Look at DropText. It does synch with DropBox but is closest to the old
Windows Notes program I have found. I am pretty sure it is free.

Hi,

I'm looking for or need to be reminded of an app I already have that's like
a blank sheet of paper that I can paste text onto. I know the native Notes
app used to be close to this until the "improved" it and made it fancy.

I'm trying to follow a pattern and find Voice Dream, Drop Box, iBooks, Notes
all to be frustrating. Any suggestions are appreciated and thanks in

Re: Anyone tried updated version of grub hub?

2016-01-10 Thread Don Breda

Hi there.

Well I have been struggling a bit to decide whether to write grubhub
about the new app for several reasons.

1. I like a lot of what they did with the new app and I can't say they
have broken accessibility although such things as having the menu
button called hamburger which I have seen in other apps and removing
the tabs at the bottom of the screen suggest that accessibility has
possibly fallen off the radar a bit.

I suspect the development team has been changed over there.

Having said this I also feel the app is somewhat less efficient to use
then before which concerns me.

I do like some things about it though.

I like the fact that you know a restaurants distance away from you
immediately.

I do miss the headings in the menus but they have been replaced by a
categories button so the effect and of using headings is not lost for us
although its a bit more inefficient.

Also yesterday I tried to use the app and it kept crashing on me which
hadn't happened in my earlier uses of the new version so I suspect
updates will come soon.

Don't write it off, give it a chance.

Its not as bad as you might think on first use but I am still not sure
yet if I will write grubhub or what I will say to them if and when I do.

I probably will write to keep accessibility on their radar, they have
been very responsive to that in the past but I don't feel at this point
that accessibility has been broken in any way yet.

RE: Temporary fix for Netflix audio description on the 4th gen apple TV

2016-01-10 Thread Tom Rash
I tried this last night. It appeared, for me, that when you selected the
audio description for a particular movie, it worked, but if you went to
another movie, you'd have to make that adjustment again. To get audio
description. Is that correct, or is it supposed to be on for all selections
once you turn on the audio description?

Hi Tom,

The girl I spoke to said she didn't do anything on her end except she walked
me through a bunch of steps she said they had to follow. These included
making sure my Apple TV was up-to-date and then mainly I think to sign out
of Netflix on the Apple TV and then to sign back in. Then we chose the movie
Titanic because I had looked up what movies had described audio before and
knew it did, I started playing it, she told me to swipe down on the
TouchPad, this gives you "Info", "Subtitles" and "Audio". These are tabs and
if you swipe right to the audio tab and then click the TouchPad (I think you
can also just swipe down) you land on "English", click it with the TouchPad
and then swipe down and in my case I then had "English Audio Description AD"
or something like that, I just clicked it, the movie was playing in the
background while I did this and as soon as I did the descriptions started
playing.

Sieghard

You can turn it off and on? I knew they could turn it on for you. I wrote

let us know it was working. So in order to get it going, we need to have

Hi all,

I am picking up on a 2-months old thread here since I kept Rick's message
where he explained his ordeal in trying to get audio descriptions enabled on
his Apple TV Fourth Gen.
Tonight I had some time and finally thought I call Netflix and see if they
can also enable audio descriptions for me on my Apple TV 4th Gen. The first
guy I spoke to eventually and upon my request put me through to his
supervisor, a very snooty lady named Jasmin. She claimed that the Netflix
app was made by Apple and eventually I just hung up on her.

The second call went to a nice young lady, again I explained and quoted the
help article which the first guy told me pulled up a page not found error
for him. Anyhow, after she checked with her supervisor whom she assured me
was not Jasmin, she asked me to check for software updates, I explained that
there really was no point since my Apple TV was up-to-date, but she was nice
about explaining they had to follow a protocol so I humoured her and did
what she said. She also wanted to know if I had software version 7.2 or
higher and I explained to her that this was a fourth gen Apple TV which
started with 9.0 and is now at 9.1 Again she said nicely that she just had
to make sure.

