I agree that it all depends. For most things I can think of, though, the Mac is 
a fine choice, especially if you also have an iOS device. I wrote an article on 
the pros and cons of the Mac, and I tried to be as balanced as I could. You

facebook app and location services.

The other day the fb app asked me about location of friends and places, well
I turned them on, but I can no longer turn them off unless I go to settings
privacy location and turn fb off, but I just want the friends and nearby by
places off, when I go to that area and see the switch button and double tap
it from on to off, it always stays on. I even turned vo off and tried it but
still I can not turn this functionality off in the fb app.

Maybe I'll try uninstalling the app, but that seams extream.

I just checked and the articles are reading for me.
The thing that bugs me is that the author is no longer shown. It has been that 
way for several versions now.
It used to be, in particular in the Opinion section, that you would hear both 
the article title and the author.
Lately it is just the title.
But, the articles are reading for me.
This is version 4.2 of the app.

Here's the thing: VoiceOver speaks the character you pass, whereas Windows 
screen readers always speak the character to the left of the cursor, I believe. 
Let's trace an example to make this clearer:

Say we have the word iPhone and, for whatever reason, we want to erase the 
i at the beginning of it. Change your rotor to characters, and flick up; you 
will be moved backward, character by character: i, n, o, h, capital p, i. VO 
tells you the character it passes, and because you are moving backward, it is 
being placed on the left of the characters is speaks. That is, if you hit 
delete once you reach the i, you will delete the space before the word; VO told 
you i as it passed the i, moving left, so the cursor is now between the space 
and the i. To erase that i, you'd either stop at the p, so the cursor is 
between it and the i, or you'd move right one character. In the latter case, VO 
will say i again as it once more passes the i, this time moving right. Since 
it spoke the i as it moved forward, you can be confident that deleting will 
take out the i; again, the cursor is now between the i and the p.

It is very hard to get used to this system if you use Windows screen readers, 
but the Mac is set up the same way. Honestly, I now find it much more sensible 
to do things this way, and Windows gets me all confused. Apple reports the true 
position of the cursor (which characters it is between) rather than always the 
character to one side. This is closer to the way the cursor looks visually, and 
it is a much easier way to track where you are. It takes getting used to, but 
you will eventually have an 'ah ha moment and come to love this method. At 
least I did. :)

Hi Dennis,

You have all features of your phone, jailbreaking allows you to to more than
what Apple allows in some ways, but it may also make your phone more
unstabil, more prone to crashing depending on which jailbreak tweeks you
install and it may also make it less secure.
Keep in mind that Jailbreaking does not allow you to take a locked phone to
a different provider, for that you have to unlock your phone which has
nothing at all to do with jailbreaking.
Which phone do you have and are you still under contract? If you are still
in a 2-year contract and even if you get your phone unlocked, you could not
leave your current provider unless you continued to pay them for your
monthly plan or unless you paid whatever penalty they impose to cancel your
plan.
Remember that if you bought your phone at a discounted price from a company
like ATT, Verizon or a different provider, you did agree that you keep the
phone with them for 2 years at whatever plan you chose. They did after all
pay for a large portion of your phone and in return you commited to their
monthly plan for the 2 year period.

you just have to have a GSM operating phone. Which most companies are.

this list it is of little interest since they don't want to jailbreak. I,
for example, may give a bit of general information about jailbreaking and
point to a Podcast which goes into more detail because I know basically what
Jailbreaking is and how it works, but I don't jailbreak. At the same time,
if I see posts about Games on the list I delete them because I own 3 games
and hardly ever play them. I think there is nothing wrong at all with
providing information or links to Podcasts or articles where a person can
get the information they need.
In any case, if you are running iOS 7.1.1 you cannot jailbreak and there is
a chance that you may never be able to jailbreak 7.1.1. The people who do
the jailbreaks may very well focus on iOS 8 to which they will have access
to as a Beta version after Apple's WWDC next Monday.

Hi Joseph,

I had a quick look at the article you provided the link for and if you read
it again you'll find that most of the reasons to jailbreak are things the
author is hoping the iOS 7 jailbreak would allow. The article was written
right after iOS 7 was released and before a jailbreak was available. I am
not a jailbreaker so I don't, for example, know if there is a jailbreak to
add other things to Control Centre just to use one example. Other things
like turning off the apparently headache inducing zoom effect you can do
right in iOS.
Yes, some of what you might be able to do with a tweek like Activator is
neat, but I personally was much more tempted to jailbreak a couple of years
ago before Control Centre and Notification Centre came to iOS. Anyhow, as
Jerry pointed out, if you have already upgraded to iOS 7.1.1 you cannot
jailbreak, you would still have to be on iOS 7.04 or earlier to do so. 
As for iOS functionality, you don't loose any, you still have all your apps
from the Apple app store, you can still buy apps from the app store or
content from iTunes.

