Re: Logitech Bluetooth Easy-Switch keyboard case or sleeve

2014-03-09 Thread Craig Werner
Hello, Raul.

The Logitech K811 is a fantastic keyboard. So glad you like it.

I came across a couple of sleeves on Amazon.com. I have not purchased
either of them yet. I'll bet you have seen them, but in case not,
here they are.

Re: Logitech Bluetooth Easy-Switch keyboard case or sleeve

2014-03-09 Thread Cheryl Homiak
I was wondering about this too. But since I also have the logitech ultra-thin
keyboard cover (I have the one for iPad Air) I use that when I travel because
the keyboard acts as a cover for the iPad and I can then put it in a bag all as
one unit; this is not a keyboard that switches between devices. However, I also
really like my easy-switch and was wondering if there would be some kind of
case I could put it in or a sleeve I could get to protect it. Like you, I
haven't found anything. I do also have the IOGear mmultilink bluetooth keyboard
and those come with a little sleeve; that's what I would like for my
easy-switch K811. Or maybe a case that would hold the iPad with an extra
compartment that would fit the keyboard but not just an open pocket.

P.S. I didn't start out to collect various keyboards - it just kind of
happened. The multi-link is small and can switch between six devices but can
get a little cramped for lengthy use; the ultra-thin keyboard cover is such a
nice complement to the iPad, the Apple Wireless keyboard has some nice
functions but I don't like the large rool end for the battery or the fact that
it doesn't switch easily and doesn't have an on/off switch per se, and the K811
switches so nicely and is pretty much a normal size for typing and has
comfortable keys. Hence my variety of bluetooth keyboards!

Re: Upgrading from 4s to 5s

2014-03-09 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, the capacity makes no difference and the model makes no difference. So,
feel free to restore away. One thing which helped me is encryping my backup in
iTunes. If your backup is encrypted, your email passwords, and I think wi-fi
passwords are also restored when you get your new iPhone restored from the 4s
image.

Hope this helps.

Re: finding an address with the comCab app?

2014-03-09 Thread goshawk on horseback
yes, well this is the whole problem, there communication and customer services
is total shit!
the main reason that I asked if there was an app instead, was that I am getting
very tired of the long waits to get through on the phone these days, and
especially as they have really been pushing the online booking whilst one's
blood pressure is being raised trying to get through. that's the only reason I
found that there was an app in the first place, as I wanted something for on
the go use.

Simon, no, because i didn't even know there was such an app. Isn't it
wonderful the way they communicate with their customers?

finding any location with out a post code, which to me seems rather silly, as

Re: Cleaning Up Memory on iPhone 5

2014-03-09 Thread Alex Hall
Before trying all that, do a hard reset. Go to the Home screen, just to give
all apps a chance to save. Then, hold down the power and home buttons at the
same time, and keep both pressed for about 10-12 seconds. If you have vision,
wait until the phone starts booting; if not, give it at least 12 seconds,
perhaps a bit more, or grab a sighted person to tell you when the screen lights
up. Once the phone begins to boot, release both buttons and wait until you are
back on your lock screen, then proceed as normal.

Cleaning Up Memory on iPhone 5

2014-03-09 Thread Keith Bundy
Hello, all. I am noticing that my iPhone 5, running the latest upgrade to
IOS, is becoming rather slow. I noticed some real problems today when I was
using my Brailliant display through Bluetooth.

Is there a good, accessible app out there that would help me to clean up my
phone's memory? I am assuming there is a lot of latent junk on it that
needs to be done away with.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi,

I have two different Zagg ones that work really well with both my phone and the
iPad mini with retina. They don't switch like our keyboards do, but they work
really well for travel. One keyboard I have has a plastic top over it, and the
second one I have is a combo case/keyboard. I hope this helps a little bit.

Re: installing the new 7.6 update question

2014-03-09 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi there. First a clarification. The iOS version is 7.0.6. Second, what you are
referring to is the iCloud Keychain. I use it personally because I like to have
Safari save my usernames and passwords for certain websites. If you want to do
this then you will want to consider using the iCloud Keychain. It also has the
advantage that if you have more than one Apple device, the passwords and
usernames will be synced across multiple devices. If you don't use Safari for a
lot of this kind of thing then you probably don't need it.

