Hello Paul,

I love the Fandango app. It is VoiceOver accessible and you can even set
reminders to alert you when upcoming movies are released. I believe the app is
free so give it a go.

I am curious if there is something like app that I can look over plots of the

I mean like for example star wars: the force awakens, I need to read plot to

RE: wondering

2015-12-22 Thread Richard Turner
You might try the app, IMDB. That stands for Internet Movie DataBase. It is a
site owned by amazon.

You can search for a title of a movie or TV show and follow the link to it and
then there is a partial plot shown that is another link. On that page, you
will find slightly longer plot summaries.

Here is one of the plot summaries they give for Star Wars, The Force Awakens:

The Galactic Empire was defeated thirty years ago. The Galaxy is now facing a
new threat: a new faction named the First Order. Their main mission is to rule
the Galaxy and destroy all who oppose them. Their commander is a ruthless,
mysterious, powerful Sith, Kylo Ren. Kylo has an ambition to find and kill the
last Jedi who is able to restore order and revive the Jedi ways, Luke
Skywalker. Luke's unknown location is also a main concern for General Leia
Organa, a General from the Resistance that now trying to find him too. Han Solo
and Chewbacca meet some new companions: Finn, a defective First Order
Stormtrooper, and Rey, a scavenger from the Jakku planet who acquired Luke's
location through a BB-8 rolling droid. This unexpected team is forced not only
to fight and resist the First Order, but also to find Luke Skywalker.

Richard

I want to thank you all for your suggestions. The steps Christopher offered did
the trick. Huge thanks to you! I didn't think I would ever get there because
during restore I kept getting an error message that it could not reach the
servers.

A follow-up or continuation of this problem is when I tried restoring from a
backup on my PC, I was asked for a password. I tried my Apple password but it
will not take that. Is there another password? I sure don't remember using
anything else

Interesting, after I wrote last night, I tried using Find My iPhone. I was able
to trigger the pinging. Unfortunately, I was not able to stop it, since the
thing was dead. It finally ran itself out, I guess.

I have not had anyone look at the screen to see if that is working, but I do
have voiceover. If anyone knows about that password iTunes wants to restore a
backup, I will be most grateful. If I cant get to it not a huge deal. It might
be time to start from scratch anyway

Again, to everyone, thank you!

Please try the following steps.
Assuming the USB cable is still connected to both iPod and computer:

1. Press and hold the home and sleep/wake buttons for at least ten seconds.

2. After that time, release the sleep/wake button and keep the home button held
down until iTunes detects the iPod in recovery mode. Release the home button.

3. Once iTunes detects the iPod in recovery mode, click the restore button.

Good luck.

When creating an Apple ID for the first time, a person has to enter credit card
info. Once the New Account has been created, the person can go to Settings,
iTunes & App store & edit their account to show No credit card on file. This
may work if an iTunes card is used at the time of creating the new iTunes
account.

RE: Reviving a Dead Touch

2015-12-22 Thread SSEric
I want to thank you all for your suggestions. The steps Christopher offered
did the trick. Huge thanks to you! I didn't think I would ever get there
because during restore I kept getting an error message that it could not
reach the servers.

A follow-up or continuation of this problem is when I tried restoring from a
backup on my PC, I was asked for a password. I tried my Apple password but
it will not take that. Is there another password? I sure don't remember
using anything else

Interesting, after I wrote last night, I tried using Find My iPhone. I was
able to trigger the pinging. Unfortunately, I was not able to stop it, since
the thing was dead. It finally ran itself out, I guess.

I have not had anyone look at the screen to see if that is working, but I do
have voiceover. If anyone knows about that password iTunes wants to restore
a backup, I will be most grateful. If I cant get to it not a huge deal. It
might be time to start from scratch anyway

Again, to everyone, thank you!

Eric

Please try the following steps.
Assuming the USB cable is still connected to both iPod and computer:

1. Press and hold the home and sleep/wake buttons for at least ten seconds.

2. After that time, release the sleep/wake button and keep the home button
held down until iTunes detects the iPod in recovery mode. Release the home
button.

3. Once iTunes detects the iPod in recovery mode, click the restore button.

Good luck.

Re: Enter an apple id with out entering payment details(pritty urgent)

2015-12-22 Thread Richard Turner

When I spoke with Apple Accessibility in the last couple months about this,
they said you have to enter credit card info so they can confirm it is really
you, then you can go back in and update the credit card info to be none.
A coworker successfully did this and all was fine.
In either case, perhaps they should contact Apple directly to see if they have
another way.

