Deal News app?

2015-11-25 Thread Kim Samco

Anyone here use the Deal News app? I've found some super deals with it but
since the update before last and the last one too it's not working. When I
find an item I want to know more about and I tap on it it used to take me to a
page with more info about it. Now it kicks me out of the app completely. I
haven't found any contact info in the app. If anyone knows something about
this I'd appreciate any info.

Thanks,

Kim

I converter pro, app that converts youtube to m4a

2015-11-25 Thread Candy Lowe
Hello everyone,
I have been using i converter pro app successfully for a few months. It is an
app that converts youtube to m4a files. Well, all of a sudden, the web browser
is gone, therefore not allowing me to paste the youtube address in order for it
to be converted. Does anyone else use this app and has had this problem.
Originally there were four buttons at the bottom of the app, files, player,
settings, and downloads. The downloads button was the one that brought you to
the web browser. It is gone.
Any help is appreciated.

scott, since blind tech trainer showed me knfb, and I was able to feel
vibration if I don't keep iphone up in right place. so I have to keep it in
good level before take picture. so far, if I go to field of view, I press
navigator button or joystick button, the flashing pops up too fast and
disappears as I only see two words all edges, but nothing else to read
moreas if I use advance button to advance to read the whole

is okay, but how can deafblind person follow full statement when the

Hi richard.
As Andrew suggested, try slowing down the alert display duration,
assuming you are using iOS 9. Also, if you are finding that the
messages aren't flashing up on your display at all, press space with M
to turn speech on, and then space with M again to turn it off. I'm not
sure exactly why this makes a difference, but sometimes it does.

Good luck,
Scott

Hi All,

When I plug my iPhone 6 into my laptop I get the following error:

iPhone is not usable because it requires a newer version of iTunes.

But when I perform the check for updates I'm told I am already running the most
recent version of iTunes which it says is 12.1.2.

I've rebooted both the phone and the laptop but no difference. What is going on
and how can I fix it?

Btw this phone has previously been sync-ed with this laptop with no problem.

Please help.

Re: Importance of IMessages nowadays?

2015-11-25 Thread Devin Prater
I use them a lot, although if its some one that doesn't use them, I have Kik
messenger, Facebook Messenger, which has a hidden keyboard shortcut,
command+Return to send the message which makes it a lot easier for me to use.
Those, along with iMessage, is all I need, really, since what'sApp requires
money to use, so I just use Facebook, Kik, and iMessage.

2015-11-25 Thread Lisa Belville
Hi, all. I'm using the Agogo app version 1.52 on an iPhone 5. It hasn't
updated any content since around 6PM Central time yesterday November 24.
I've shut down the app, rebooted my phone and turned the wifi on and off
with no luck. None of the content in either my go channel or the general
categories like spotlight, news headlines, etc. is being updated. Is there
anything else I should try short of deleting and reinstalling the app?

All other streaming/news and radio apps are working fine.

Re: Trouble with pop up buttons and the picker.

2015-11-25 Thread englishrider91
Monica, once I double tap the pop up button, to find the picker, I usually put
my finger in the bottom middle part of the screen, about an inch and a half or
so above the home button, near where you might find a pause button. I hope this
helps.

Thanks,
Ari

Is there any way to get the ringtones from Zedge on iPhone without using

RE: A Quick Tip for Those Experiencing Any App Updating Problems in iTunes

2015-11-25 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Dave,

The reason to update an app in iTunes on your computer is to preserve a
VoiceOver accessible version of the app should a subsequent update break the
app on the iOS device.

Previously synchronized apps are no longer copied from an iOS device to iTunes
on a computer during sync sessions.

Subject: A Quick Tip for Those Experiencing Any App Updating Problems in iTunes

Hello All,

I am cross-posting this to both the Mac Visionaries and v iPhone mailing list
because I think the steps described below will apply to both the Windows and
Mac versions of iTunes.

Today, in iTunes for Windows, I received a couple of download errors when
attempting to update a couple of apps. The errors, effectively stated, that
the download URLs were invalid.

NOTE 1:
I use Jaws 16 for Windows on this particular PC. I make extensive use of the
Jaws Touch Cursor to interact with both iTunes and the iTunes Store.
The computer in this scenario does not have an actual touch screen.