Re: total Google Voice integration once again available for iOS 6 users

2014-03-09 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi there I know this is rather a late response but I want to let you know that
if you have the tweak called call on GV as you say, and it is working without
issue, it will let you make Google voice calls from tapping a number on a link
or website or whatever. So if this is not working, perhaps there is an option
in the call app which is disabled.

Kindle customer service

2014-03-09 Thread Richard Turner
I just wrote Kindle and asked about having the ability to send highlights
from a book to my computer or another app. I wanted to be able to print out
some highlights for a book group discussion.

I got a very prompt response. I suspect this may be from a Bot, but it is a
better response than I've gotten from many other companies.

Here is their response:

Message From Customer Service

Hello,

I'm sorry to inform you that currently the feature to send the book
highlights to another app or computer isn't available. That's definitely not
what we want our valued customers like you to experience.

I completely understand your disappointment in this case. Please accept my
apologize and sorry for the inconvenience caused in this regard.

I completely understand that this feature ( to send the book highlights to
another app or computer) definitely would be of great help to our customers.

Although at this time there is no option for this, we'll be sure to consider
your feedback as we plan for further improvements. Rest assured that I have
passed along your comments to our developers. We definitely value your
opinion and will continue to listen and respond to our customers' concerns.
We will make every effort to evaluate the information you have provided, and
try our level best to lead it to program changes or enhancements.

I've immediately forwarded this message to our Kindle Development Team. We
have a dedicated team working relentlessly to implement the feedback we
receive.

It is always important for us to hear how customers react to all aspects.
Your feedback will help us to improve the selection and service we provide
and we're glad you took time to write to us.

We'll honor your commitment by continuing to provide the quality product
availability and support you expect for your Kindle. The Kindle Team will
carefully review your suggestions and will work to make this feature
available in near future.

Once the feature is made available, we will notify you and make an official
announcements about this on our website.

Once again, I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused in this
regard.

Thanks for your patience and understanding while we work to improve the
device and its features.

Best regards,

Saravanan S.

Richard

Logitech Bluetooth Easy-Switch keyboard case or sleeve

2014-03-09 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi all. I have the Logitech Bluetooth Easy-Switch K811 keyboard and am
using it successfully with 3 Bluetooth devices. iPhone 5s, iPad mini
with Retina, and Samsung Nexus 7. Despite it being specifically an Apple
keyboard due to the command and option keys, ti works very well with the
Nexus 7. In any case, because of the size of the keyboard, it doesn't
exactly fit my iPad mini sleeve due to the length. This isn't a problem
normally except when i travel. So, I'm wondering if anyone has purchased
a case or sleeve for this kind of keyboard. Looking on Amazon hasn't
given me very positive results, but I also realize that Amazon isn't the
only player in town, or I might be using the wrong key words to find one
if it exists.

So, I ask the list for ideas or suggestions. Especially if you are a
K811 or K810 keyboard owner/user.

Thanks.

RE: Notification center question

2014-03-09 Thread Neal Ewers
Thanks, Anna. Just in case others may make the same mistake, here is what
happened.

My Notifications view was set to off. I had the things in settings, in
notifications that I wanted to appear, checked, but the notifications view was
off, so nothing was seen. I Missed that one.

Thanks much.

Hi Neal,

First of all, there are three possible Notification Center views: Today,
Missed, and All. To see a list of your notifications, choose All. Today lists
the weather and stocks if you've chosen to have them there, mentions events on
your calendar for today, and tells you how many events you have scheduled for
tomorrow. Missed displays notifications that have been there a while that you
haven't cleared.

If you don't see any notifications when you choose All, open Settings, choose
Notification Center, and go through the settings. You can control which apps
put notifications in Notification Center and what sorts of alerts they use.

Best,

Anna

I'm not sure whether booking.com will do the search you want, but it's very

it. We'll be traveling in a week or so; I'll know more then.

Re: installing the new 7.6 update question

2014-03-09 Thread Apple boy
This screen allows you to setup iCloud keychain which can securely store
your credentials, credit card details etc. Personally I chose to skip
this step and just backup data to the cloud such as contacts. I may look
into this in the near future but for now I have done this. What you do
is of course your choice and has nothing to do with whether you're a
regular user or not.

