RE: is amazon music for I devices and pc accessible?

2016-03-10 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Again Ari,

Well, I just spent over an hour with my Amazon online music library, IE11, and
Jaws for Windows, version 16.

I must tell you that my experience with using Jaws instead of Zoomtext was
vastly different and not, in my opinion, in a good way.

Now keep in mind that I am not an advanced Jaws user, anymore, especially when
it comes to using web browsers so take what I write with a grain of salt, as it
were.

I was surprised at how unstructured the Amazon Music Library is with regard to
Jaws. For example, there are no headings to speak of and, worst still, the
tracks appear not to be listed in a table, proper.

While I did find it easy to download various tracks, I have no doubt that this
is because I had previously seen the structure of the interface, visually. I
don't think I could have made heads or tails out of anything had I not
experienced the interface, over the past couple of months, with my eyes, on a
desktop PC using a screen magnifier.

Just so you know, I used a laptop running Windows 7 with IE 11 and absolutely
no screen magnification. In short, I did not and could not use my eyes.
Although I do have the latest version of Jaws on one of my Desktops, I wanted
to make certain that I would not cheat during the experience by leaning in and
peeping at the monitor (smile). How's that for honesty? (big smile)

To be honest, were I to lose the ability to use Zoomtext in order to access the
Amazon music library, I would probably never buy another song from them,
preferring instead to use iTunes.

Again, I am not an advanced Jaws user. In fact, I had to type the direct URL
into the browser in order to locate my online music library as I could not get
Jaws to land on the Music Library link on the main page of Amazon. The direct
URL to your Amazon music library is:
http://amazon.com/musiclibrary

Okay, there you have it from my perspective.

Mark

Mark, i've had a horrible time trying to use the Amazon music downloader
program for Windows with NVDA. I haven't found the browser experience to be any
better. Have you tried using a screen reader instead of Zoom text to access
your music and downloaded from the web, without using the downloader program?

Thanks,
Ari

Hello there! You may want to take a look at the BlindAlive.com website. They
have Pilates Level 1 and Level 2 workouts. The woman who started this
movement, is blind, so all exercises or fully accessable. You can buy workouts
via download and/or physical CDs. Exercises or explain in full detail right on
the website. You can listen to the exercises, and practice them before your
workout arrives. I was so excited, I ordered every physical CD, which is
cheaper than getting a gym membership and or signing up with one of the local
groups around here for exercise. I encourage any blind person who is looking
to get healthy or stay fit, to check out that website. Hope this helps.

SIRI now integrates with shazam, there is really no need for the app any more,
you can just ask SIRI.

RE: Sonos

2016-03-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Just one thing I’d like to add and that is that there is a tuning option to
optimize the Play 5 to a particular room. Sonos calls this “TruePlay” but if
you want to do this you will need sighted help, it is not accessible if
Voiceover is running.

Also, FYI, while the new Play 5 has no longer a headphone jack, it is supposed
to sound much better than the older ones.

Hi,

Yes and yes. Set up is a breeze and poses no problems for blind or visually
impaired users no matter which model you get in my experience. Once your
library is indexed by the sonos system then you could play anything you might
have in terms of sound files from your computer.

the only difference between first and 2nd generation play:5 for instance is the
location of the button you press to initiate its detection by the system. In
first gen it’s on top of the unit whereas in the newer 2nd generation it’s on
the back of the unit. It’s nearly flush with the back of the unit but still
detectable by touch once you know to look for it. I don’t think you’d have any
trouble should you choose to try one; and the Play:5 still has the auxiliary
input jack as well. I just thought I’d mention that.

I hope that helps.

Hi,

It is true that it hasn’t a headphone jack in the 2nd generation which to me

I was just reading the reviews of the Sonos Play 5 and there were complaints
that there was no output jack on this speaker? I was under the impressions that
it did have a headphone jack but wonder if it was removed in the newer model.
This is a real turn off for me. I guess I should have bought one earlier.

Re: Pilates or yoga apps?

2016-03-10 Thread Gadget Girl

Regards,

Re: best way to check Verizon data usage

2016-03-10 Thread Chris Chaffin

I use the widget from the Verizon App. The app is very accessible with voice
over, but if you use the widget, it allows you to keep track of your total data
usage very easily by just checking on your today screen.
And just by double tapping on the amount of data you have used on your today
screen, it will open up the Verizon app to the screen with the data usage
divided up by each device.

Since I have four devices on my plan, it is important that I keep an eye on my
total data used.
Now, when you first download the app, you will of coarse have to sign in with
your Verizon log in information. But after that you should be all set.