She then asked me to open the Netflix app and to start playing a movie I
knew had audio descriptions, she suggested Dare Devils, but I already had
Titanic queued up and I know from having looked at the list of audio
described movies on my computer earlier that Titanic was in the list. As
soon as it was playing she asked me to swipe down on the TouchPad on the
remote and to swipe over to Audio. She asked me to tell her what was there,
I said I had "English", "Full Dynamic Range" and "Apple TV".
She then asked me to sign out of Netflix and back in and I was about to tell
her that this would make no difference and it is her who has to enable the
audio descriptions for me on their end. Anyhow, I once again thought I
humour her even though I really wasn't looking forward to typing my email
address and 14-digit password which has everything from lower case and
upper case letters to numbers and symbols. But I suffered through it, after
I was signed in again she asked me to play Titanic again. I did and again
swiped down, then right to Audio and she then asked me to click on
"English". I did and surprise, surprise, I now had "English Audio
Description AD as an option. I was able to click on that and my described
audio started playing on the fly.

So, it appears that the latest Netflix update has fixed this issue and it is
once again possible to enable and disable this. Maybe I missed this, but I
assume this would have generated a

Re: Anyone tried updated version of grub hub?

2016-01-10 Thread Kathy Brandt
The hamburger button isn't a problem for me. I wasn't necessarily concerned
with knowing how far a place was from me, since if the restaurants coming up
our location specific, it stands to reason that they be in my delivery area,
which is all I care about. It's the unlabeled buttons and not being immediately
apparent how to bring up the address where you'd like to order from that
bothers me. Previous versions of the app were more compact; I understood better
what you were supposed to do. And they need to know about if it's crashing, or
what you think is inefficient. I hope you do write to them, since they'll have
more to go on if it's more than just me doing so.

Live 365 apparent demise

2016-01-10 Thread Kathy Brandt
Really sorry to see it. I got a message saying I was going to be refunded what
was left of my subscription, which is sad, because it had some neat offerings.
Just mentioning since I had the app. Apparently they are going out of business
due to the higher licensing fees for broadcasters. Was wondering if there was
anything comparable out there.

For curated radio, it depends on the genre. For example,
JazzRadio.com has its own app. Also, there is the Radium and OOTunes
apps along with the Internet only stations found on tuneIn Radio.

The Spotifys and Pandoras along with Apple Music are taking over the
Internet music world. There is always loading up your favorite music
to iTunes and syncing it to your iPhone.

Re: Fopydo with book reading aid is great

2016-01-10 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Kathy,

It’s easy to put together once you understand how to do it. The most awkward
bit is sliding the two stiff wires into the base. But if you look at how
they’re fitted into the upright piece, it makes sense.
I sit the stand on my lap with the upright piece to my right. I then place the
book between the foam pads in the same position as you would place it for
reading normally. The iPhone just stays put on the shelf.
I use KNFBReader so I just click the Take Picture button and it starts reading.
While it reads, I turn the page. When it stops reading, I click the Back button
and the focus is back on the Take Picture button.
It really couldn’t be easier to use!

Cheers,

Anne

RE: Temporary fix for Netflix audio description on the 4th gen apple TV

2016-01-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
That I don't know although to me it would make sense in a way if you had to
turn it on individually for each movie. Of course one can argue it may just as
much or more sense if you could turn it on for good. However, since it's not
something you can turn or off in the main settings of the Netflix app but
instead it is a setting that is part of the movie like subtitles, I assume you
have to turn it on for each movie.

I tried this last night. It appeared, for me, that when you selected the audio
description for a particular movie, it worked, but if you went to another
movie, you'd have to make that adjustment again. To get audio description. Is
that correct, or is it supposed to be on for all selections once you turn on
the audio description?

Hi Tom,

The girl I spoke to said she didn't do anything on her end except she walked me
through a bunch of steps she said they had to follow. These included making
sure my Apple TV was up-to-date and then mainly I think to sign out of Netflix
on the Apple TV and then to sign back in. Then we chose the movie Titanic
because I had looked up what movies had described audio before and knew it did,
I started playing it, she told me to swipe down on the TouchPad, this gives you
"Info", "Subtitles" and "Audio". These are tabs and if you swipe right to the
audio tab and then click the TouchPad (I think you can also just swipe down)
you land on "English", click it with the TouchPad and then swipe down and in my
case I then had "English Audio Description AD"
or something like that, I just clicked it, the movie was playing in the
background while I did this and as soon as I did the descriptions started
playing.