Hi all,

I've run a few Google searches, and it appears there might be some neat 
features I would like to use on iOS which can only be done via jailbreak. 
This link provides some examples such as the Activator app:

If I jailbreak my iPod Touch 5th gen will I still be able to access the 
iTunes store on my iPod and or iTunes on PC? I of course still want access 
to iOS updates and app updates. Smile.

Maybe a better question is one of what functionality will I lose by jail 
breaking.

My iPod is out of warrantee so not too concerned with that.

If anyone who has been there done that can help I'd really appreciate the 
information in order to make an educated decision. Smile.

No iPhone in June or July. Next weeks World Wide Developer's Conference will
be for announcing iOS 8 and typically there will be some news about Mac
computers and this time hopefully about a new Apple TV. In my opinion there
is 0% chance that Apple will announce a new iPhone which will then be
released later in June, this announcement will come in early September for
release in mid to late September just as it was last year and the year
before.
Having said this, I would still not buy a new iPhone now unless I really
needed a phone now, after all, if you have something that works and you can
wait 4 months then you might want to do so.

I am aware of the context in which the article was written in terms of 
timeline. The link to the article was only an example of why one would want

I had a quick look at the article you provided the link for and if you read
it again you'll find that most of the reasons to jailbreak are things the
author is hoping the iOS 7 jailbreak would allow. The article was written
right after iOS 7 was released and before a jailbreak was available. I am
not a jailbreaker so I don't, for example, know if there is a jailbreak to
add other things to Control Centre just to use one example. Other things
like turning off the apparently headache inducing zoom effect you can do
right in iOS.
Yes, some of what you might be able to do with a tweek like Activator is
neat, but I personally was much more tempted to jailbreak a couple of years
ago before Control Centre and Notification Centre came to iOS. Anyhow, as
Jerry pointed out, if you have already upgraded to iOS 7.1.1 you cannot
jailbreak, you would still have to be on iOS 7.04 or earlier to do so.
As for iOS functionality, you don't loose any, you still have all your apps
from the Apple app store, you can still buy apps from the app store or
content from iTunes.

cannot change from field in mail on iphones

I know I must just be missing a setting somewhere but I can't figure this out. 
On my iPad in mail I can double-tap on the from field and then tap on ! from 
email address and choose another email address to send from. But despite the 
fact that I have the same email accounts on both my iphone 5 and 5S as on my 
iPad, I cannot change the from field on either iPhone.  I'm not sure but 
which email address I am sending from seems to depend on which account I am in 
at the time or perhaps my icloud account is the default if I am in all 
inboxes but for some reason I don't seem to be able to change that field. My 
iphones and iPad are all running the latest iOS. Any ideas?

Case Opinions

A few days ago, my iPhone fell out of my pocket while traveling and the case
cracked. I am looking to get a new case. I've used both the Otterbox
Defender and the Speck cases in the past, but I'm looking for something
sturdy yet slim that will protect my iPhone 5S. I even pondered getting just
a screen protector ( the Bodyguardz Tempered Glass one looked pretty
appealing). Here are some questions I have:

 

1.   What is a slim et sturdy case that will offer optimum protection
for my iPhone during daily use (commuting, traveling, etc).

2.   Does anyone have any experience with glass screen protectors?

3.   Do battery cases offer any (if at all) protection for the phone?
I'm mainly thinking about the Mophie Juice Pack cases.

 

 

Please provide any input you have on this topic.

Cheryl, in order to change the email, do the following. when you open a message 
to send, you see the to field, and then a from cc, etc. double tap where it 
says Cc and you'll see the fields shown. Go to the from field, it will have an 
address selected already, double tap that, and you'll have a picker item. swipe 
up or down to select your address, and swipe to the left for a down button. Try 
that and see if that helps. Hope that works for you. it's a little nuts but it

RE: deleting 8,000 emails

Hi Kathie,

You can't bulk delete emails in iOS, the best you get is to double tap each
message to select it and then delete the selected messages. I don't think
that's a good option with 8,000 messages. The only exception is the Trash
mailbox, if you had that many emails in there you could just double tap on
Edit at the top right of the screen, then find the Delete All option at the
bottom right.
I assume you want to do this in your gmail accoiunt? Well, unfortunately as
far as I know there is not even a select all option on the web interface
of gmail where you could select all messages and delete them.