Summary:
My solution was to cancel the download session, then right-mouse click on each
of the problem apps which displayed a list of options including one to show the
app in the App Store. Once there, I simply clicked the download button for the
app at which point it downloaded properly. Upon checking for updates, again,
the problem app was no longer listed.

NOTE 2:
The reason I update my apps via iTunes on a desktop is because, as of iOS 9.x,
updated apps are no longer automatically copied from the iOS device to the
computer during sync sessions.

Steps:
The scenario in iTunes for Windows goes something like the following:

1.
Open iTunes and go to the Update apps section. A list/grid of all the apps
that have updates available should be displayed. If not, then click the Check
for Updates button.

2.
Select Update All.

3.
As the apps are successfully updated, they will be removed from the list/grid.

4.
If there is an app that cannot be updated for various reasons, a dialog box
will be displayed with a cursory explanation as to why the download failed.
At this point you can attempt to resume the download, at which point it will be
successful; if not, go to the next step.

5.
If any of the apps fail to download, iTunes will be placed into pause mode.
Your only option at this point will be to attempt to resume the download at
which point failure will occur again. The only way to get out of this loop, at
least, the only way I have discovered, is to close iTunes.

6.
Re-open iTunes. You should immediately be returned to the most recently viewed
area of the application. In this scenario, the Apps update area.

7.
At this point your update list/grid will only contain the apps that have failed
to update. Right-mouse click on each app. From the resulting Shortcut list,
select "Show in iTunes Store".

8.
Once the app is displayed in the iTunes Store, simply select the Download
button. Upon successful download, the app will no longer appear in the Apps
Update area of iTunes.

Good Luck,

Mark

Ari,

device to iTunes on a computer during sync sessions.

Therefore, if you have a VoiceOver accessible app on your iOS device, I
strongly recommend that you update the app in iTunes, should any future updates
break the iOS app. My suggestion presumes that you would want the most recent
VoiceOver accessible version of an app stored on your computer.

Mark, I'm a little bit confused. What's going on with iTunes 12.whatever and
iOS 9 and syncing apps from your phone to the computer? What happens if you
update the app on your phone, then sync your phone to the computer, while also
doing a transfer purchases? I don't update certain apps often, in case there
are accessibility problems, so I like to keep a spare older copy in another
place on my computer. I also like to have apps that I do update on a regular
basis sync to the computer. Call me weird, but I don't like relying on iCloud
backups, because when you use them, they just pulled the latest versions of
apps from the app store. This is a problem if you have apps that are no longer
in the app store.

Thanks,
Ari

RE: turning voiceover off and using siri

Hello John,

As of iOS 9.x, this is the normal behavior of Siri feedback.

Non-VoiceOver users no longer receive the familiar double-beep feedback, when
initializing Siri, unless a headset is attached to the device.

Hi: I'm using the iPhone6 with IOS9.1. When I turn voiceover off by pressing
the home button three times and then hold the home button for a few seconds to
get siri, I don't hear the beeps that I used to hear, although I feel a
vibration. When voiceover is on and I hold down the home button to activate
siri, I do hear the beeps. Can someone tell me what I need to do to hear the
beeps when voiceover is off?
Thanks.

I do the same thing. When you adjust the rotor, though, if it wasn't on the
right thing before and doesn't move through the picker, you actually want to
choose adjust value, not actions.

2015-11-25 Thread englishrider91
Place two fingers on the screen, a little ways apart, and rotate them to the
right or left, until you reach adjust value. Then flick up or down to adjust
the value. Up goes higher, and down goes lower. If you find your having trouble
with this gesture, you might want to go practice it in the VoiceOver practice
area of settings. You get to that by going to
Settings/General/Accessibility/VoiceOver/voiceover practice.

Re: A Quick Tip for Those Experiencing Any App Updating Problems in iTunes

2015-11-25 Thread englishrider91

Thanks,
Ari

Hello John,

As of iOS 9.x, this is the normal behavior of Siri feedback.

Non-VoiceOver users no longer receive the familiar double-beep feedback, when
initializing Siri, unless a headset is attached to the device.

Re: turning voiceover off and using siri

2015-11-25 Thread englishrider91
Wow, that's weird. Why do you think they changed that?

I would think that the vibration mode would actually be better for deaf-blind
users who can speak. Then they could just read Siri's answer on their Braille
display. Wouldn't that be kind of cool?

Thanks,
Ari

Accessing ICloud Drive from a Windows PC?