Hi,
Might I suggest this: prior to topping up your phone, open notes and input
the card number information. Then copy that note. In this way, when you get
to the point where you need to enter that information, you can just turn the
rotor to "edit"choose "paste"and there you are! You should have enough time
doing it this way.

A final suggestion though, in the interests of security, perhaps, you should
delete that note once you have finished with the information. Just in case…
Good luck,
Sandy

App to control fitness equipment e.g. treadmill or bike any accessible ones out there?

2014-03-09 Thread Jesper Holten
Dear all.
Some fitness manufactorers make fitness machines that can be directed
by audio chirp signals e.g. the one provided by iFIT. But do any of
you know of any apps or programs either on windows or mac that will
create and generate the audio chirp signals understood by the models
supporting the chirp system?
We are planning to get a treadmill or stationary bike to exercise on
at home and would like to have as accessible a system as possible.
Hope somebody has ideas out there.
Best regards, Jesper.

Hi I don't know if this is an option but I have been with o2 pay as you go
for quite a few years now and what I have always done is used my E top-up
card.
Of course, this is only when you go in shops which is why I'm not sure if
its an option for you but essentially how it works is that you hand over how
much you want to top up with your e top-up card the shop assistant does
there thing with the card hand it back to you and depending on how long it
takes to come through with o2 I get a text message confirming that my
balance has been added and that's it.

I don't know if this helps but its what I've used for years and it works for
me.

Hello friends,

I have just set up a new Iphone 5s on pay as you go on 02.
My major stumbling block is that I cannot use the 02 automated system to top
the phone up.
I cannot enter the credit card number quick enough for the system to
recognise it.
Has anyone come across this problem and found a work around?
Is there a way to store the credit card number and maybe ask Siri to enter
it when I am prompted by the automated system?

Very frustrating, I love the phone but can't top it up to use it properly at
the moment.

The second option I have is to configure the treble click option to turn off
voice over then ask someone sighted to top the phone up, can anyone tell me
where to configure the treble click option please?
I have checked under settings and general but can't seem to find it.

I'm a latecomer to Ootunes, but I'm very impressed. This is how an app
is supposed to work. In addition to the developer being responsive, from
what I understand, the listeners can update the database. They don't do
it directly; they send requests to the developer for station streams.

Are there others people recommend? I basically want a good app to find

Hi,
Might I suggest this: prior to topping up your phone, open notes and input
the card number information.

Good luck,
Sandy

Re: Iphone 5s and automated topup systems

2014-03-09 Thread Sandratomkins
Hi,
Might I suggest this: prior to topping up your phone, open notes and input the
card number information. Then copy that note. In this way, when you get to the
point where you need to enter that information, you can just turn the rotor to
"edit"choose "paste"and there you are! You should have enough time doing it
this way.

A final suggestion though, in the interests of security, perhaps, you should
delete that note once you have finished with the information. Just in case…
Good luck,
Sandy

Hi, if you want something super simple and free, just ask Siri. Say "where am
I?" However if you want something kind of simple and not too expensive,
Araidane is another good choice. I can provide more details if necessary.

I just happen to get an older iPod Touch 4th generation to play
around with. I use VoiceOver. It currently has iOS 5.1.1. It is
prompting me to update to iOS 7. Do I recall that a 4th gen won't
even allow that? And, if I update to iOS 6 is VoiceOver too sluggish
in your opinion?

Thanks for any input.

I'm a latecomer to Ootunes, but I'm very impressed. This is how an app is
supposed to work. In addition to the developer being responsive, from what I
understand, the listeners can update the database. They don't do it
directly; they send requests to the developer for station streams.

But the developer works hard to keep the streams updated. It’s definitely my

Re: Siri

2014-03-09 Thread Richard Turner
You do not have to keep holding down the home button after you hear the ding.
Be sure to start speaking immediately after the ding though. If you pause too
long, you'll hear a lower pitched ding that means Siri has stopped listening.
You can then either double-tap the listen button that is near the bottom of the
screen, or hold down the home buwithton again.

Re: Iphone 5s and automated topup systems

2014-03-09 Thread Daniel McGee
Hi I don't know if this is an option but I have been with o2 pay as you go for
quite a few years now and what I have always done is used my E top-up card.
Of course, this is only when you go in shops which is why I'm not sure if its
an option for you but essentially how it works is that you hand over how much
you want to top up with your e top-up card the shop assistant does there thing
with the card hand it back to you and depending on how long it takes to come
through with o2 I get a text message confirming that my balance has been added
and that's it.