By the way, your actual question showed up underneath Robin's message. I
also started a new thread with the subject you chose because I do believe
you highjacked the NEW iPhone User  Recommendations  Suggestions thread
by replying to Robin's message in that thread and then changing the subject.
Just thought I explain this for the future as highjacking of threads is
something the list moderators don't like. Easy rule of thumb is that if your
message does not concern a particular subject/thread then start a new
message and don't use Reply To to send your message and then change the
subject.

Shortly after I activated my iPhone my wife found a case for me at 
Wal-mart from a company called Tough Mobile, which I think costs around 
thirty dollars, give or take a few.  While I haven't done actual drop 
tests to verify its durability it does seem pretty tough, is reasonably 
slim and is easy to take the phone out of the case.  My only gripe is 
that I'd prefer the closing mechanism to be a magnet and not velcro but 
that's minor.

No, unless I'm misunderstanding a step, this doesn't work for me. I am using a 
braille display so I'm not actually swiping. But while choices appear on my 
ipad, they don't on my iphones; no picker appears.

I think people get confused when it comes to jailbreaking versus unlocking, 
neither of which are illegal. Jailbreaking sounds illegal, so people think it's 
a taboo topic, but it is not. Unlocking is tricky, and you have to know what 
you are going to do once you unlock, or you won't get any phone service. 
Jailbreaking and unlocking are unrelated to each other, as Sieghard has pointed 
out.

Whether you can jailbreak depends mostly on the iOS version, not on the phone 
model. If you're running version 6, for example you could probably jailbreak.

I just tried this with my braille display. Use your cursor-routing key on the 
from field. Then do a dots 4-5-6-chord to go to the bottom of the screen, and 
the picker should be there. Unfortunately, I don't find a done button. I'd be 
willing to bet that it appears when you show the keyboard.

You have all features of your phone, jailbreaking allows you to to more than
what Apple allows in some ways, but it may also make your phone more
unstabil, more prone to crashing depending on which jailbreak tweeks you
install and it may also make it less secure.
Keep in mind that Jailbreaking does not allow you to take a locked phone to
a different provider, for that you have to unlock your phone which has
nothing at all to do with jailbreaking.
Which phone do you have and are you still under contract? If you are still
in a 2-year contract and even if you get your phone unlocked, you could not
leave your current provider unless you continued to pay them for your
monthly plan or unless you paid whatever penalty they impose to cancel your
plan.
Remember that if you bought your phone at a discounted price from a company
like ATT, Verizon or a different provider, you did agree that you keep the
phone with them for 2 years at whatever plan you chose. They did after all
pay for a large portion of your phone and in return you commited to their
monthly plan for the 2 year period.

My phone behaves differently. I double tap the from field, and I am placed in 
the bcc field. I have to double tap 'from again to get the picker to show. 
Once it is on the screen, I make my selection and simply double tap once I have 
swiped to the desired email address. That selects it, no done button required. 
I don't know why others don't have to choose it twice, but if you are having 
trouble getting the picker to appear, that might be your problem.

You may be CORRECT, but Apple previously used to RELEASE NEW Apple 
iPhones IN either June OR July. Don't you RECALL June 2009 (i.e., 
Apple iPhone 3  Apple iPhone 3GS) and June 2010 (i.e., Apple iPhone 
4). Apple ONLY began releasing NEW Apple iPhones in the FALL (i.e., 
September or October) IN October 2011 (i.e., Apple iPhone 4S), 
September 2012 (i.e., apple iPhone 5), and September 2013 (i.e., 
Apple iPhone 5C  Apple iPhone 5S).


As I indicated IN my initial EMAIL posting ONLY time will TELL.

Do you really THINK Apple will NOT release any Product and/or Service 
IN the SUMMER of 2014, and let Microsoft dominate the Media with its 
rlease of its very own Personal Assistant, Cortana? I don't THINK so. 
Google won't allow it either, but it has various manufacturers 
releasing NEW Android devices Year Round unlike Apple.

This is true, but Apple has now more or less locked themselves into a
September/October cycle for releasing new phone models. It only makes sense
as folks for a few releases now have fallen into the pattern of having their
two year commitments with their carriers come due around that time. Besides,
they haven't even previewed iOS 8 or even made it available to developers
for all the beta cycles. It makes absolutely no sense for them to unveil a
new phone without polishing up the new OS or a couple of months before
millions of people who would buy the phone are still locked into their
contracts.

