Re: Echo Dot Third Generation

2020-08-20 Thread Holly
Fazil: I thought you were trying to download the app on your computer, not your
phone.

I don’t remember that there was a capsha when you download the Alexa app from
the app store.

Are you sure you have the right app?

RE: Echo Dot Third Generation

2020-08-20 Thread Fazil
VoiceOver said there is an audio challenge but I could not find it.

How can I show it to BE My Eyes?

I think if I remove focus away from BME, the volunteer won’t see my showing,
isn’t it?

Thanks!

Do you have the AIRA app, or Be My Eyes app that you could call to tell you the
Capsha? Or maybe there is an audio challenge.

Echo Dot Third Generation

2020-08-20 Thread Fazil
Hi, list.

I am sorry if my question is out of topic.

I have iPhone8.

Somebody gave me Echo Dot Third Generation, can I use it with my iPhone8?

If yes, how should I configure it?

Do I have to download any app from somewhere in order to use Echo??

Thanks!

Re: iPhone set gestures?

So is there a third swipe up? I understand about the two swipes up. How do you
turn voiceover on those type phones or turn speech on should you accidentally
turn it off?

Re: Personal Power, the iOS edition, by Michael Feir, audio Daisy version, completed.

2020-08-20 Thread Fred Olver
Mary Jo, if you finish reading the message he sent, there are three links
for different versions of the book.

I have completed the audio version of the book. Personal Power, the iOS
edition, by Michael Feir. In this edition there are over 850 navigation
points, and 25 hours and 50 minutes of listening to great information
about how to do hundreds of things with your iOS device.
Included are 3 versions.
(1) for your NLS player, either the unit from NLS or the app for the IOS
and Victor Stream. The NLS player will announce the level types, 1,
section, 2, subsection, 3, steps and 4, activity. The Stream will just
announce level 1 through 4.

2. a Daisy *.mp3 version link for all other players such as the Dolphin

Subject: Braille screen input bug in iOS 14 bet

Hi everyone,
I don’t know if anyone else is running the beta for iOS 14, but I installed it
last night and have discovered some bugs in the Braille screen input. Wanted to
see if anyone else had these same problems. First off, even though I have VO
set to speak both characters and words, it only speaks characters. Secondly, it
has stopped announcing spaces, making you question whether or not you entered
it correctly. Finally, when you try to delete the previous word, nothing is
spoken at all.
I have reported these bugs in the feedback app, but thought it would be worth
writing here to see if anyone else is running the beta and can confirm. If so,
please also submit feedback to Apple via the feedback app, so this gets fixed
in the next beta.
Thanks for your help.

RE: iPhone set gestures?

2020-08-20 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Shirley,

With the face id models of phone
You swipe 1 finger down from the top of the screen and get the first haptic
vibration which indicates control centre,
Still moving the finger down and you get a 2nd haptic vibration which
indicates the notification centre,

At this you let go of the finger on the screen and then simply navigate around
as you would on any other page or application,

Swiping right / left depending on where you wish to go.

There is no real fdifference in how you navigate around.

The home button has simply been replaced with gestures on the screen such as a
short swipe up from the bottom with one finger getting the first upward haptic
feedback is equal to the home button press,

Swiping up with one finger to the 2nd haptic vibration gives you the equal to
home button press twice for the app switcher,

It sounds crazy and does take time to get use to but it all works great once
you get it fixed in your head.

Carolyn, I have the 6S plus iPhone but might consider going to the XS. Once you
swipe with your finger to read notifications for example, then once you get to
those, then how do you actually read those? Also, how would you read your Email
and text messages without a home button? My phone has the home button.

Unless they have changed that in the passed year or so,

Hi all. A friend of mine is considering getting a fitbit. She wants to know if
it’s accessible and, if so, is there a better model or a specific app on the
Iphone that works better. She wants specifically to track her walking distance.
Thanks, as always, for sharing your experiences and expertise.

Yeah I got stuck with this a week or so ago and Petrus helped me out.

Touch the status bar at the top and then swipe three fingers up from the
bottom of your phone for the control centre,

And or three fingers down from the top of the phone screen to get the
notification centre

Good luck with that.

Could anyone remind me of the VoiceOver gestures to bring up Control Centre

XS that I’ve totally forgotten!

Personal Power, the iOS edition, by Michael Feir, audio Daisy version, completed.

2020-08-20 Thread Curtis Delzer
I have completed the audio version of the book. Personal Power, the iOS
edition, by Michael Feir. In this edition there are over 850 navigation
points, and 25 hours and 50 minutes of listening to great information
about how to do hundreds of things with your iOS device.