2015-11-25 Thread Gerardo Corripio

 Listers
Is it possible as of yet, to somehow access ICloud Drive from a Windows
pc, maybe via a PC program, like how one would interface Dropbox, Mega
etc? Let's say I'm want to put a document on ICloud Drive by using the
PC, and then via the IPhone, Icould later read or edit it, thus is this
the idea of ICloud Drive?

Re: A Quick Tip for Those Experiencing Any App Updating Problems in iTunes

2015-11-25 Thread englishrider91
Wouldn't updating the app in iTunes just get you the inaccessible version,
though? I mean, say there's version 3.0 of an app on your iPhone that works
perfectly now, but the 3.1 update breaks it, and you heard about the problems,
so you haven't updated the app yet, and don't plan to until the problems have
been fixed. If you update the app in iTunes, won't you get the inaccessible 3.1
version on your computer?

Thanks,
Ari

Workflow

2015-11-25 Thread Joe
Hi, can anyone point me to a good tutorial for the Workflow app? I bought it
several weeks ago and just got around to trying it out this afternoon, but I
can't figure out how to create a task. I don't mind dragging my finger
around the screen to find elements, but I thought when I'd first downloaded
it that Voiceover worked a little better with it than what I experienced
today. Thanks in advance for any resources.

Joe

Major Problem, iPhone 6

2015-11-25 Thread Chris Chaffin

I am having a major problem with voice over in a couple of situations.
Now all of a sudden, in order to play any of the Blindfold games, I have to
turn off voice over in order to play the game, but I have to have voice over on
to do the menus and make my selections. It is only during actually playing the
game that with voice over on does nothing.

The only other app that does not now work with voice over on is MBraille. Now
of the gestures work, and if I try typing with MBraille nothing happens at all.

At first, I just thought maybe one of the blindfold games just needed to be
reinstalled. But this happens no matter which of the games I try to play.

I have restarted voice over, cleaned out my app switcher and restarted my
phone, and I even tried to reset network settings.
It does not make sense tome, but the on screen braille input does still work.
I am not sure why that works and not MBraille.

If anyone has seen this before, or knows anything that might help things work
normal again, please let me know!!

Thanks for any help,

Chris

Time Jump In Different Increments On different days?

2015-11-25 Thread Fazil
Hi, list.

I have IPhone6Plus with IOS9.2

I listen to a current affairs program of 60-minute-duration from BBC at:

http://wsdownload.bbc.co.uk/urdu/css/32mp3/latest/sairbeen.mp3

The Program is in my First-Language, Urdu.

When I fast-forward it, it has a time jump of various increments on
different days. Some days it jumps in the increment of five minutes only and
and other days it takes a big time-jump like 30 minutes.

I want to keep it at five-minute increment consistently. Can I do that?

If yes, how can that be done, please?

Thanks!

Re: Phone is not usable -- please help

2015-11-25 Thread Kimberly
I am actually running windows 7 on a relatively new laptop. I found a link to
older builds of iTunes in a post on an apple support forum. The poster had the
exact same problem I did. He provided the link to 12.1.3.6 which I downloaded
and installed and it fixed the problem.

It's a hell of a nasty surprise finding out you can't sync your phone after
upgrading though. Would have been nice to get a little headsup beforehand.

Thanks for the info.

Subject: A Quick Tip for Those Experiencing Any App Updating Problems in
iTunes

Hello All,

I am cross-posting this to both the Mac Visionaries and v iPhone mailing
list because I think the steps described below will apply to both the
Windows and Mac versions of iTunes.

Today, in iTunes for Windows, I received a couple of download errors when
attempting to update a couple of apps. The errors, effectively stated, that
the download URLs were invalid.

NOTE 1:
I use Jaws 16 for Windows on this particular PC. I make extensive use of
the Jaws Touch Cursor to interact with both iTunes and the iTunes Store.
The computer in this scenario does not have an actual touch screen.

Summary:
My solution was to cancel the download session, then right-mouse click on
each of the problem apps which displayed a list of options including one to
show the app in the App Store. Once there, I simply clicked the download
button for the app at which point it downloaded properly. Upon checking for
updates, again, the problem app was no longer listed.

NOTE 2:
The reason I update my apps via iTunes on a desktop is because, as of iOS
9.x, updated apps are no longer automatically copied from the iOS device to
the computer during sync sessions.