So yeah, no new iPhone next week or next month or the month after that.

 I will be purchasing an IPhone 5S soon  I have a question.
 Do you have to use a wireless connection, or can you hook it up to
 your computer to download?
 I have Verizon as my carrier  don't know much about what kind of
 data plan I will need.

It was obvious that the New iPad or iPad III or whatever it was called was
more a gap-stop to the newer model iPad that came out later that year. 
Besides, an iPad is not an iPhone and no where near as dependant on time
cycles tied into carrier commitments. And again, there's no iOS 8 yet so how
can their be a new i-device? Again, doesn't make sense. iOS isn't Android
where new devices are still being introduced running an operating system
that is almost a year old (KitKat) and when a new one is going to be
released in only a few weeks.
I would of course like for a new iPhone to pop up sooner than later, but all
indicators point to it not being the case. 
I'll even take an Apple TV which indeed may be a more plausable assumption
as it is not dependant on iOS and is overdue for an upgrade anyway.

sieghard, I did not have the speak notifications in locked screen option turned 
on in the accessibility VoiceOver options. This fixed the problem and thanks so 
very much. I'm thinking this option must have come in with iOS 7.

 that too. I miss it most where text messages are concerned because it's handy 
 when reading a book or doing something else to know who a text message I'm

That's the idea - it will go to the last tweet you read, so you can keep 
reading, in order, from there. If you want to start from the top, simply touch 
any of the buttons on the top (Home, Mentions, messages, Compose, etc) and 
flick right. This is for Twitterrific - I don't know about the main Twitter app.

Does anyone have any consistent success with VoiceBook? I recently
returned to it after Apple replaced my IPhone 5 because it wouldn't
make connections when I used it as a phone and it had been dropping 50
percent of calls. When I first tried VoiceBook again, I was thrilled
to find that it was working again (after a year of not working), but
now it works only sporadically. When I flick up or down to go

sometimes caused VoiceOver to stop working altogether. Has that bug
been fixed? I would have to acquire and download the app again to try
it out.

I just downloaded the update and it appears to be working fine with voiceover. 
There is an additional menu on the screen which is also accessible. But the 
familiar options are still there, and everything seems to be working as it 
should.

iPhone keyboard tips

*1. You've probably been using your iPhone's keyboard for ages without
realising that it's actually easier than you thought to add symbols to your
messages. Instead of tapping once on the 123 button and then again on the ABC
button when you're done, you can tap and hold the 123 button, then slide your
finger to select the symbol you want to insert. Once it's been added, your
keyboard will automatically revert back to the letters keyboard.

*2. That's not all! There are many additional symbols hidden within your
keyboard that you may never have discovered. Tap the 123 button to go to the
numbers and symbols keyboard, then tap and hold a symbols such as the pound
sign to find other currencies.

*3. This one might sound simple but it's a massive time saver that I know many
people don't know about. Instead of going to the symbol menu to find a full
stop, you can double tap the space button. It'll add a full stop to the end of
the word you've just typed and set you up ready to begin the next sentence.

*4. Shake to undo This one can be a little awkward at times but it's also a
bit of a life saver. If you've just typed a long sentence and accidentally
deleted it, you can give your iPhone a shake to bring up the undo/redo button.
Just make sure you're holding onto your iPhone tight before you shake it!

*5. Tap to go back to the top

Just scrolled down a really long list in notes or a whole ton of emails? You
can tap at the very top of the iPhone's screen to go straight back to the top.
This works in most iPhone apps.

*6. Delete the last digit in the calculator by swiping

If you use the calculator app a lot there's a handy time-saving trick you might
not know exists. If you've just typed a long number and want to delete the most
recent digit you entered, you can swipe left or right in the black area where
your calculation appears.

*7. Stop music with a timer

This is a cool trick for those of you who enjoy falling asleep to music. The
problem with that is it'll still be playing when you wake up in the morning,
and you've probably just drained most of your battery in the process. Using the
hidden 'Stop Playing' timer, you can choose how long you want the music to play
for as you drift off to sleep.

To set up the timer, go to the clock app and then tap 'Timer' in the bottom
right of the screen. Choose how long you want your timer to last for (you can
choose a matter of minutes or hours if you'd prefer) and then tap 'When Timer
Ends'. Here, scroll down to the bottom of the menu and select 'Stop Playing'.
Press start on the timer and then begin playing your music from the Music app.
When the timer ends, the music will fade to a stop.