Regards,
Sieghard

You can turn it off and on? I knew they could turn it on for you. I wrote

Hi all,

I am picking up on a 2-months old thread here since I kept Rick's message where
he explained his ordeal in trying to get audio descriptions enabled on his
Apple TV Fourth Gen.
Tonight I had some time and finally thought I call Netflix and see if they can
also enable audio descriptions for me on my Apple TV 4th Gen. The first guy I
spoke to eventually and upon my request put me through to his supervisor, a
very snooty lady named Jasmin. She claimed that the Netflix app was made by
Apple and eventually I just hung up on her.

The second call went to a nice young lady, again I explained and quoted the
help article which the first guy told me pulled up a page not found error for
him. Anyhow, after she checked with her supervisor whom she assured me was not
Jasmin, she asked me to check for software updates, I explained that there
really was no point since my Apple TV was up-to-date, but she was nice about
explaining they had to follow a protocol so I humoured her and did what she
said. She also wanted to know if I had software version 7.2 or higher and I
explained to her that this was a fourth gen Apple TV which started with 9.0 and
is now at 9.1 Again she said nicely that she just had to make sure.

She then asked me to open the Netflix app and to start playing a movie I knew
had audio descriptions, she suggested Dare Devils, but I already had Titanic
queued up and I know from having looked at the list of audio described movies
on my computer earlier that Titanic was in the list. As soon as it was playing
she asked me to swipe down on the TouchPad on the remote and to swipe over to
Audio. She asked me to tell her what was there, I said I had "English", "Full
Dynamic Range" and "Apple TV".
She then asked me to sign out of Netflix and back in and I was about to tell
her that this would make no difference and it is her who has to enable the
audio descriptions for me on their end. Anyhow, I once again

Once it's enabled, it's on for everything. You have to go back and manually
select the non-audio described English track if you want to go back to no audio
description.

Skype or Equivalent for IOS

2016-01-10 Thread Dan Rathburn

Hello,

I have an iPhone 6 Plus and I want to do video calls with someone else using
either a PC or an Android phone. I want to e able to share sensitive
information with a trusted individual. Is skype accessible enough or is
there an alternative out there?

Thanks,

Dan

Re: Anyone tried updated version of grub hub?

2016-01-10 Thread igor_kaplan
Yes, I also found the new version very confusing and after trying to play
with that for half an hour or so decided to try to downgrade it. I really
did not find anything to like about this version. It is very, very
confusing. I have several delivery addresses and I had tough time to select
my current address as the default. Then I completely was not able to see
all menu items and select what I want. May be the accessibility is there
and may be if I try hard enough I would figure it out, the problem is, it
is the utility program which is only used when I need to order some food
and I really enjoyed the fast and simple way to order in prior version.
Unfortunately with such big changes, they are here to stay. They will
never return to the old interface and I also tried the android version, it
is the same.
So I'll try to downgrade, if that does not work, will use the grubhub
internet page to order. I really like the service and would not like to
give up using it only because they decided for new application interface.

Re: Lost iPhone 6S - insurances do sometimes pay

2016-01-10 Thread Kelly Pierce
When I bought my iPhone 5 in December 2012, I believed Apple Care at
that time did not cover water damage. I bought a three-year warrantee
from Square Trade. Fortunately, I have not needed to use my warrantee.
I also bought a Ballistic Hard Core case, which has protected my
iPhone from the many drops over the last three years.