If you have any questions, let me know, and I will try to help out in any way I
can.
Please find the app store link below.

best way to check Verizon data usage

2016-03-10 Thread R VanLant
For the first time in the 3 years I've had an iPhone, I got a text from
Verizon saying I'd used 75% of my data for this period. So glad to know
I'll get such a warning. Now that I'm obviously starting to use my phone
more, what is the easiest way to monitor data usage for the current payment
cycle? If my husband gets a phone too and we are on the same shared data
plan, does your recommended method change?

Pilates or yoga apps?

2016-03-10 Thread R VanLant
I recently had the idea to look for pilates or yoga apps to help me do a
home workout. I found several free ones in the app store to download, most
of which seem pretty inaccessible. One seems to hold some promise, but I
have to do in app purchses to get the actual videos, which I have not done
yet. Any luck finding free or low cost workout resources that seem
accessible? I'd most prefer pilates, having done a pilates class in the
past. I'm not into aerobics, just core strengthening.

Re: Strange Occurrence with Apple Maps and Turning Tracking On

Do you have location tracking on for the maps app specifically?

Subject: Strange Occurrence with Apple Maps and Turning Tracking On

Hello to the list.
When I launch Apple Maps, and then try to turn on Traing on with
headings, a dialog pops up and says that location services need to be
enabled, then i have a button to go to settings.

However, location services are already enabled, I can ask Siri for
driving or walking directions, so the maps are working, but when I try
to turn Tracking On, that is when this message comes up regarding
enabling location services.
Has anyone ever encountered this before?
This was not on my own phone, but on a phone where I was attempting to
set this up for a friend.
Thanks for any insight.

Hi,
Yes and yes.

I hope that helps.

model? Also is it easy to stream from your computer over wifi?
Thanks, Marie

I have the exact same model as you. The buttons, from left to right are:
power, auxiliary, Bluetooth, mute, volume down, and volume up. If you hold
down the bluetooth button for about 10 seconds, you'll hear a beep. Then
you can go into your Bluetooth settings and you should find it there. Hope
this helps. You will probably want to forget the device first.

While this would certainly be a great addition to the system, I like listening
to my music via good speakers and since I live alone, I can have it bumped up
as much as I please. If I use headphones, it is usually when listening to a
book or perhaps to music on the ITouch. I use them almost exclusively for books
because it is easier to concentrate.

Hi Marie,

Yes, sadly Sonos at this point is all about listening out loud and all I can
say is to call Sonos or submit feedback via their website to let them know they
really need to look at designing a stand-alone headset which would act as a
separate Sonos Player. I’ve been waiting fore this for at least the last 2 or 3
years and each year I hope they’ll announce such a product. Of course there are
many situations where one would want to listen privately with a headset and
considering how much of a focus there has been on headsets in the last few
years I don’t get it how Sonos isn’t jumping on that bandwagon. I think there
could be either one of two products or both:

one would be high-quality stand-alone audio file quality headphones but of
course such a product would be very pricy considering one can easily spend $500
to $1,000 or even more on true audio file quality wired headphones. I think a
product around $500 to $700 US from Sonos would be the right price point and
one where they could really make it sound awesome.

The other product which I think should be a companion to the headphones would
be a small iPhone-size or slightly thicker headphone amp with rechargeable
battery, a quarter inch headphone jack and belt clip. This would be the product
that connects to the Sonos system and acts as a separate player and it would
allow users to plug in any headset or headphones they have from a cheap $20
pair of earbuds to a pair of Sennheiser HD800S for $1,699 which is probably
about as good as it gets. A product like this should maybe cost $250 to $400 or
$500 at most if they put in really good components and if Sonos were to make
only one product I hope it would be this one as it offers a lot more
flexibility with headsets users already own.

Regards,

Sieghard

Possibly. But with mine, you can have up to two active connections at any one

Rose, sometimes this happens to me with my UE Boom Bluetooth speaker. I
found that the easiest way to resolve this error is to find the more info
button next to the name of your speaker, and double tap it. After that,
you're looking for the option that says forget to device. You're going to
be asked if you're sure, and when you are, hit the OK or yes button. I
forget which one it is now. Anyway, then re-pare the speaker as normal.
When this happens to me, and I forget the device, and then start all over
again, things usually fix themselves. I don't think many speakers have a
specific button that you need to press in order to pare them, other than
the on button, but yours could be different than mine. I'm sorry I can't
help you with specifics on how to pare your specific speaker, but if you
know which button to press, you'll now be starting fresh, and should have
 an easier time of it.

