Hi,
I do not have the app, but if you go to the link below you can watch videos on
the various features.
They are not designed for blind viewers, but they should give you a better idea

RE: Emergency contacts

2017-05-02 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi,

If you go to the Health app, tap on Medical Id at the bottom right you can set
up all sorts of important information including any medical conditions,
medications, alergies, your height, weight, whether you are an organ doner and
who your emergency contacts are. You can also specify at the top if this
information should be available on the lock screen.

Regards,

Re: Does anyone know what the most accessible app is for using Facebook with VO?

2017-05-02 Thread Elizabeth Ulrich

I find that the native IOS facebook app is very accessible with VO. Setting up
a facebook account is easy, but my big tip for you is to pay attention to how
your security and privacy settings are sorted out. Keep everything you do on
facebook shared with friends only.

Did you read the description? You can only send to people who also have the app.
The reviews are 80 percent 1 star.
Mostly because of the restriction that others have to have the app. But here is
just one of the reviews:

Unusable on iphone, Apr 16, one star, by sergeythegreat, It isn't even usable
on the iphone. Keeps forcing me to login again and again without any prompt.
Very disappointing to see this after having subscribed to their Premium service!

Yes but if the phone is locked and there is a password or finger print required
to unlock the phone they won't be able to get to your contacts on the phone.

I know several emergency medical technicians in a couple of different states.
Note that I live in the United States. They have all told me that if you put a
contact under capital I CE in your contacts list, this will be one of the first
places that emergency personnel look. I CE stands for in case of emergency. I
decided to do both the Health app and the I CE contact.

The Drafts app: to buy or not to buy?

2017-05-02 Thread Gerardo Corripio

I'm kind of a bit undecided on the Drafts app found at
https://itunes.apple.com/mx/app/drafts-quickly-capture-notes-share-anywhere/id905337691?mt=8
I'm wanting to buy it since it's attracting the prospect of not having
to open up Twitter (remember I'm using an iPhone 5S so no 3D-touch
technology on it) just to tweet, not to have to open up Notes, see on
which folder I'm wanting to create a note, and then creating a new note,
and all the efficient ways I might be able to create drafts or other
materials! However it's $100 Mexican, and $100 is $100, (which for you
guys in the States it's about $5), thus I'm kind of undecided, and would
like to ask you if you have it, in what ways do you use it, and has the
purchase of this app been worthwhile the money?

RE: Feedback on IOS applications

2017-05-02 Thread Chip Orange
Blind Abilities is very helpful for giving you easy access to blindness
podcasts, they've started a nice series for IOS beginners as well.

AI Polyvision is interesting and fun to play with, but it drains your battery
enormously quickly, and yet never has provided me with what I'd call useful
info.

I think for the money, the $10 barcode reader app named Digit-Eyes is very
helpful, and the Identify app for color/clothing description is also good.

Hth,

Chip

Never-mind what I said about it being a graphic you cannot read, just tap the
"emergency" button, then the "medical ID" button, and you'll be able to verify
all the info you entered.

emergency contacts as "wall paper" on your lock screen, so they are always
visible without anyone needing to unlock your phone.

You *must* create new contacts with a first or last name of ICE Then the articles tell you to put the
person's full name in the company field, along with a relationship description.

This creates a graphic, so you yourself won't be able to verify the info is
being displayed. And as someone said, this is part of the Health app, so I
think the article's instructions I followed may have required you to do
something in the Health app after you create these contacts.

Re: can one mute apple watch speech but keep doubletap time on

2017-05-02 Thread Ed Worrell
Hello All,

If you do a single finger double tap on the screen when it is asleep you will
activate the taptic time option. This will give you the entire time. If you
simply want to know the minutes, triple tap with one finger whilst the Apple
watch is asleep. If you are worried about notifications on your wrist you can
either mute sounds, or use Do Not Disturb. Both of these toggles can be found
in the Control center. To find the control center either do a one finger swipe
down whilst on the watch face, do this until you hear control center, or you
alternatively can do a two finger swipe up to activate it that way as well.

Re: can one mute apple watch speech but keep doubletap time on

2017-05-02 Thread Joney
Hi all:
I haven't tried it yet, my watch is charging. :-) However, I have been told,
you can turn voiceover off on your Watch, and the tapping still occurs on the
wrist. A friend of mine says he does this all the time. You might give it a
shot. That way you don't have to mess with the volume for voiceover on your
phone all the time for the watch. Just an idea. :-)

No, you cannot play iBooks invoice dream unless they don't have DRM, which the
great majority of iBooks do have. If you have got one that doesn't have DRM,
I'm not sure how you would get it out of iBooks. But chances are, what you have
is not playable invoice dream.

You can use it anywhere debit cards are excepted, so the answer would be yes.

