its+Way+To+iOS+Through+Third-Party+Apps http://share.feedsportal.com/share/linkedin/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ubergizmo.com%2F2013%2F12%2Ffleksy-keyboard-makes-its-way-to-ios-through-third-party-apps%2F%3Futm_source%3Dmainrsst=Fleksy+Keyboard+Makes+Its+Way+To+iOS+Through+Third-Party+Apps

Re: Setting alarms for future dates in iOS7
The only thing I can think of is something like setting a repeating alarm say for Monday through Friday at 6 AM for example and leave Saturday and Sunday turned off. That would give you the ubiquitous Monday through Friday schedule and that would repeat until you changed it Regards, Alan Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All! I find this not such a big deal, after all, mostly you either have a recurring alarm if you get up at the same time each weekday, for example, or if you need a special alarm then I find it to be fairly normal and intuitive to set it the evening before. After all, before we had iPhones and used regular alarm clocks this is what you would do. I just had a look and the only option for an alarm that is more than 1 day ahead is to set a repeating alarm. For example, it's Wednesday now and if I want to set an alarm for next Monday at 7 AM I could select 7 AM as the time, then tap on Repeat, Never and select to repeat the alarm every Monday. This would set a 7 AM for every Monday and I would just have to delete or turn off that alarm if I only wanted it once. At best this would allow you to set an alarm for up to 6 or 7 days in advance. If you were concerned you forget to set an alarm the evening before you needed it you could always tell SIRI to remind you to set the alarm on a specific day in the future, then when the reminder goes off the evening before you just hold down the home key and say Wake me up at 6 AM and it's done. Re: Using a braille display with Voice dream?
Hi Debbie, You can use Voice Dream with a braille display, but the experience is much better in Read2Go. Every few lines, you have to switch screens, and when you do, first the percentage of progress through teh book is displayed. You have to wait for it to disappear from the braille display. Then you may see a line or two that you already saw on the previous screen, or a line or two may be skipped. So it's fine for checking the spelling of a word or something similar, but it would be annoying for reading for any length of time. Sandy, Which app do you use this with and do you have good results? I really need to find something to get reliable ocr with. Thanks much. Re: disregard standscan but have another question
Kay, I use TextGrabber and Prizmo. And yes, I get excellent results. Mind you, tables, columns, and difficult layout, may still pose a problem for these OCR apps. Plus, none of them are very good at recognising print on a multicoloured background. But for straight forward text they are really very good. It will depend upon your particular needs. However, these two apps do compliment each other very well. Hi listers, I also tried out this app and at first it didn't seem to work. Hello All, I just want to point out where to go for the settings for Eyenote. In the native settings app on the phone, there is a submenu link for Eyenote. Tap on it. By default, show settings is turned off. If one toggles it on, within the Eyenote app there will be a settings button that one can select speech, tones, or vibration. This feature use to be in the older versions of Looktel Money Reader. To me, it's important that this app has a choice in privacy when one is out in public. HTH. Re: Fleksy Keyboard Makes Its Way To iOS Through Third-Party Apps
now I am going to put my 2 sense in. Talking about choice, if I had my option, I would make MBraille my default keyboard. So in one sense, I needed to learn all different dot commands, but it has been well worth it. About 90'% of the time, I can directly input and access the major functions on the phone. This may be OT, but it's related to choice and what Apple may do in the future to allow third-party word processing apps to become part of the mainstream in iOS devices. Re: New EyeNote
Hi, I posted a message on the eyenote yesterday. I wan’t able to get anything out of the app until now. It is obvious to me that there was not enough light in the room for the eyenote to detect the money value. I just tried it again and now things are much better with this app. It seems that the money reader works with less light—sometimes we can’t tell if enough light is present or enough light is available. I like the eyenote for the fact that you are told that the bill is the front or back. I don’t know why this would be important but, you have a choice. The only thing I am not clear with the eyenote is, there is a single beep or tone for a dollar bill, 3 beeps for a 5 dollar bill 4 for a ten and 5 for $20.00 Am I just stupid orwhy 3 beeps for a 5 and so on? Thank you for your reply. Now I have a Read 2 Go question. When you are in a book how do you navigate to the next page? I can get to where it says previous page, and next page. Whether you're looking at the front or back of the bill is important when slipping a bill into a vending machine. Some vending machines are still particular when it comes to how the bill is oriented. I think this is pointed out in the description of the app. On 12/19/2013 04:39 PM, Andrew J. LaPointe wrote: *Hi, I posted a message on the eyenote yesterday. Re: Changing Text Tone Sound, and Testing to See If It Takes?
Yes I can be done, by the way your subject is very confusing. Because in your subject you're referring to text tone and then your body of your email you're wanting to send yourself an email via your PC to save the toners changed. The only way that you may want to tell the tone is changed, would be if you change the one that says mail Undersound's and settings. If you change your text tone, you need to get somebody to send you a iMessage with a nether I device or a Mac. Here here, though I don't use this anything like as much as most here. But certainly I'll type in that and take it to where it's needed; so as a selectable option, it would help no end. - Original Message - From: Eileens Misrahi eileen.misr...@gmail.com To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Thursday, December 19, 2013 10:27 PM Subject: Re: Fleksy Keyboard Makes Its Way To iOS Through Third-Party Apps now I am going to put my 2 sense in. Fleksy had taken the right direction and who knows in a future date it may be merged with ios! It all depends on once choice and persons willing to learn will. Personally the dictation feature of ios is a real nonsense and I always have hard time getting perfect results and Fleksy solved it in an other way for me. No one, as far as I can tell, is proposing that Apple dump it's virtual keyboard and replace it with Fleksy. All I see hear is that people who do like Fleksy can make it the default keyboard in some of their apps and maybe in IOS in the future. Again, this is just adding more flexibility and choices to IOS and IOS apps. I don't see anything wrong with more choice and flexibility, and I don't see an issue with people liking and choosing to use Fleksy. I don't use dictation very often, but I don't think you're telling me I should use it just because you think it's cool. Original message: Hi, I've seen this happen in my favorite Google Voice app called GV Connect, and it's also available in Blind Square. I believe also there is a note taking app which uses the Fleksy SDK for that access. So, to me this is a step forward in the right direction. I hope more developers continue to do this for those who really like Fleksy. After all, it's not just a blindness friendly app. -- Raul A.
