TONIDO HELP, PLEASE!

2016-12-19 Thread 'Carol Pearson' via VIPhone

Hi,

If anyone uses this app I need help to get back in. I haven't used it in
a while and don't know, exactly, what I put into the various fields. I
don't understand the HELP well enough so need someone to tell me.

I don't appear to have the original URL for log-in, since I've upgraded
to Windows 10 since that time and it's no longer showing in my favourites.

I can't find anywhere to get my original username/password etc.

Could you kindly write me privately if you can help.

Thanks!

Carol P - UK

Strange case of the disappearing audible book

2016-12-19 Thread Mary Otten
A few days ago, I can't exactly remember when but it was recently, I purchased
a book that was an audible deal of the day. The title of the book is the memory
illusion. If I go to the Audible website and search for this book on my iPhone,
I am told that I have already purchased it which is true.if, however, I go into
the audible app on my iPhone and open it to set in the cloud, and refresh, I am
not seeing that book, neither am I seeing one of the great courses that I got
recently. If I try to search, I get the message that I have no connection and
should try later. Except I do have a connection. I am seeing email, and I can
see the Audible website itself. I have hit the refresh button for my library,
it dims out for just a second and then comes back and I still have no new
books. I can't imagine why this app thinks I have no connection. I have an
android phone, and I have audible on that as well. It is acting even stupider
than Audible on the iPhone. I open that one and have it set for cloud, and I am
being told I have only 35 books in my library, which is hysterical. I have well
over 1000 books in my library, having been a member for about 15 or more years,
since the very beginning back when they had their own devices. Refreshing does
no good. I am not seeing a notice they're telling me I have no connection, but
it could be missing, somewhere maybe in the status line which isn't always read
on this device or whatever. The point is, both devices do you have connections.
I'm just wondering if there is something wacky with the Audible site. Is anyone
else experiencing strangeness with the Audible app in the last day or two?
Mary

Hi All,

I read the good news that Sieghard wrote about the latest version being able to
select and deselect apps on the device for installing, but I can’t seem to be
able to get a list.

When I go to apps in my library, I get an information message that my apps will
be listed in that particular area, but there are no apps there.

When I go to my device and select the apps page, I am able to see the list of
folders, however, when I shift+tab to the apps list, it seems to be empty.

Sieghard, what is your secret for making it compatible with Jaws?

Thanks.

RE: iphone & bluetooth keyboard?

I think you can get it anywhere electronics are sold; the description from
Amazon is:
Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard for iPad, iPhone, Android devices, and
Windows tablets

I think the word "foldable" is important.

Re: iAssociate

2016-12-19 Thread Jewel
Where did I say anything about "bang bang bang: yeah yeah yeah"? or was your
reply in reply to a
reply?
I have tried entering the title where it appears but that doesn't improve
matters in the slightest.
I did get the answer to my query re the title of the song that was comprised of
3 words, each having
4 letters. It was Free Your Mind, and as the association was mind, it sounds
as though it could be
correct, but that question is, now, buried somewhere in "Girl groups" which is
the name of the
level that I am playing. I will fill it in when I find it again, and will be
very surprised if I
don't get the charming little bell run telling me that my: or to give credit
where it, rightfully,
belongs: Mama Peach's answer is correct!

I can't make good sense out of your post about bang bang bang or yeah yeah
yeah. Try YouTube. Just
plugging what you think is the name of the band or the name of the song and a
bunch of listings will
come up for that particular song or that particular band. Otherwise if you have
an album title then
you could just go to Amazon or plug the album title in and it'll tell you the
name of the band. Hell
with Wikipedia and Google.

RE: iphone & bluetooth keyboard?

2016-12-19 Thread Chip Orange
Yes Billy, you can pair 3 devices at once with this keyboard, and switch
between them (and have all 3 devices active at the same time). That's the big
selling point of this keyboard, along with its "universal" nature (meaning it
adjusts to IOS, Android, and Windows devices with the press of a button), and
that it's full sized when unfolded, and about 5 by 7 inches when folded. I
think it holds a charge for up to 3 months.