Included are 3 versions.
(1) for your NLS player, either the unit from NLS or the app for the IOS
and Victor Stream. The NLS player will announce the level types, 1,
section, 2, subsection, 3, steps and 4, activity. The Stream will just
announce level 1 through 4.

Re: fitbit question

2020-08-20 Thread Esther
Hi, Everyone,

i have the Charge 4 Fitbit and really like it. However, I was able to pair the
device with my phone, but when I wanted to finish the setup, it wanted me to
put in a 4-digit code that was on the device itself. I had to resort to
sighted assistance for that. Also, when a new update comes out, be it the
device or your phone, you need to have your Fitbit close to the phone in order
for it to receive the new update. I didn't realize this at first because on
the Charge 3 that I had before, I didn't need to do this phase. I'm not trying
to discourage anyone from getting one of these, but now, whenever there's an
update, even for my phone, I make sure I have the Fitbit plugged in near the
phone. Hope this helps.

Sorry for the incomplete Email! What I meant to say was the problem isn’t
Youtube lowering the phone’s volume; the problem is Youtube makes VoiceOver
come out of the earpiece! You have to either play something for it to resolve
itself, or turn VoiceOver off and on via Triple Click Home. Hope this helps.

Re: fitbit question

2020-08-20 Thread pegkane52
Hi,
When I was using a Fitbit that no longer is made, I was able to use the app
most of the time. But as far as I know from talking with friends, even though
the app is accessible, the watch or whatever device the person is wearing is
not accessible. The Apple Watch, is fully accessible, not sure about other
watches.

Re: fitbit question

2020-08-20 Thread Stacy Fuehrer
Hello Paul and everyone.
I have a Fitbit, and the Fitbit app itself is pretty accessible, particularly
if all the person wants to do is track walking steps and such.
Most fit bits are pretty easy to pair with the app…
That is about the extent of what I know on this topic.
Hoping others can chime in with more specifics

YouTube Hijacking VO Volume

2020-08-20 Thread dani pagador
Hi, Everyone.
This morning when I went to see what was new on YouTube, I was really
annoyed. The app decreased VO's volume down to 10%, and I couldn't
bring it up using the volume control buttons. It wanted to access the
mic for me to be able to search by voice; I hit "Don't allow", and
closed out the app. I reopened it with the same decrease in volume
drop happening.

I sent feedback to YouTube after hooking up my Braille display. Guess
I won't be watching anything there for the foreseeable future.

Has anyone else had this happen? It doesn't happen with any of the
other apps on my phone.

Thanks,
Dani

Are you sure VoiceOver is set to a foreign language? When you are setting up
a new phone, it goes through lots of languages, saying to press Home to
start setup. It's possible that all they need to do is press the Home

Re: Changing an iphone 7 from A T T to Verison

2020-08-20 Thread Gordon
As long as you don't have any outstanding obligations to At and your
phone meets their unlock requirements, getting it unlocked is simple and
quick. Most of the unlock policies are pretty straight forward. For
example: T-mobile requires that a phone be active on their network for
at least 60 days with no outstanding obligations to them on your bill
and the phone must be paid off if you purchased it from them under a
payment plan. At is probably very similar to this.

You probably need to give the IMEI number to Verizon to make sure it
can work on their platform.

You find that under Settings, General, About.

It is quite a ways down that screen.

After the network information, Carrier, then IMEI.

If it is locked to AT you will have to get AT to unlock it.

RE: Changing an iphone 7 from A T T to Verison

2020-08-20 Thread Richard Turner
You probably need to give the IMEI number to Verizon to make sure it can work
on their platform.
You find that under Settings, General, About.
It is quite a ways down that screen.
After the network information, Carrier, then IMEI.

If it is locked to AT you will have to get AT to unlock it.

RE: the time keeps being spoken whilst reading podcasts

2020-08-20 Thread chaltain
I don't have this problem using the native podcast app on my iPhone 11. As Rob
suggests, I'd try moving the focus away from the time or the progress slider to
see if this fixes the issue for you.

RE: iPhone set gestures?

2020-08-20 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Yeah I got stuck with this a week or so ago and Petrus helped me out.

Touch the status bar at the top and then swipe three fingers up from the
bottom of your phone for the control centre,

And or three fingers down from the top of the phone screen to get the
notification centre

Good luck with that.

Re: iPhone set gestures?

You don't have to go to the bottom of the screen. I just touch the
top of my phone where the speaker is for the status bar, then swipe up
with 3 fingers and there is the control center.