In reflection on this issue, I feel the three-year warrantee left me
feel unnecessarily attached to my iPhone, keeping it longer than what
I might have. The replacement cost of a 2.5-year iPhone is not much
and I would rather have the most current model than one more than two
years old. In the future, I plan to get a two-year warrantee instead
of a three-year warrantee. Also, credit card companies can double the
length of a company warrantee. Has anyone skipped Apple Care and used
their credit card’s extended warrantee service for iPhone problems? I
wonder if this would be as good as Apple Care or Square Trade.

touch the volume control for this to happen, I
have seen it happen randomly and with no
apparent reason. It's easy to illuminate this,
next time you think Voiceover has turned itself
off just plug in a headset before you do
anything else and see if Voiceover works with
the headset. If it does then you have your
answer, it's a volume issue and not a Voiceover
turning itself off issue. You can also try to
use SIRI instead of the triple click home, if
you ask SIRI to "Turn Voiceover On" and you get
"Voiceover is already on" then you also know
that there is another issue. I certainly had this happen as well.

Hi Robin,

My understanding is that Apple Care gives you free phone support for two years
and is meant to cover defects in the productt. It's an extension of the
one-year warranty. Apple Care Plus lets you get the phone fixed if you do
something that damages it, like drop it or get it wet, but you pay an extra fee
when you get it fixed, and you can only get it fixed a limited number of times
during the two-year period. If I remember right, it's two times, but I could be
wrong about that.

Best,
Anna

RE: Skype or Equivalent for IOS

2016-01-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Dan,

As Hope pointed out, Skype is super accessible and Microsoft seems to be quite
commited to accessibility for the last couple of years (at least when it comes
to Skype) so I'd definitely recommend it. Skype also uses very efficient
compression technology and calls are usually very good. Nowadays you can also
make voice calls with Whats App and Facebook, but of course Whats App is
lacking support on the PC side unless you use their new web interface and I
have no idea about its accessibility. Skype, on the other hand, is also very
accessible on the Windows PC provided you use the desktop version. There are
separate apps for Skype chat, Skype audio calls and Skype video calls for
Windows 10, but I have a feeling their accessibility is lacking and if you are
a Windows 10 user I'd stick with the regular desktop app you can download from
www.Skype.com rather than the apps from the Windows app store.

apple id mix up please help?

2016-01-10 Thread Zoe Fiogkos
Hi guys
I have an iPhone 6 plus. I use to use windows laptop to update and back up
my iPhone.
Now I use my mac to do all the stuff I need to do with my iPhone, but the
problem is that my husband got a free iPhone 6 and before I set it up for
him I backed up his old iPhone on the windows laptop without signing out of
my apple id and now everytime he tries to download something from his app
store it makes him use my apple id even though I've now logged out of my
apple id on the laptop and his iphone.
an apple id and
any ideas how I can solve this. On the laptop I've signed in with his apple
id but still having the same problems. Help please
regards
Zoe

RE: Lost iPhone 6S - insurances do sometimes pay

2016-01-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Robin, Kelly and Anna,

First of all, Apple Care Plus definitely does not cover lost or stolen phones.
I called them first to ask even though I was pretty sure this was the case.
Apple Care Plus will cover repair or replacement of a damaged iPhone even if
you yourself caused the damage, e.g. you dropped it and the screen shattered
or, as in my case, you fell on it and bend the phone. Apple Care Plus also
covers replacement of defective Lightning cables or Earpods and I believe Anna
is correct, they'll replace 2 Earpods, Lightning cables or repair/replace the
phone twice in the two-year period.