Re: AirPods - first impressions

2016-12-19 Thread Larry Smith
I received my AirPods today. They were very easy and simple to pair. You just
open the AirPods case, and a dialog pops up on the iPhone with a connect
button. Double tap and you are connected. It will show the battery level of
both the right AirPods, left AirPod, and the case when the case is open.

RE: AirPods - first impressions

2016-12-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Anthony,

I guess it all depends on what you consider delay or what you expect. I have
the Voyager Edge as well and while they are not bad there still is a delay over
wired headsets. It is just the nature of bluetooth at this point, there simply
is no bluetooth headset or speaker which doesn't have at least a tiny bit of
lag. If you type something when using the Voyager Edge there is a small amount
of lag as you lift your finger and it writes the letter, for me it's enough to
be annoying. For just using the phone, swiping and tapping etc. it's not as
noticeable.

Regards,
Sieghard

Re: Accessible Bible App?

2016-12-19 Thread Wayne Merritt
I like the bible Gateway app for several reasons. It has multiple
translations of the Bible, such as N.I.V and The Message, among many
others. Many of the N.I.V passages I look up have the ability for you
to hear the Word, not dramatized but that's okay. Finally, though many
Bible apps have these features, I really like the way one can look up
a passage in Bible Gateway using picker controls for the book, chapter
and verse desired. When the selected passage comes up, headings divide
up the screen, so navigating through is very easy.

Rather than replying on list. Just start forwarding all these to the moderators.
Include an explanation of why you are forwarding them.
But, I also keep reminding myself the moderation is a volunteer position, so I
also exercise the delete option lots more these days.

Mario,

You simply need to stop now. We all have thoroughly heard your total
frustration with whatever is going on with your phone and computer. We all know
you are terribly unhappy. Members of this list have tried to help you, and you
are still whining!

I have moderated lists before, and your behavior would have gotten you booted
off my list.

You need to do something constructive like going to a sighted person who can
straighten out your system and get it running so you might take advantage of
the offerings. Even I must do that from time to time. It is just the way of
life for those of us who are blind, especially now that technology as advanced
as it has.

I am sorry to be so upset with you, but your continued griping, complaining and
whining have become an annoyance to all of us. You have more than made your
point. If you can add nothing constructive to our discussions here, please
change products and/or go elsewhere to spout such negativity. We are all
working hard to negotiate our way through this ever changing technology, and
you are not the only person having to work through issues. If you can't get
things working properly for yourself, admit it and go get the help you need and
stop these types of posts.

FINALLY, WHERE ARE OUR MODERATORS??? I shouldn't have to write something like
this to get this thread to stop. We have all tried to help this individual see
some reason, and he just won't stop, and he, in my not so humble opinion is
disrupting the learning and sharing that have always gone on here. Where ever
you are, MODERATORS, please do your job before a perfectly good list is ruined.

I am disgusted.

RE: bluetooth earbud recommendations?

2016-12-19 Thread SSEric
Sorry for the delay.

Their only noise cancellation is passive. there is a flap of silicone from
the tip of the bud back that is meant to seal the ear canal. It does not
totally block sound. I have meant to try trimming that to hear even more
outside sound. That is my preference

I don't believe there is much if any sound bleed. But, I have not been close
to anyone using them to be certain.

Yes you can use one at a time. Just leave the other hanging around your
neck. They do have the mic and controls on the right cable.

Hi,

How sound proof are these? Do they have a noise canceling quality? Can
nearby people hear sound bleeding out from them? Can you use one at a time,
if you wish?

Thanks. Keith

I again recommend the Bose SoundSport bluetooth earbuds. They are quite
small and light and stay in your ears very well. $149.

a different perspective

2016-12-19 Thread Donald L. Roberts
The below message is being sent not to inflame the operating system wars
but rather to share the observations of a satisfied Android user. I for
one am a happy user of an iPhone 6 running IOS 10.2. So here are the
opinions of a happy Android user specifically of a Samsung Galaxy S6,
namely Dane Trethowan from the PC Audio list.

