Re: app To Test, Useless On My Phone

2020-01-21 Thread Richard Turner
It worked for me.
The issue was on the first screen, there is a close button that I only found by
one finger flicks.
After double tapping on that, everything, including the tabs at the bottom are
accessible.

RE: help with apple watch issue

2020-01-21 Thread Deb Cook Lewis
Yes, Apple has a formula for determining with each exercise what constitutes a
required heartrate and movement ratio. If you want every minute to count
regardless of what you are doing, select Other as the workout type. In the
regular categories they provide, only my elliptical gets me a minute per minute
of activity. All others are less depending on how strenuous, but Other is
documented to give you a minute for every minute regardless.

But if you do a 2 hour walk with an HR up around 100 bpm

That to me is a good stress free workout with a higher than normal HR meaning
your exercise rate is higher.

It could simply be the case that not every minute of your walk counts as 1
minute of “exercise”

You may want to call Apple Accessibility or do some Google searches to see if
that is the case, but in a similar way, if I ride my spin bike for 20 minutes
this counts as exercise, but it does not count towards my “Move” goal or at
least not entirely. I assume in order for an activity to be considered exercise
maybe a certain heart rate needs to be achieved? .

Morning all,

I have a question re workouts on an apple watch Series 4,

I use my apple watch workout daily,

The main work out is the outdoor walk

What I’m finding is that what I see in the activity report which is kilojoules
 (movement), exercise (minutes moving),

And standing,

I’ve noticed over the passed few months that the exercise or movement time
recording doesn’t meet with what the outdoor walk in this case workout report.

Tonight I walked for 35 minutes on the workout,

After walking 25 minutes to work this morning and again on my walk home so
approx. 1.5 hours of walking,

Yet my exercise activity app on the watch records only 16 minutes,

I want to know if anyone else has noticed such a thing and if so what they did?

Note this is an apple watch sport series 4,

Running Watch OS 6.1.1

And sincs to my iphone 11 pro max running the latest Ios version.

Not that it should matter but all are space grey.

Cheers for any information people might be able to assist with.

Cheers,

Simon F

Re: recursive appointments

2020-01-21 Thread Michael Feir
For the kind of repeating appointments you're wanting to create, I would
strongly recommend an app called Fantastical2. It has a natural language
parser which has understood every kind of appointment situation I've thrown
at it so far. It puts any created appointments in your iCloud calendar and
reminders. It's also great since it combines calendar and reminder so you
can keep track of everything in context. I've never regretted my purchase
of that app. The developer is eager for feedback and goes out of his way to
be helpful.

recursive appointments

2020-01-21 Thread William Windels
Hello all,

I would like to make recursive appointments in my icloud calendar.

It seems there are some (normal) limitations:

I would like to make something like:

a appointment that:
repeats every 2 years in the months january, september and december
and in that months every 2 weeks on days monday friday and sathurday.

so, for each unit: year, month, week and day, I would like to say between how
many units or on which units the event should happen.

I don’t know if this is possible or not and if so, which
program/calendar:google, icloud, microsoft… I need for this.

Thx for any suggestion

RE: Anyone else having volume issues with Amazon Music app?

2020-01-21 Thread Alan Lemly
Terri,

I'm hesitant to uninstall the Amazon Music app to correct the reduced speaker
volume issue because I've downloaded many songs to my iPhone and have created a
playlist that I'm afraid I'll lose if I uninstall/reinstall.

I am not having any problems with Amazon Music on my iPhone 11 Pro. I have had
this phone for one month and just redownloaded the Amazon Music app, played
some songs, and all sounds great. Maybe those having the problem could try
uninstalling/deleting the app and redownloading/installing it again. It would
be nice if this solved the issue for everyone.

Not the same situation as yours, but I sometimes have volume problems when I
first activate amazon music on my iPhone. It usually fixes itself once a piece
is playing, and it doesn't happen as often as it use to, but it can be a

Subject: Anyone else having volume issues with Amazon Music app?

Hi List,

I noticed a couple of Amazon Music app version updates back that the volume
coming out of my iPhone 8 speakers was significantly reduced whenever launching
Amazon Music. The volume is reduced almost to the point where my iPhone is
unusable and is across the board until I force close Amazon Music using the App
Switcher. Turning the volume up doesn't correct the problem. When I plug in my
wired earpods, the volume coming through them is fine in Amazon Music but
reverts to being too low when I unplug the earpods. Is anyone else experiencing
this issue? I plan to write Amazon about this but wanted to first see if others
are also experiencing this.

Thanks in advance.

RE: How do I turn off language detection in iOS 13.3?