I would be very careful with any credit card insurance and I would certainly
not rely on it. I also called Mastercard since while my 6S that I lost was
charged to my phone bill, that phone bill is set up to be automatically charged
to my Mastercard each month so in essence the phone was paid by Mastercard. I
do have various insurances as this is one of their top premium cards, but it
appears that they do anything to not pay. First of all, when I called and
explained the situation I felt I was treated like a minor criminal, the
representative seemed to have made up his mind already that this was not
covered and that I was probably just trying to defraud the insurance company.
By the way, at least here in Canada the insurance is not through Mastercard
directly, you do actually deal with an independent insurance company which
provides the insurance. In this case, it is Alliance Global Assistance or
something like that and they offer everything from out of country medical,
travel cancellation and extended warranty/theft. However, apparently only theft
was covered and not accidental loss. This means I should have probably looked
up the fine print on the policy, filed a police report that my phone was stolen
and then contact them with that claim. Of course for me that does go against
the grain because I would technically be lying which I try not to do. My
experience with the credit card insurance was therefore as bad as my experience
with my home insurance company was good. My cheque for $1,029 is already in the
mail, all was done during a single 10 or 15 minute phone call and all I had to
submit to them was the invoice for my original phone (the one I lost) and the
invoice for the replacement phone I ordered. A new 6S here is $1,029 + $ 123.48
taxes (12%) for a total of $1,152.48. Off that amount comes my $100 deductable
which theoretically means the insurance should have paid $1,052.48. However,
they apparently only pay a maximum of $1,029 so even after the deductible it
covers the full purchase price and all I am left with is the taxes. Since I can
buy the phone through my business I can claim one of the two taxes back which
is a 5% tax and all I am left with is 7% of the 12% so $72.03. Since I decided
to buy a 6S Plus instead of replacing my 6S I of course am paying more, but I'm
still very happy that they covered it and if we find my 6S in the spring when
the snow is gone I could probably get it replace through Apple Care Plus unless
of course it still works. I'll let you all know some time in late March or
April.

Sieghard

Best,
Anna

RE: apple id mix up please help?

2016-01-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Zoe,

Here is how to do this without erasing everything:

1. Open the App Store

2. The “Features” tab at the bottom left should be selected, if it is
not, double tap on it to select it.

3. Now touch the features tab again and then swipe left, you should be on
“Terms and Conditions”, if not, touch again the Features tab and swipe left
again, sometimes it takes a moment for the page to load.

4. Swipe left one more time and you should hear “Apple Id” followed by
your Apple Id email address. Double tap on this button and you hear a tone and
a few options pop up, you’ll find the following on the screen:

Apple Id – this is at thr top

Your Apple Id email address – this is o the second line or if you swipe right
once

View Apple Id button – this is the first button you can tap

Sign Out

I forget – this is if you forgot your password and want to reset it

Cancel – to cancel out of that screen.

5. You want to tap on “Sign Out”.

6. You are now back to the main screen and where before when you swiped
left once from Terms and Conditions you had your Apple Id, you now have a “sign
In” button, double tap on it.

7. You will have two options: “Use existing Apple Id” and “Create New
Apple Id”. Double tap on “Use existing Apple Id” since your husband has an
Apple Id already.

8. On the next screen you have two edit fields, one to type in your
husband’s Apple Id and then of course one for his Apple Id password. Enter
these and tap on “OK” then he’ll be signed in with his Apple Id.

If he is also signed in to iMessage and Facetime with your Apple Id you have to
go to each of them in Settings > Messages and Settings > Facetime, double tap
on the Apple Id, sign out and sign back in with his Apple Id. Potentially you
also want to check in Settings > iCloud and make sure he is signed in there
with his own Apple Id.

Good luck,

Sieghard

setting up the touch ID to unlock my iphone

2016-01-10 Thread Casey
Hi I have the iPhone 6S plus and I am trying to use my thumb print to
unlock my phone.
Well I go in to the touch ID settings and press my thumb where it says
and then left my finger when it tells me to and do it again and again
like it says.
Then it says adjust my grip so I find the continue button the screen and
press it.
And use my thumb and left it again like it says until it tells me that
my finger print is ready to use.

Well okay so I hit the home button and then lock my phone.
Once that is done I rest my thumb on the home button and nothing happens
isn't the phone supposed to unlock?
I don't have pass code in the phone do I have to have on in the phone
for the touch ID to work?
If not then how do I make the touch ID to work cause I am unsuccessful
at this point.

Or can you not set this with voice over running?
I also have A case on the phone does this matter in any way?