I don't know if this helps but its what I've used for years and it works for me.

Iphone 5s and automated topup systems

2014-03-09 Thread Hicks Steven (CORNWALL IT SERVICES)
Hello friends,

I have just set up a new Iphone 5s on pay as you go on 02.
My major stumbling block is that I cannot use the 02 automated system to top
the phone up.
I cannot enter the credit card number quick enough for the system to recognise
it.
Has anyone come across this problem and found a work around?
Is there a way to store the credit card number and maybe ask Siri to enter it
when I am prompted by the automated system?

Very frustrating, I love the phone but can't top it up to use it properly at
the moment.

The second option I have is to configure the treble click option to turn off
voice over then ask someone sighted to top the phone up, can anyone tell me
where to configure the treble click option please?
I have checked under settings and general but can't seem to find it.

Take care all.

RE: Answering Skype calls

2014-03-09 Thread Margaret Booth
I use Skype on my iPhone all of the Time. A 2 finger double tap won't work.
I tend to do a one finger double tap on the alert and then quickly do a one
finger swipe to the right to video and do a one finger double tap on this.
This is the only way I know to answer a Skype call.

Hi there I am not sure if anyone ever answered this. However I have seen
that changing the Skype notifications to Alerts instead of banners will
help. That way if you are getting a Skype call, you can double tap it from
the notification area on your lock screen and unlock your phone. The trick
is, you still have to find the answer button because a two finger double tap
will not work from what I understand. Not the best solution unfortunately.

If others on the list have better solutions for this, I am also all ears.

my phone out of my pocket and unlock it and, as I say, by that time they've
stopped ringing so I'm not sure what I'll see if I did get there in time.

Would a two finger double tap work?

Re: Deleting messages using iPod touch 5th generation?

I can't make this work, I can get it to say "Selected" on an item, but
that's all; no other things to actually do anything with.

Hi, Connie. This is a little tricky. You can either delete messages
permanently, or you can archive whole threads. I don't know how long they
are archived. The actual process for doing either is the same. Go to a
thread or a specific message. Double-tap and hold on the second tap, which
will cause VO to ignore your next gesture. Wait for the rising set of tones
(about a second or two after you hold), then swipe with one finger, either
left or down. This doesn't always take, so you may have to try more than
once. In both cases, a menu will pop up. I believe it's on the bottom of the
screen, but i just use the VO one-finger swiping gesture to the left and
right. For a thread, there's an "archive" button. Double-tap this. For a
specific message within a thread, there's a delete button. Note that
deleting is permanent.

Hth,
Teresa

Slow down; you'll get there faster.

Re: Iphone 5s

2014-03-09 Thread Apple boy
Hello thanks for these tips, I wondered how I should charge my mac. But
I do not get a low battery warning at 10%. Any ideas on fixing this?

The iPhone contains a Lithium-Polymer battery pack. This pack has different
charging and power rules than the older Ni-Cad or Ni-MH battery packs.

First, you only need to initially charge the pack to full. There is no need for
an initial 24 hour charge cycle.

Next, only run the battery pack through a complete charge cycle once per month,
and this is actually done to reset the battery charge monitoring circuitry.

Third, Li-Polymer battery packs prefer shallow charges. The best to use, if one
is always by power, is 30% to 80%. However, this is not practical for most
people, so iOS circuitry automatically switches to trickle-charge when the
battery pack exceeds 90%. Also, 100% is displayed when the battery pack is
actually around 98 to 99%. This is to encourage people not to over charge the
battery pack.

Fourth, when one gets the low battery warning, it is best for the battery to
plug the iOS device in and start charging as soon as possible. If the battery
pack is run down too low, this can shorten the life of the battery pack. On the
iPhone and iPod, this is 20%. On the iPad and MacBook, this is 10%.

In the case of the battery packs, Apple knows more than the end-user.
Li-Polymer batteries are different from the older battery types, so what you
used to know about rechargeable battery packs has changed. Oh, and Li-Polymer
battery packs do not contain toxic materials like the older rechargeable
batteries, but they are a little more combustable.