 Thanks,
 Ari

RE: Sonos

2016-03-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Regards,

Sieghard

Hi,
It is true that it hasn’t a headphone jack in the 2nd generation which to me
wasn’t a huge loss as it was formerly located on the back of the unit making it
difficult to access anyway.
I hope that helps.

RE: GV connect and tips

2016-03-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Kevin, Ann said “I needed sighted assistance because of the captcha”. I don’t
use this service so I don’t know if it offers an audio captcha option and of
course I certainly have come across some audio captchas which simply were so
hard to understand that they were useless and while Firefox with Webvisum works
very well, not everybody is using that or knows about it.

Have any of you ever used the GV connect app? If so how was your experience

different one? Thank you for any tips or help with the situation.
PS, I'm using this with my landline telephone. I have called in to my new
number, and cannot set up the voicemail I have press pound and all the other
things you think would get a tent let me get in there to change the greeting or
set up the grading and nothing is working.

The assistive touch basically puts a virtual home button on the screen and you
can do anything you can do with the home button, but it won't help with a

RE: about voice dream reader

I just checked with Winston, the Developer of Voice Dream about the Siri
voices. Here is what he said:

“Siri voices are not available to developers. When they do, of course I’ll open
them up to Voice Dream users.”

I agree with Richard, this is awesome feature and this is what VDR has been
missing since day one it went out. Besides syncing books, bookmarks, reading
position etc iCloud Sync will support one more thing and that is Auto Loader.
Maybe someone doesn't have multiple devices to sync but there's a new and nice

iCloud support you'll find a folder named Loader in your iCloud Drive. You can

RE: doing appointment search

I'm not sure.
Have you tried asking for something like when is my next appointment with dr.
jones in the next year? Or something like that.
Or, typing in the search?

Or, have you tried Fantastical 2 for iPhone? If you type in the search in it,
it doesn't restrict to the next 3 months.

Re: about voice dream reader

2016-03-10 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi Christina!
Notsure what do you mean by "backup" but I'll try to explain.
iCloud is Apples cloud service with 5 gb of free storage. You can
use it for iDevice backup and syncing contacts, calendar events,
iMessages, photos, music, videos, Safari bookmarks etc accross your
iDevices. Some other apps, depending of developers choice, can also
use iCloud for syncing and other stuff and Voice Dream Reader is
going to became such an app.
iCloud Drive is an app to control and manage your iCloud storage.
Using PC, Mac or iOS app you can enter it and copy/paste/delete your
stored files in the cloud.
There are also nice cloud services such as DropBox, Google Drive,
OneDrive and The Box and their usage is more or less pretty much
similar to iCloud usage. The main difference is service provider and
in iCloud case it is Apple and it's native to iDevices and Macs.

Auto Loader? I think that sounds pretty amazing. Will this iCloud
also serve as a backup? I don’t understand iCloud that well. :) I
always thought it would be great to have iCloud sync but never
expected it to happen and certainly not this soon. It sounds like
the developer put a lot of thought into it since he added the auto
loader feature. That is just fantastic. I will definitely take
  advantage of that feature. :)

   Hi!
@Christina; Yes, it would be a one time purchase only.
@Devin; This is why it is optional. If you don't have
multiple iDevices, you're not going to purchase it.
I agree with Richard, this is awesome feature and this
is what VDR has been missing since day one it went out.
Besides syncing books, bookmarks, reading position etc
iCloud Sync will support one more thing and that is Auto
Loader. Maybe someone doesn't have multiple devices to
sync but there's a new and nice way to load books
without iTunes or other cloud storage. After you
activate the iCloud support you'll find a folder named
Loader in your iCloud Drive. You can fill it with books
on your PC or Mac and books and documents from that
folder will automatically be synced to your Voice Dream
Reader Library on the iOS device.

Re: query about tap tap see and now ios 7.1.2

2016-03-10 Thread Nadia Mattiazzo
Hi Donna

I can't download the latest version of the program as I have not yet updated to
ios 7.1.2 because so many people who had iphone 4 were having problems with it.
Is anyone using an iphone 4 with ios 7.1.2? I understand it is slower and I am
going to purchase a new phone but in the meantime any advice re updating the
ios software would be really appreciated.

Delete the app from your phone & reinstall. This should give you the current
version of the app. Purchasing photo packages is no longer necessary.

Hi everyone

I have an iphone 4 (yes I still have one of those) and I'm using Tap Tap
See version 2.1.0 build 38 and I'm being asked to purchase more pictures.
Firstly, I thought this app was now free. Secondly, when I do go to purchase
another package, the purchase button is dimmed and I can't activate it.

I've also checked and there doesn't appear any update notification in my
apps store.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Nadia
There doesn't appear