Is your App Store app slow/sluggish? Here is how to clear the App Store cache

2016-01-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi all,

Just was listening to the Today in iOS Podcast and picked up a titbit of
information I didn't know before. Apparently you can clear the cache in the
App Store app (this works also in the Podcasts, iTunes and iBooks apps) by
doing the following:

1. Open the App Store app

2. Put focus on the "Featured" or "Top Charts" tab in any of these
apps.

3. Tap the tab 10 times quickly. For a sighted person the screen
flickers after the tenth tap and this apparently clears the cache for the
app and this in turn may (or may not) improve the performance of your phone.
I find with Voiceover it is easiest to split tap, just find the tab and keep
one finger on it, then use another finger to tap 10 times quickly. After the
tenth tap you'll hear the same little tone that you hear when you open an
app and I guess this is the same as a sighted person seeing the screen
flicker.

Here is a link to an article on CultofMac about this:

http://www.cultofmac.com/404462/app-store-app-acting-weird-try-this-quick-fi
x/

Regards,

Sieghard

Unfortunately, you have to have a passcode on the phone for the finger print to

RE: setting up the touch ID to unlock my iphone

2016-01-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Casey,

First of all, you must have set a passcode because you can't add a fingerprint
without adding a passcode. There are situations when your fingerprint won't
unlock the phone. For example, if you turn your phone off to reboot it or if
you have to do a reset using the power and home buttons together, you have to
unlock your phone with the passcode the first time after it reboots, only then
you can use your fingerprint again.
Also, if your phone doesn't unlock with the fingerprint a certain number of
times you have to use the passcode.

Now, as for unlocking via touch Id, do you just put your finger on the home
button or do you actually press the home button? Touch Id only works after you
wake up the phone by pressing either the power or home button. Especially with
the 6S and 6S Plus, recognition is literally lightning fast so with a bit of
practice you can press the home button and unlock all at the same time. Just
press the home button with your thumb or whatever finger you scanned. Press it
just quickly, then release it, but leave your finger resting on the home button
for just a moment, typically half a second is enough and this should then
unlock your phone. Alternatively you can press the home button with another
finger or press the power button, then once the phone is on the lock screen,
put you rthumb on the home button but this time don't press it. Your phone
should unlock.

I hope you can get it unlocked because if you can't and you don't know your
passcode you'll not be able to use your phone and you most likely will have to
force it into recovery mode and reinstall iOS 9.2 and then set it up as a new
phone.

As for the case you have, does it cover the home button? I believe some cases
can be used with Touch Id even though they cover the home button (Lifeproof I
think has one), but typically I think Touch Id works better without anything
covering the home button. But, as I said, one key thing is that you do have to
wake up the phone first before Touch Id will unlock it.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: setting up the touch ID to unlock my iphone

Hi I have the iPhone 6S plus and I am trying to use my thumb print to unlock my
phone.
Well I go in to the touch ID settings and press my thumb where it says and then
left my finger when it tells me to and do it again and again like it says.
Then it says adjust my grip so I find the continue button the screen and press
it.
And use my thumb and left it again like it says until it tells me that my
finger print is ready to use.
Well okay so I hit the home button and then lock my phone.
Once that is done I rest my thumb on the home button and nothing happens isn't
the phone supposed to unlock?
I don't have pass code in the phone do I have to have on in the phone for the
touch ID to work?
If not then how do I make the touch ID to work cause I am unsuccessful at this
point.
Or can you not set this with voice over running?
I also have A case on the phone does this matter in any way?

Hi Ed,

You could put braille books from Bookshare into BARD Mobile and read them with
a braille display. If you want to listen to the books, though, you'll need an
app like Voice dream Reader.

Best,

Good luck,
Sieghard

2016-01-10 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi,

I'm trying to find the way to cancel digital (Kindle) magazine subscriptions

Does anyone here know how to do it?

Thanks in advance, Keith

Re: Live 365 apparent demise

2016-01-10 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
That is indeed too bad. I liked their video game music channel, Infinite Bit
Radio. It would be nice if Apple Music had a radio station like that but I
doubt they'll get the rights to play that kind of music.

AIPoly VS CamFind

2016-01-10 Thread Richard Turner
I compared AIPoly with Camfind, both with color and objects.
Here are my results for color.
Navy blue sweat pants: AIPoly had various shades of gray, CamFind said black
(which is much closer.)
Oak end table: aIPoly said various shades of gray, CamFind said brown.