There are a few unlabeled buttons, but if you tap them they are self

helps you save money if you want, and gives you 20 percent more at the end of
the week in your savings. You can have your social security or payroll check
direct deposited, and the best part about that, is you get it a couple days
early. For example, my sister receives SSI, and her deposit normally doesn’t
go threw until the 1st of each month, well she received her check last Tuesday,
witch was the 25th of april. You get a debit car, and a checking account with
routing number. Bill pay is 100 percent accessible, and you can even send
money to friends. I have been using this app since the beginning of the year,
and I have no complaints! I have moved everything from my wells fargo and
regions account to this one and closed both of them. That’s how much I like
this app. If you use the below link to sign up, you will receive 5 bucks free

Other than taking it away the only way you can limit is if you have

2017-05-02 Thread Robert Doc Wright
Here is part of your answer. I will look further for restricting for a
period of time.
hen you have Restrictions on, you might not see certain apps, features, or
services. If you're missing an app or feature, or can't use a certain
service, try turning Restrictions off. If you have any of these issues, try
turning off Restrictions:

a.. You don't see an app on the Home screen (like Safari, Camera, or
FaceTime).
b.. You can't use a certain feature or service (like Siri or Location
Services).
c.. You see that a setting is missing or dimmed (like Mail, iCloud,
Twitter, and FaceTime).
If you lose or forget your Restrictions passcode, you need to erase your
device, then set it up as a new device to remove the Restrictions passcode.

Learn more
a.. You can also use Restrictions on your Mac or PC and Apple TV.
b.. Learn how to prevent In-App Purchases or change the credit card that
you use in the iTunes Store.

new accessible bank, app is great too!

2017-05-02 Thread Kliphton Miller
Well, I found this by pure accident. I was looking for a conferencing app, and
this banking app popped up. It’s called “chime bank” without the quotes.
There are a few unlabeled buttons, but if you tap them they are self
explainatory. There is bill pay, a checking and a saving account, it even
helps you save money if you want, and gives you 20 percent more at the end of
the week in your savings.
That’s how much I like
this app. If you use the below link to sign up, you will receive 5 bucks free
into your account within the 1st 30 days.

I think that you misunderstood...If you put your contact & other health info

from the lock screen, but only if your phone has a pass code. The emergency

Kindle Question

2017-05-02 Thread Vicki
Good Afternoon,

Is there a way to get the Kindle books to display page numbers rather than
sections or percentages or is that strictly book dependent? Some of my books
allow me search by page, others by section.

Thanks.

Thanks for the prompt revert.
Well had got Be my eyes installed on my iphone about 3 months back,

can one mute apple watch speech but keep doubletap time on

2017-05-02 Thread Fanus
Hello list
I have to go for an operation which will keep me in hospital for about 7 days.
I want to keep my applewatch on my arm during the nights but I do not want to
annoy other patients, so I was wondering if it is possible to mute voiceOver
but still being able to do a doubletap to get the time with vibrations?
Regards
Fanus

You can open the Health app, then go to the bottom and hit the Medical ID tab.
In this section you can add all sorts of your medical info; including emergency
contacts. First though you must hit the edit button, in order to add info.
Once you're done with this: If you keep your IPhone in the unlocked mode, an
emergency worker just has to unlock the phone like normal, then open your
health app.
But if you've got your phone in password protected mode; all the emergency
worker has to do is hit the emergency button underneath the password entry
field and it will takem directly to your Health app's Medical ID portion.
It's pretty cool and I feel much better with all this stuff set up properly.
I swear, the older you get, the less you bounce and the more you break!
But then again, death is the only true side effect of life!

Hello does anyone know if it is possible to add emergency contacts to the
phone in the event that something happens and a stranger needs to contact
someone on your behalf. I have seen some apps where this is possible but
they are really for the side it individuals.
Thank you

worker has to do is hit the emergency button underneath the password entry
field and it will takem directly to your Health app's Medical ID portion.

Thank you

Other than taking it away the only way you can limit is if you have control of
your router's web interface. You could get the mac address of the iDevice and
restrict the number of hours being used by that device.

RE: Feedback on IOS applications

2017-05-02 Thread Mike Ulrich
I'll tell you one thing; Be My Eyes rocks much better than Bespecular. I have
both and BME is much faster and if you've taken a bad picture; the BME
volunteer will just tell you in real time to turn the can or whatever so they
can get a better look at it.
With Bespecular you have to take another picture and submit it all over again.
See what I'm saying?
Hope this helps.

Re: Emergency contacts

2017-05-02 Thread Donna
You can add emergency contacts & other important health info into the health
app. The only drawback is that unless you have a pass code or use fingerprint
to unlock your phone emergency personel will have to know about the app & will
have to search your phone for the emergency info. With a pass code the
emergency info is accessible on the lock screen.

Another suggestion is to enter the word ICE in all capital letters followering
your emergency contacts within the phone app.