This trick will also work for audiobooks and other media.

*8. Get your iPhone's flash to blink when you get a message

If you find that the vibration or sound that your phone makes when you get a
message is not always enough to attract your attention, there's another element
that you can add to the alert – light. By going to Settings General
Accessibility and scrolling down to the 'Hearing' section (this feature is
designed for people with hearing impairments), you can turn on 'LED Flash for
Alerts'. Now every time you get a notification, the flash next to your iPhone's
rear-facing camera will blink.

*9. Triple Click shortcuts

Another accessibility setting that could come in handy is the Accessibility
Shortcut, which can be found by going to Settings General Accessibility and
then scrolling right down to the bottom. Tap 'Accessibility Shortcut', and
you'll see a menu of options. From here you can activate the Home button triple
click, which can be used to invert the colours of your iPhone for better
visibility in low-light, zoom in to tricky-to-see parts of the screen and more.

*10. Use your headphones to take a selfie

Selfies are all the rage right now (as we're sure you've noticed) so this handy
trick can help you get a better shot. When the camera app is open on your
iPhone, you can use the volume up button on your headphones to take a photo.
Not only does this reduce shake, it also means you can take a more
natural-looking photo from further away or take a photo hands-free.

My suggestion for a really secure iPhone is the Ballistic hard Core
case.  The iPhone fits in a bed between two very hard pieces of
plastic that snap together.  Because the iPhone is sandwiched between
the two pieces, it does not wiggle around.  also ballistic includes a
rubber case that wraps around the hard core case.  The Hard Core is
the ultimate protection against drops and falls.  It doesn't protect
against a toilet tank dumping so I am careful with my iPhone in
bathrooms.

It's also easier to push out the release of a product than it is to pull 
it in. As others have mentioned, Apple needs to get IOS 8 developd, 
tested and betad before a new Iphone shows up. There are also numerous 
contracts with parts suppliers, manufacturers and distributors. I can't 
say it can't be done, but I'd be surprised if Apple were to do this just 
because a rival with less than 4% of the market share puts out a new 
phone or OS. Apple didn't feel compelled to put out a new iPhone when 
Samsung released the latest Galaxy, and Samsung is much more of a threat 
to Apple than Microsoft is.


I'm not saying Apple shouldn't pay attention to Microsoft because 
complacent companies don't stay on top, but Apple has this momentum 
building up to a big announcement right before Black Friday and the 
holiday buying season down to a science. I doubt Microsoft will have 
people lining up outside of ATT stores to get the next Windows Phone.


I agree, only time will tell, but I don't think Apple is going to do 
much more than counter Microsoft's announcement with a marketing 
campaign. If they rush out a product release just to compete with 
Microsoft then I think they'd be playing into Microsoft's hands and 
sending the message that Microsoft is a player and a threat in the smart 
phone market, which just isn't the case yet.

I agree with Sieghard. I haven't seen anyone discourage the discussion 
of jail breaking on the list. I went looking for an old message from the 
owner or the moderator of the list on whether discussing jail breaking 
is permitted, and I couldn't find anything, but I'm pretty sure they've 
never tried to squash any discussion on jail breaking. The moderator 
also used to jail break his phone, but I'm not sure if he's still doing 
that or not.


I think it's perfectly OK to point to Google or podcasts when someone 
asks a question. I've seen people point to Google, AppleVis or podcasts 
on numerous subjects, such as using a bluetooth keyboard, different 
navigation apps and so on. If I see a question go unanswered, and I 
think I can help by pointing to a podcast or a web page on a topic I'm 
not personally well versed with then I'll do that, and I don't think 
there's a problem with that.


I think it's more likely that there just aren't a lot of people on the 
list who jail break anymore. I jail broke my phone when I was running 
IOS 5, but I haven't jail broken it since then. I didn't want to wait to 
move up to newer versions of IOS, and one of my most important apps 
wouldn't run on a jail broken iPhone.

Alex has a great post below. The only thing I would add, that might 
help, is that the cursor on the iPhone and the Mac is a vertical line 
that is placed between two characters. VO announces the character that 
the cursor jumps over. New characters are inserted where the cursor is 
located between the two characters. The delete key is a backspace key, 
so it deletes the cursor to the left of the vertical line representing 
the cursor, which is the character you just heard spoken when moving 
right to left.


In Windows, the cursor is a line that appears under a character. Your 
Windows screen reader reads the character above the line. If you hit the 
delete key, it'll delete that character and if you backspace, you're 
deleting the character to the left of that character. When you insert 
text, you're inserting it to the left of the character the cursor is under.