Medium blue recliner: AIPoly said gray, Camfind said blue.

My wife, who is sighted, said the bright light with AIPoly made everything look
gray. It is too bad they don't give you the option to not use the flash.
With objects, CamFind even identified the oak end table as a wood table from
just a small corner, while AIPoly said it wasn't sure.
Camfind also identified the sweat pants and recliner correctly.
I have now deleted AIPoly.

thanks for the touch id help

2016-01-10 Thread Casey

Hi I have my touch ID up and working thanks for the help on list with that.
Now I have another question.
that is I have the Motorola elite flip Bluetooth ear piece.
Now I have connected it to my iPhone 6S plus.
So I placed A call with it and when i said call.
It made a loud buzzing noise when it connected the call.
So does this mean I can use this ear piece with this phone and have to
look for something different.
Or what do I have to do if anything to make this not happen when making
A call?

Hello,
I'd rather someone confirms, but what if you log into iCloud, delete his
backups, then, log him out of everywhere, and sign him into his? If fail,
you'll have to what Joseph said.

Just Another Point of View on Enjoying Audible Titles

2016-01-10 Thread M. Taylor
Hello All,

I have been following the conversation on the Audible thread and wanted to
offer my point of view.

While I do have the Audible app on my iPhone and, in fact, have an Audible
account, I prefer to purchase my Audible titles via iTunes for, as far as I
can tell, only those titles purchased through iTunes can also be played on
the Nano.

Generally speaking, when out and about, I prefer to use my Nano for
listening to content, whenever possible so as to conserve as much iPhone
battery power as possible. I think the Nano is one of the slickest devices
Apple offers and I love using it.

Just another point of view on enjoying Audible titles.

Mark

Re: Just Another Point of View on Enjoying Audible Titles

Not to start an argument, but I have a Nano and listen to Audible books on
it just fine. If you import the audible books to ITunes you can synch to the
Nano and it is such a small little player it is perfect for purse or pocket.

Re: Just Another Point of View on Enjoying Audible Titles

2016-01-10 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Mark,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time I looked at any audiobooks on
iTunes, the prices were a lot more than what you would pay if you purchase them
with credits on audible, especially if you have something like the platinum
plan, or even the gold plan. I hear what you're saying about battery life. But
the premium you pay for that privilege is just entirely too much in my view.
Have things changed regarding pricing?

RE: Just Another Point of View on Enjoying Audible Titles

2016-01-10 Thread M. Taylor
Hello,

In the spirit of brevity, I’m going to place my responses to the various
comments/questions in this thread, in one reply:

Marie:
I completely agree with you; this is the primary reason why I continue to
purchase my Audible titles via iTunes.

Mary:
I cannot comment as to the prices one pays via iTunes as opposed to the various
native Audible plans as for me, the decisive factor is the ability to play my
purchases on all of my iOS devices, not just the ones capable of supporting the
Audible app. Based on what Sieghard posted a while back, I suspect that it is
more cost-effective to use one of the Audible subscription plans rather than
purchasing through iTunes.

Billy:
At present, the Nano can only run Apple iOS apps. Consequently, one cannot
install the Audible app in order to listen to purchases.

Cathy,
The Nano, or more correctly, iPod Nano, is a scaled-down version of a full-size
iPod.

Mark

Not to start an argument, but I have a Nano and listen to Audible books on it
just fine. If you import the audible books to ITunes you can synch to the Nano
and it is such a small little player it is perfect for purse or pocket.

Subject: Just Another Point of View on Enjoying Audible Titles

Hello All,

I have been following the conversation on the Audible thread and wanted to
offer my point of view.

While I do have the Audible app on my iPhone and, in fact, have an Audible
account, I prefer to purchase my Audible titles via iTunes for, as far as I can
tell, only those titles purchased through iTunes can also be played on the Nano.

Generally speaking, when out and about, I prefer to use my Nano for listening
to content, whenever possible so as to conserve as much iPhone battery power as
possible. I think the Nano is one of the slickest devices Apple offers and I
love using it.

Just another point of view on enjoying Audible titles.

Mark
