For the Calendar, try a command like: Hey Siri create an appointment titled Dr.
Pain at 3 PM on September 8th.
Or, Hey Siri, create an 2 hour appointment titled Spa treatment on August 20th
at 2 PM.
Or, Hey Siri, remind me at 5 PM to start dinner.

I have tried using siri to put things on the calendar. It never works for me.
Can someone tell me the sequence to give siri the contents of the event please?
How do I set the two reminders with Siri?

subscription info for the list with a friend and it occurred to me

Re: Custom commands

2020-08-13 Thread Traci Duncan
Hi Richard, I have created a few custom braille commands which is a great
feature. However, the switch to previous and next apps aren’t in the list, or I
should say I haven’t found them. ;)

For a second I thought it was move to the app on the left or right, but the
switch apps seems to be a different command.

RE: Creating Events Quickly in iOS Calendar

2020-08-13 Thread therealsandyfinley
Reggie, I just made an appointment for myself like this:
Me:
"Make an appointment for September 27 called Dinner with Carol."
SIRI: "What time?"
Me: "5 pm."\\
SIRI: "what is the location?"
Me: "My house."

"Carol Baker or Carol Davis?"

I did not deliberately leave the time out; I just forgot and I wanted to show
you that SIRI will ask. And at the time I forgot that there are two Carols in
my address book.
|

I get a notifications about all of my appointments; those are, I think,
different from using the reminder app, which I never do.

How do I set the two reminders with Siri?

Re: Creating Events Quickly in iOS Calendar

2020-08-13 Thread Kimber Gardner
Regarding FantastiCal. I've seen the option to subscribe and balked at
the repeating cost. But I've been using it without the subscription
and it suits my needs. What are the benefits to subscribing? It just
seems unnecessary to have a subscription to use my calendar. Am I
missing something?

RE: Custom commands

2020-08-13 Thread Richard Turner
You can indeed create custom braille commands,
Open the VoiceOver braille settings, and select More info on your braille
device that is paired. You will have two options. Braille Commands and Forget
device.

Guess which one you want, (grin.)
They are subcategories in there and the commands you want I believe are there
and either will already have braille keys assigned or you can choose to assign
new braille keys.
I use Space+dot 7 and s to invoke Siri.

There may be one already defined, but that combination suits me.

Subject: Custom commands

Hi all, I was playing around with commands in iOs. The main command I was
looking at was switch to previous and next app. Four finger swipe right or
left. Unless, you are the lucky ones that still have 3d touch and can press and
hold the left side of the screen to bring up app switcher. :) I miss that
ability. Anyway…

It looks like we could assign a custom command to a qwerty keyboard, but not to
a braille display. Anyone know why? Or hopefully I’m mistaken.

The other command I was searching for and found on Apple support was toggle
announcement history. Space bar plus N, dots 1,3,4,5.

Tech curious,
Traci

RE: Creating Events Quickly in iOS Calendar

2020-08-13 Thread Richard Turner
For the Calendar, try a command like: Hey Siri create an appointment titled Dr.
Pain at 3 PM on September 8th.
Or, Hey Siri, create an 2 hour appointment titled Spa treatment on August 20th
at 2 PM.
Or, Hey Siri, remind me at 5 PM to start dinner.

Can someone tell me the sequence to give siri the contents of the event please?
How do I set the two reminders with Siri?

2020-08-13 Thread Richard Turner
You can find the setting under Accessibility, Siri.
It is the first item.
If you turn it on, when you press the home button, you can type to Siri rather
than speak.
Hey Siri still works normally, but holding the home button will only accept
typed commands/questions.

Custom commands

2020-08-13 Thread Traci Duncan

Tech curious,
Traci

hi,
What is type with Siri? This is the first I have heard of it. Sounds like it
might be useful. How would I implement it?
Thanks in advance, Keith

Re: Creating Events Quickly in iOS Calendar

2020-08-13 Thread regina alvarado
I have tried using siri to put things on the calendar. It never works for me.
Can someone tell me the sequence to give siri the contents of the event please?
How do I set the two reminders with Siri?

Hi.

I have iPhone8 with iOS13.something, I mean the latest one.

Can I start Google Assistant with a gesture? If yes, how can that be done,
please?

Thanks!

Using type with Siri and keeping hey Siri on makes for a great
combination; you can very easily create complex events without Siri
misunderstanding what you are saying. This--as far as I can
tell--replicates FantastiCal without the price. Thanks to those who
figured out this solution.

reading a comment made on Facebook post

2020-08-13 Thread R Van Lant
Hi,
I'm not a frequent poster in Facebook, so I don't know when this changed. I'm
on the latest version of the FB app. I've posted a couple stories lately and
people have commented, but I cannot seem to find the comment. In one case FB
sent me an email letting me know someone commented, but clicking the link to
the comment didn't seem to work. In another case, I was flicking through my
news feed and FB said my cousin had commented on a post, but I couldn't find
her comment. Anyone else have this trouble and/or have advice?

RE: Robot vacuums and the iPhone

2020-08-13 Thread Tom Rash
Is there a particular model of the Roomba to look for?

Hi, Lelia,

I have the Roomba and really like it. (Note the spelling because it's not
spelled the way the dance is spelled(! It hooks up to WiFi on your phone and I
find the app to be accessible. It even goes under furniture and if an area is
particularly too dirty, it will go over it twice. I have a little bird and
when it goes under his cage, which is on a stand, I often wonder what he thinks
of it! Haha! Anyway, good luck with your vacuum search!

RE: Robot vacuums and the iPhone

2020-08-13 Thread Peter Logan
I have the 980 and got it 3 years ago or so .. and at that time I set it up
without assistance...it was all accessible ..

The app has improved over the years .. and is very accessible.

Now how can I get something to automatically clean my bathroom?

How accessible was the process for actually getting it connected? I don't
imagine you could do the wifi setup independently on that thing?

Blind-Shell classic might have been the mobile, like Nokia in style with real

useful, but it talks anyway.

Hi, a friend just asked me for suggestions for a large type phone for her
Mother who is loosing her vision. She would like a mobile and a landline
phone. Can someone suggest something with good quality? I have seen some
posts in the past but, can't remember what the discussions were. Thanks so
much. Andy and Shubert