I'm not sure it'll help, but when I realized this is what was going on, 
it all made a lot more sense to me. I'd also suggest bringing up a note 
in the Notes app, and just practicing until you get the hang of it.

readers, but the Mac is set up the same way. Honestly, I now find it 
much more sensible to do things this way, and Windows gets me all 
confused. Apple reports the true position of the cursor (which 
characters it is between) rather than always the character to one 
side. This is closer to the way the cursor looks visually, and it is a 
much easier way to track where you are. It takes getting used to, but 
you will eventually have an 'ah ha moment and come to love this 
method. At least I did. :)

Odd voice over and speaker issue

Hello all. I have an odd voiceover issue. Voice over works fine when in my 
headset, but when I unplug the headphones, nothing speaks. The speaker works 
fine, because Siri works from the external speaker. What can I do to fix this?

Have you checked your VO volume? Go to a home screen, go to the top, do a 
two-finger swipe down to read all, and hit the volume up key. The iPhone stores 
a different audio level for the speaker than for headphones, so a headset may 
work fine while VoiceOver's internal speaker volume is low. Siri would also 
work, because its volume is also independent.

S. I've done that. It seems to have something to do with Siri. After I use 
Siri, voiceover goes silent if the headset is not plugged in.

Hello Seacord, as you are so correct I do have to correct you on one thing. 
That is regarding contracts and phone carriers. As I just watched from Sprint 
to ATT, this is the way I did it without paying the penalty fee on my current 
contract. I went to ATT purchased my phone, contacted Sprint called and the 
reason why I switched and will be sending my phone back and sending the phone 
back apparently is supposed to cover the penalty fee on the contract. As my 
brother has already got his sent back and should be credited this month and 
mine will post on the account this month coming up and then they will allow me 
to send mine back. Then the following month munch be credited.

ask about other iOS devices here. If it’s an iPhone, which model (4S, 5, 5S,

managing multiple devices with one braille display

 I just wondered if there was a better way to manage this. I have a Braille 
 Edge which I would like to be able to use with an iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and 
 iPad Air. Now I realize I can't use the Edge with all the devices at the same 
 time but here is my problem. I'd like to keep the Edge paired with all three 
 devices so I don't have to pair over again all the time. But all three of the 
 devices do have to be on most of the time. If all of them are paired with the 
 Edge, I have trouble whenever notifications come up on my devices. If I am 
 using the iPad, for instance, and a notification comes up on either or both 
 iPhones, the display stops working and I have to stop and lock and then 
 unlock the iPad to re-establish it with the Edge. I think something similar 
 happens no matter which device I am actively using with the Edge. Is there a 
 way around this or am I simply going to have to just pair with each device as 
 I use it with the Edge and then have that device forget the Edge and pair 
 with one of the other devices when I need to switch. I wish braille displays

Wow, that is tricky. I use the same display with my mac and my iPod, and have 
few problems with that. When I get notifications, my display sticks with 
whatever I've got it on at the time. I've never tried it with multiple iOS 
devices. Is it possible you could turn off notifications for some apps on some 
devices? Or turn off notifications on locked screens for some of them? Other 
than that, I am stumped.

I tried turning off notifications in locked screen but my devices still 
announce something about having a certain number of notifications periodically 
so that still doesn't solve the problem. I haven't had much problem with this 
when using just a Mac plus one i-device. Of course with the Edge, it's also 
possible to have the Mac on usb with the display and the i-device on bluetooth 
and then I can switch back and forth very nicely. Thanks for the suggestion. I 
guess I can just be thankful for being able to have enough devices to have to 
deal with such a problem in the first place :-)

Need help with recording pro

I need some help with the recording pro app.Can someone give me some step by 
step directions on how to use recording pro?What is the best form  matt to 
record in? Also what is the red and blue buttons for and where's the delete

Yeah any time a new device wakes up it will try to pair. I know of no way 
around this. I actually thought something was wrong with my display because it 
would lose its mind. then I realized it only happened when I was using it with 
one device and the other was nearby. 
Never happened when I took it to work. Only one device of course.

Re: cannot change from field in mail on iphones

Using Braille, I press a routing key on the field that says from /cc. Then I 
route on the from button, then space 4-5-6 to bottom of screen and the picker 
becomes active. I only do this if I'm changing the from field for a reply. 
Otherwise, I just open the account i want if it's a new message.
But this is definitely a change from what it used to be and I think it's weird.