Steps:
The scenario in iTunes for Windows goes something like the following:

1.
Open iTunes and go to the Update apps section. A list/grid of all the apps
that have updates available should be displayed. If not, then click the
Check for Updates button.

2.
Select Update All.

3.
As the apps are successfully updated, they will be removed from the
list/grid.

4.
If there is an app that cannot be updated for various reasons, a dialog box
will be displayed with a cursory explanation as to why the download failed.
At this point you can attempt to resume the download, at which point it will
be successful; if not, go to the next step.

5.
If any of the apps fail to download, iTunes will be placed into pause mode.
Your only option at this point will be to attempt to resume the download at
which point failure will occur again. The only way to get out of this loop,
at least, the only way I have discovered, is to close iTunes.

6.
Re-open iTunes. You should immediately be returned to the most recently
viewed area of the application. In this scenario, the Apps update area.

7.
At this point your update list/grid will only contain the apps that have
failed to update. Right-mouse click on each app. From the resulting
Shortcut list, select "Show in iTunes Store".

8.
Once the app is displayed in the iTunes Store, simply select the Download
button. Upon successful download, the app will no longer appear in the Apps
Update area of iTunes.

Good Luck,

Mark

Yeah, I have noticed this too. I found the picker fields by placing my
finger on the lower right hand corner of the phone. Or, perhaps it's in the
lower middle of the phone screen, just above the home button. Next time,
place your finger on the bottom part of the screen after you select the
picker, you should be able to swipe to your selection after making that area
become active.

With Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger and other services, do you still use
IMessages? I'm can't seem to select within Send Imessage via, my phone

it is?

Hi Chris, when you're in game play in one of the Blindfold games, use your

RE: A Quick Tip for Those Experiencing Any App Updating Problems in iTunes

2015-11-25 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Ari,

In your scenario, you are absolutely correct. However, if you invert the
scenario, you will discover that the reverse affect is also true; said reversal
being the following:

1.
You update to version 3.0 from version 2.9 on your iOS device. Now, because
you want to make certain that you have a backup copy of version 3.0, just in
case a future release breaks access, you update to version 3.0 on your computer
via the iTunes Update feature.

2.
Now, you update to v3.1 on your iOS device. Upon doing so, you discover that
VoiceOver access has been compromised. In this situation, you do not update
your copy on the computer which is v3.0. Instead, you delete v3.1 from your
iOS device and copy the older version from your computer back to the iOS device.

As you can see, from the steps above, , you only update apps on your computer
when you have confirmed that they work well on your iOS device. Keep in mind
that while you cannot copy an app from an iOS device to the computer, you can,
however, copy an app from the computer to the iOS device.

Either double tap and hold and slide left or turn off VoiceOver and swipe left
about 4 or 5 times then turn VoiceOver back on and you should find a finish

print today launched its LTE Plus network, which is available today in 77
major markets in the U.S. To celebrate, the carrier is announcing what
 its
calling "the biggest wireless offer in U.S. history", offering 50 percent
off of T-Mobile, Verizon and AT rate plans. The offer runs from
 November
20 to January 7, 2016 and the pricing remains in place until January 8,
 2018.
>
"We've made tremendous strides with our network because we know consumers
want wireless service that provides consistent speed and reliability,"
 said
Marcelo Claure, Sprint CEO. "We are so confident that customers will have
 an
amazing experience that we are encouraging them to give us a try with the
biggest wireless offer in the history of our industry. Customers
 switching
to Sprint will never need to look elsewhere. They will learn what our 58
million customers already know - Sprint offers the best value and an
 award-winning network."
>
T-Mobile, Verizon and AT customers who want to switch to the network
 will
get Sprint plans that mirror their old plans, only for half the price.
 For
example, a T-Mobile customer with four lines and 10 GB of data per line
 pays
$180 per month at T-Mobile, but will only pay $90 at Sprint. An AT
 family
who pays $100 for 15 GB data will get the same thing at Sprint for $50.
Verizon customers paying $80 for 12 GB will get the same for $40. Verizon
and AT customers will also get 50 percent off access fees.

music and video, data rollover and cloud options do not carryover to
 Sprint.

Customers switching over to Sprint can also take advantage of iPhone
Forever, Sprint's plan that allows customers to upgrade to a new iPhone
every year. It's also a "worry-free" offer, with customers having 28 days
 to
try out Sprint's service. If they're not happy, they can return it
 without
incurring a restocking fee. Sprint will also pay any switching fees up to
$650 per line with an American Express Reward Card after online
 registration
 and phone turn-in.