Firstly I’d like to wish everyone on list a Very Merry Christmas and may
you all have a Happy new year in 2017 I find myself in a somewhat
reflective mood around about this time of year when it comes to Android.
It was a year ago on 24 December - Yep Christmas Eve - when I received
my Samsung Galaxy S6 which I’m still using and a year before that - 1
December 2014 - I received the lovely Samsung Note4 which is still in
use today. The Galaxy S6 has opened doors to me I could never have
imagined and taken my using of a mobile phone in a somewhat different
direction than I had anticipated and I’d like to share my thoughts on
this topic, perhaps other people may have comments or views they could
contribute. The Galaxy S6 - as with other Android phones - is exactly
that, a great phone for making and receiving calls whether you’re using
some sort of voice recognition/dictation to initiate/answer the call,
whether its by physical button presses or swiping the screen/placement
of the phone. Given that the whole idea of a phone is to do just that -
make and receive calls - The Galaxy S6 is certainly up to the job and
sounds excellent with HD voice whether you’re using its own internal
earpiece, hands free speakerphone, headset or another quality Bluetooth
hands free device, I’ve tried them all and have been suitably impressed.
I’m now finding that the S6 has turned into a primary media player for
me and I put this down to a number of factors. First is the Lossless
APTX Bluetooth transfer that the S6 and other Android phones now use,
this can make your music come alive on a good portable Bluetooth Speaker
or a home stereo setup equipped with APTX Bluetooth. Added to that is
the ability to stream files of your choice, you want to play FLAC files?
Then go right ahead, install your favourite player such as VLC, pair
your APTX Bluetooth device and sit back to enjoy the music. I’ve also
used the Galaxy S6 with an external DAC - Digital To Analogue Converter
- in the form of the Oppo portable pocket DAC, you haven’t heard your
music until you’ve heard it through a good DAC and the DAC in the S6
thankfully isn’t too far behind the Oppo, even supports HD Audio. The
Samsung Galaxy S6 goes with me everywhere and is constantly in use,
whether it be giving directions thanks to Google Maps or just sitting in
my trouser pocket in case of an emergency, I have the SOS function set
up here which can send information to four nominated parties in the form
of SMS, these SMS messages include such information as a 5 second audio
recording, shots taken from the camera at the time of the SOS alert, map
locations etc. I have the Galaxy S6 set to alert me by vibration when my
doorbell rings, the S6 can recognise the sound of the bell, you record a
sample of the sound for the S6 to recognise. Amongst the everyday Apps I
use is the very nice Aqua Mail eMail client which has one of the best
layouts I’ve ever seen in a eMail client whether that be Desktop or
mobile. I have a Twitter feed and thus use Tweetings though I have to
admit to not using Tweetings to its full potential. Tunein Radio Pro is
a buzz and even more so now that I have the voice command structure for
it down to a T using “Okay Google”. But probably most important of all
is just how well my S6 interacts with my hearing instruments when I’m
out and about, when a call comes in I just press the home button on the
S6, the call is answered and the sound immediately transmitted right to
my hearing instruments so I may hear clearly. Further more - if I’m out
at a coffee shop where there’s a lot of noise - I can make things easier
for myself by placing the S6 on a table between myself and the party or
party’s I’m talking to. The s6 runs an App for my hearing instruments -
actually the App controls most of the processing for the instruments but
that’s another topic for another day - but the point here being is that
the App adjust the microphone of the s6 allowing me to hear the local
conversation more clearly than the hearing instruments would on their
own. Happy Android usage to you all.

Re: AirPods - first impressions

2016-12-19 Thread Richard Turner

I do not hardly notice any delay with my $35 single ear Plantronics M55.
I also have a pair of over the ear stereo bluetooth headphones that I think
cost me $25. There isn't any noticeable delay with them either. For the money,
I will stick with the cheap ones.
You'd think Apple could do something about the delay.