2020-01-21 Thread Alan Lemly
Many thanks. I turned off Detect Languages at that location but unfortunately
it didn't correct my issue. I'm still getting the foreign language speaking in
my document headings so I suspect this is another one of those iOS 13.x bugs

Hi List,

I've got a document in both docx and html formats that I'm attempting to read
using the Dropbox app. I'm not sure what is causing this since the document is
entirely in English but certain of the headings are being read with another
language accent or maybe in another language entirely. I suspect it has
something to do with the document formatting but I figure if I turn off a
setting to detect foreign language, it should correct the problem. I had to do
something similarly with JAWS so it would read this document correctly on my
computer.

I know there are several multi-lingual users on this list who have posted about
issues with reading multiple languages on your iDevices so I'm hoping one of
you can direct me to the proper setting. All my stuff is in English so I don't
need any language detection.

Thanks in advance.

Since JPEG is a common image file, I would send the pictures to a friend who
could look at them and make any needed suggestions. I wouldn't worry about
converting them to PDF until they're the way you want them.

He designed it to do the image overlay with the accessible text so visually it

Yes.

Scan one page, tap on keep, assuming it was a good scan.

Scan page 2, and hit keep.

Then choose save as PDF and you will have the choice of where to save it, or to
send it.

Re: Scanning As *PDF File In Voice Dream Scanner?

2020-01-21 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi,

The built-in Notes app can scan a document. I think it can save the scan as PDF.

Best,
Anna

Re: iOS 13 Voiceover Questions

2020-01-21 Thread Richard Turner
We are stuck with the dictation and scroll bars unless Apple gets enough
feedback to change that.
As for the extra chatter; I would first turn off the preview in the
notification settings and see if that helps.
But, also, write to accessibil...@apple.com to let them know how annoying this
is.

Is there a way to eliminate the Dictation button and scroll bar from

does not actually seem to jump backward through long message threads.

Thanks for any guidance!

iOS 13 Voiceover Questions

Is there a way to eliminate the Dictation button and scroll bar from

does not actually seem to jump backward through long message threads.

Thanks for any guidance!

How do I turn off language detection in iOS 13.3?

2020-01-21 Thread Alan Lemly
Hi List,

I've got a document in both docx and html formats that I'm attempting to
read using the Dropbox app. I'm not sure what is causing this since the
document is entirely in English but certain of the headings are being read
with another language accent or maybe in another language entirely. I
suspect it has something to do with the document formatting but I figure if
I turn off a setting to detect foreign language, it should correct the
problem. I had to do something similarly with JAWS so it would read this
document correctly on my computer.

I know there are several multi-lingual users on this list who have posted
about issues with reading multiple languages on your iDevices so I'm hoping
one of you can direct me to the proper setting. All my stuff is in English
so I don't need any language detection.

Thanks in advance.

Touch where it says Photo, and flick down with one finger and it should say
video.
Then when you take a picture, it will start the video.
Find the stop button to stop filming.

You can also tell SIRI "Take a video", this will open the Camera app and video
mode will already be selected, all you have to do is tap on "Record Video" near
the bottom in the middle or press the volume up button to start recording,
press it again to stop.

RE: Scanning As *PDF File In Voice Dream Scanner?

2020-01-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Not sure if that would be the right option then to scan a passport for a Visa
application. I know for some applications I have done they even want just a
black and white image, but that would be something Fazil would have to know
based on the instructions to come with the application. I would probably use
something like Office Lense or I think the google app includes an option also
to scan images, there are a ton of apps in the app store designed to scan
receipts and produce a PDF image. You could even just use the regular camera
and then use an online converter to convert the JPG image into a PDF.

Best regards,
Sieghard

It produces a PDF with the image and accessible text.
He designed it to do the image overlay with the accessible text so visually it
shows the print document with the format and the text is accessible to screen
readers, however if there are columns, the accessible text isn’t guaranteed to
read correctly.

Yes.
Scan one page, tap on keep, assuming it was a good scan.
Scan page 2, and hit keep.
Then choose save as PDF and you will have the choice of where to save it, or to
send it.

changed to a female US voice. however, i saw that Daniel is still selected and
the region is Uk English, so how can I get Daniel to talk? Other times I
upgraded the voice remained the same, so why did it change this time?

You can also tell SIRI "Take a video", this will open the Camera app and video
mode will already be selected, all you have to do is tap on "Record Video" near
the bottom in the middle or press the volume up button to start recording,
press it again to stop.

video. I know it can be done, but haven't the slightest idea how to do it.
Thanks for any help.

changing voice over voice

2020-01-21 Thread 'Husna Begum' via VIPhone
Hi,

I finally upgraded to iOS 13.3 and the voice which was set to Daniel Uk English
changed to a female US voice. however, i saw that Daniel is still selected and
the region is Uk English, so how can I get Daniel to talk? Other times I
upgraded the voice remained the same, so why did it change this time?

Thanks, Husna