Sprint says its new LTE Plus network is faster than Verizon's and AT's
networks, citing Nielsen Mobile Performance data. NMP uses crowdsourced
 data
from Android users in 44 of the largest markets in the U.S., and it found
that in 20 of the 44 markets, users downloading files over 5 MB did it
fastest on Sprint. The carrier says the new network can reach up to 100
Mbps, includes stronger service with an extended 2.5 GHz signal and more
reliable service with three bands of spectrum: 1.9 GHz for broad
 coverage,
800 MHz for indoor coverage and 2.5 GHz for faster speeds.

Phone is not usable -- please help

2015-11-25 Thread Kimber Gardner
Hi All,

When I plug my iPhone 6 into my laptop I get the following error:

iPhone is not usable because it requires a newer version of iTunes.

But when I perform the check for updates I'm told I am already running
the most recent version of iTunes which it says is 12.1.2.

I've rebooted both the phone and the laptop but no difference. What is
going on and how can I fix it?

Btw this phone has previously been sync-ed with this laptop with no problem.

Please help.

Thanks,
Kimber

Re: Phone is not usable -- please help

2015-11-25 Thread Arnold Schmidt
Yes, you need iTunes 12.1.3 for your phone, running IOS 9, to work with
iTunes. This means that you are running something older than Windows 7,
which I am, also. I don't know how to tell you to get iTunes 12.1.3, it
didn't show up for me as an update, either. But a few days, after I
installed IOS 9 onto my phone, and 12.1.2 would no longer interface with it,
the update to 12.1.3 showed up as an update. I hope this happens for you.
It never showed up when I would check for updates.

Re: question

2015-11-25 Thread Scott Davert

Good luck,
Scott

RE: Zedge version 2.5 app accessible

2015-11-25 Thread Alan Lemly
Sieghard and Ari,

I agree that for transferring ringtones to one's computer, it is much easier
to use your computer and web browser. I find that much easier and when I
locate a ringtone I like, I go to the Zedge site on my computer, log in,
find the ringtone, and save it to my iTunes Media\Ringtones subfolder. I
then just add that folder to my iTunes library the next time I'm in iTunes
and sync any new ringtones to my iPhone 6.

I did save a ringtone to my phone using the Zedge app but by the time I
hooked up the phone to my computer to transfer that ringtone to it using
iTunes and File Sharing, it is much easier just to use the computer and my
web browser to grab the ringtone initially. I do like using the Zedge app to
sample the ringtones to see what's available.

Hi Alan,

I gave this a try and it does work OK, but I haven't yet figured out how I
can best transfer a ringtone from the app to my PC. I haven't actually tried
the Save Ringtone option because I saw the Share button and thought this
should be easy. I selected Save to Dropbox from the share sheet, but when I
went to my Dropbox folder on the PC I realized that all this does is to save
a little text file with a link to the ringtone on the Zedge.com website.
I still find it easier to just use the website, there I can type in a search
word, then I use the Jaws Find command to search for that word and I can
usually easily find the ringtones. If I then press enter on one it opens up,
I use Jaws Key+F7 to bring up a list of links, find "View" and that plays
the ringtone. Then I look for the "get" link and then use the Jaws cursor to
find the download link which I find easier because after clicking on it I
can use Alt+N for the notification bar and select save. If I then go back
with control+left arrow, find another ringtone and repeat, the Jaws cursor
usually is right there on the download link.

Regards,
Sieghard

I just downloaded the latest version 2.5 of the Zedge app and find it is
accessible for sampling the large volume of free ringtones provided by that
site. The previous version had an inaccessible play button for sampling the
ringtones.

I expect you still must use iTunes to get any of the Zedge ringtones
transferred to your devise but this app makes it very easy to sample the
ringtones in order to pick out your favorites.

Video description of movies and tv shows Apple TV fourth generation

2015-11-25 Thread Shai
Hi,
I have video description enabled on my Apple tv fourth generation in
settings and have the following questions:
1. How does one know when previewing a movie or tv show in iTunes
whether that film is described?
2. Does one get access to the described content even if renting the
film or show?
Films that I have looked at have not said that they are described. My
understanding from previous discussions on this was that there were
very few films at the time which were described but I understand that
there may be more now.
Thank you in advance for any responses