In Pages: How to do a search

2015-12-22 Thread Daniel Gartmann
Hello,

In Pages on my iPad Air 2 running latest IOS, I can't fully take advantage
of the "find" feature. How do you use this feature to quickly get to a
specific place in a document?

I do a Cmd+f, enter the text, and hear VoiceOver announce the first
occurance. But I don't know how to get to the spot where the search result
is.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Best regards

Daniel

Re: Enter an apple id with out entering payment details(pritty urgent)

2015-12-22 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi!
You should set the 'none' as a payment method. If you are not
offered with that option, you'll need to create another Apple ID
from the AppStore by downloading some free app. Be careful to choose
'none' as payment method while you're doing this.

Re: Getting YouTube without ads

Whenever I have used the You-Player app, I have never been served an
ad. Also, when I convert YouTube videos to MP3 using the converter on
the web, I have never received an ad from the downloaded video. The

I don't own a Chromecast, but my understanding is that in apps that support it,
once you choose the Chromecast option, the Chromecast actually takes over the
streaming. This makes it different from AirPlay in that AirPlay streams
wirelessly from one device to another. So if you use Chromecast to watch a
Netflix movie, once you've found that movie on your phone and initiated the
Chromecast session, you could take your phone entirely out of the loop, even
power it down.

Hello,
The Chrome Cast works a bit differently than the Apple TV. Chrome Cast depends
on the app on your phone. For example the Net Flix app on your phone will have
a button that says something like cast to chrome cast or something like that.
In a way it is better than the Apple TV. Also the Chrome Cast is only $35
compared to the $150 price tag of the new Apple TV.

Playlist workflow

2015-12-22 Thread Traci
Hi all,

I am new to the work flow app. The work flow I am trying to set up is play
playlist. Could someone explain the actions and options below choosing the play
list? I'm not fully understanding them and I simply want to play my play list
from notification center.

As a side question, do you know if there is a way to select a play list from
inside a play list folder?

Thank you,
Traci

Re: Ibod shuffle, is this what i need?

2015-12-22 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi!
As I said before, I didn't follow the previous thread and I don't
know do you already have some iDevice or not. If you have one than
you should consider two more solutions.
1. Buying some kind of BT speaker such as Jambox or SoundBrick could
help. As I know, both of them are capable of advancing and skipping
tracks via buttons on them so you don't actually need Voice Over. I
don't know are they cheaper than the Air Express or similar gadgets
but you can use it for other purposes and both have decent sound
quality and for what it's worth, they are portable.
2. Buying external BT keyboard is also a good solution. With
physical keyboard you can operate playback with no speech output
when you learn the shortcuts and there could be the keyboard with
dedicated multimedia buttons as we seen on Windows PCs. There's also
a bunch of things you can do with the keyboard besides operating the
Music Player.
And, if you don't have an iDevice and still considering what to buy
there are tones of simple USB MP3 Players with buttons on them which
you can use for the things you described and they cost from $5 to
$20.

I didn't follow this whole thread about Apple TV, Air Express

If you need to play music over the big speakers, no matter is
it wired or wireless connection you simply can start playback
and disable Voice Over completely with tripple click Home or
just mute the speech with three finger double tap. After you
finished with listening just re-enable Voice Over with the
same shortcut or if you just muted the speech, double tap
  again with three fingers.
And about the iPod Shuffle. If you listen to the music on it
with no interfering you don't hear Voice Over and you can even
advance or skip tracks with no speech feedback. But, it has
only 2 gigs of storage and it's not what I'd called the
luckiest solution for home listening. It's more than nice to
carry around but I'd prefer something with more storage for
usage at home. And, it can only be connected via cable, it has

Re: A Braille Smart Watch?

2015-12-22 Thread Ah rum Choi

Hello,

I kept interest in the company and found this message. I thought it would
be nice to share with you people.

"Thank you very much for your interest in the Dot smartwatch. Our team has
working hard to develop a master piece. And due to few remain tech issues
such as water-dust protection, we are still in the development phase yet.
Simultaneously, we have doing a lot of pilot tests of the dot smartwatch
with local users these days.

Since we are developing an entirely new product, there were many
technological obstacles, however we overcame most of them until now, and we
forecast to overcome few remain issues until the next spring, and prepare
to release the dot smart watch on upcoming summer. We would sincerely ask
your patience and understand of this extremely hard new development path.

We want to make a product that you would truly satisfy. If you have any
ideas of functions or suggestions, Please let us know. And for sure, we
will keep update our progress to you.

The DOT Team"

 This is the exact message.

Thanks