Dear listers

I got my AirPods today and have been playing with them for a couple of hours
now. The first thing to say is that there is some delay or lag which is
borderline acceptable. It's just a fraction of a second but you can definitely
notice it. I think I'll get used to it but may have to stick to wired earbuds
for my Mac as that's what I'm on for 90% of the day.

Also I was hoping that there would be some sort of magic whereby whichever
device was active (i.e. being used) the AirPods would automagically switch to
but this doesn't seem to be the case unless I'm missing something. I'm running
iOS 10 and Sierra latest versions on both and the pairing with both was magic -
but no automatic swapping between both. For whichever device I use I need to
manually switch the source away from one and to the other.

Apart from that I'm loving them and feeling very futuristic.

Thanks, Robin

Hi Robin,

How do these fit? The EarPods didn’t stay in my ears. Are the AirPods shaped
at all differently? Are they hard or padded?

Thank you.

Dear listers

I got my AirPods today and have been playing with them for a couple of hours
now. The first thing to say is that there is some delay or lag which is
borderline acceptable. It’s just a fraction of a second but you can definitely
notice it. I think I’ll get used to it but may have to stick to wired earbuds
for my Mac as that’s what I’m on for 90% of the day.

Also I was hoping that there would be some sort of magic whereby whichever
device was active (i.e. being used) the AirPods would automagically switch to
but this doesn’t seem to be the case unless I’m missing something. I’m running
iOS 10 and Sierra latest versions on both and the pairing with both was magic –
but no automatic swapping between both. For whichever device I use I need to
manually switch the source away from one and to the other.

Apart from that I’m loving them and feeling very futuristic.

Thanks, Robin

Re: Auto suggestions for email addresses

2016-12-19 Thread Deidre Muccio
Maybe what you meant that is that it will delete that person's address from the
to field. No I want to delete it altogether from the list of names that comes
up! No it won't remove that address. I did somehow managed to get to something
where I was able to tell her to ignore that person in recents. Whatever that
means.

AirPods - first impressions

2016-12-19 Thread Robin Christopherson

Hello there;

Subject: Getting rid of the addresses that come up automatically

Hey all,
When I go to select a name for someone I want to send a text message or a email
to all the other address is come up that might be missed spellings of that same
person's name. These are not people in my contacts. Is there a way to delete
them with some sort of finger touch? I played around with it and there doesn't
seem to be any option to delete any of those contact names that get put forward
automatically. Is this a done deal? No way to get rid of those addresses so
that I do not have to sort through them continually each time I want to send an
email. Some of these people are in fact in my contacts but in order to send an
email or text then I would have to open up Contacts which I normally don't do.
I usually send mail for mail and messages from Messages.
I fear there is no option to get rid of all the stuff but if there is I'd
appreciate someone filling me in? Thanks in advance.

I usually send mail for mail and messages from Messages.
I fear there is no option to get rid of all the stuff but if there is I'd
appreciate someone filling me in? Thanks in advance.

Getting rid of the addresses that come up automatically

2016-12-19 Thread Deidre Muccio
Hey all,
When I go to select a name for someone I want to send a text message or a email
to all the other address is come up that might be missed spellings of that same
person's name.

Re: Accessible Bible App?

2016-12-19 Thread Michael Feir
I have very much enjoyed the Word of Promise app. You can get a fully audio
dramatized version of the New King James bible which is over 90 hours long. The
app is fully accessible. I can read the text version of the bible with
Voiceover without any difficulty. You can get various text versions of the
bible with some being free and some costing money. They've done a great job
making the app accessible including all the extra resourcs like plans and
videos.

Re: iAssociate

2016-12-19 Thread Deidre Muccio
I can't make good sense out of your post about bang bang bang or yeah yeah
yeah. Try YouTube. Just plugging what you think is the name of the band or the
name of the song and a bunch of listings will come up for that particular song
or that particular band. Otherwise if you have an album title then you could
just go to Amazon or plug the album title in and it'll tell you the name of the
band. Hell with Wikipedia and Google.
