Setting favorites using StarPlayrX presets was RE: Attention, Easier Way to Play SiriusXM

2020-11-15 Thread Alan Lemly
Hi List,

I think I might have figured out how to use the Presets button with the
StarPlayrX app to set SiriusXM favorites with StarPlayrX. The app doesn't seem
entirely consistent so I hope this works. First, find a channel you'd like to
mark as a favorite by double tapping it until it starts playing. Second, touch
in the upper right corner and place focus on the Preset off button and double
tap to turn Preset on. Now, when you're back on the Channels home screen,
Categories should be the heading in the top center of the screen just below the
status bar time and Popular will be the first listed heading. The first item
under the Popular item should be All Stars which will contain any channels you
marked with the Preset on button while it was playing. You can double tap on
All Stars to confirm your list of marked favorite channels. Sometimes All Stars
doesn't appear on the channels main screen which I've not quite figured out
why. Hopefully, this will help folks to get started marking their favorites
with this app and I welcome other comments anyone has after using it.

Hi Julie,

What I figured out was, if you go in to a category, and double tap on a
station, and it starts playing, you will see an option that says preset off, if
you double tap on the toggle, and make it say on, then I'm thinking it will
make some sort of favorite, but I can't access them.

RE: Earphones Like the Aftershock Type to Use in Bed?

2020-11-15 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I'm not aware of a bone conduction option that will let you do this, but
something like the Apple Airpods will work just fine when you're lying down.
The Airpods have minimal passive noise cancellation and the Airpod Pros have
transparency mode.

  Starplayrx streams the XM channels.
It is really accessible, and it puts everything in catagories.
I don't know if it has any favorits though, that is the only problem I
am having, but other than that, I love the app.

Earphones Like the Aftershock Type to Use in Bed?

2020-11-15 Thread dani pagador
Hi, Everyone.
My husband got Aftershock headphones and loaned them to me to try. I
really enjoy using them and wish there were something like that that
could be used while lying down. The band across the back of the
headset doesn't seem like it'd hold up very well if used when lying
down.
I need to not have my ears blocked to be able to hear stuff like if
the apartment alarm goes off, or if someone wants something from me
and is talking to me to try to get my attention.
What would work in these situations?

Thanks,
Dani

Yeha to pair the pods with your phone,

Like the instructions on the phone say during pairing,

You will need to press that button to assist in the pairing process.

Thanks Alan. I just received my apple airpod pro this morning, and as you folks
suggested, pairing them was a breeze. I noticed that there is a tiny little
button on the case, does anyone know what it is for?

I don't see this setting anywhere, and I don't think it is available on the

Re: Attention, Easier Way to Play SiriusXM

2020-11-15 Thread Chris Judd

Starplayrx streams the XM channels.
It is really accessible, and it puts everything in catagories.
I don't know if it has any favorits though, that is the only problem I
am having, but other than that, I love the app.

Re: Strange Beeping and Repeated Text

2020-11-15 Thread Kathy Brandt
My iPod touch seventh generation doesn’t have the voice recognition option
after braille, so after exploration what I did was:
Settings/accessibility/voiceover/audio/sound/detected text and images; I hear
no beeps after turning sound to off.

Re: Strange Beeping and Repeated Text

2020-11-15 Thread Dave Clement
Hello,

I believe that if an iphone 7 is being used, the Voiceover Recognition features
are not available and I don't believe the option even shows up in Settings. It
does not do so on my iphone 8 running IOS 14.2. Apple says that the VO
Recognition feature only works on iphone 10R or 10S or newer.

If this is incorrect, please let me know how to do it as I would like to use
these new features. I have heard of some iphone 8 owners being able to use the
features but I can't on my iphone 8.

That’s due to your thermostat’s learned schedule, which so far has been

Hi,

Yes I have the nest thermostat connected to the Google home mini.

I find that periodically during the day the temperature changes on its own. And
I have to up it back to 77.

Re: Nest thermostat.

2020-11-15 Thread Jenny Bomareto
I just asked the Google referring not to the app on our phone but to the
actual thing that sitting on the table asked what the family room temperature
is, and he said cooling is 77 with the current temperature of 73 so I’m hoping
everything‘s OK and I’m not messing up the nest thermostat. As I do not want to
do anything to ruin it. As my Matt paid for it that’s another very important
reason I do not want to mess up the thermostat or it’s starting to burn out or
anything. Meaning where the gadget gets ruined.

Thanks for your prompt attention!

I have a Ring Pro video doorbell at home as well as a Nest Hello at the
back/delivery door of my retail store.
Both work quite well, I am curious what you find didn't work with the Ring app,
I find it very accessible with Voiceover and haven't really found anything
which is a problem.
The nice thing with Ring is that if you have an Amazon Echo Show, the Alexa
smart speaker with a display, you can connect them and once it's done all you
have to say is "Alexa, how me the fron tdoor" provided you call your doorbell
Front Door and a few seconds later a 2-way audio and video connection is
established. I know the video may not be of use to you, but you can then freely
speak to whoever might be there.
In the iOS app you can set it up so that if you tap on the doorbell it
instantly opens the life view as well although so far I noticed that by default
the speaker and microphone are not enabled, I assume there might be a setting
fgor this, but I haven't found it yet. In any case, both microphone and speaker
buttons are clearly labelled and double tapping on them enable them.
I hadn't really used Ring for quite some time since I had one of the original
first generation doorbells and by now the battery was so bad on it that it
always said live view was disabled and I had to first charge the battery even
though it was also hard wired, but during the last Amazon Prime Days in October
I couldn't resist the 50% discount on a Ring Pro doorbell and Echo Show 5
bundle for $199 Canadian, probably about $149 US and I just had my electrician
install the doorbell. It's not difficult to do especially since I already had
the oldone there, but I wanted to make sure my transformer which is over 20
years old provided the currect voltage so I thought I ask him to do it since he
could easily read the manual and measure the voltage.
I recently paid him over $20,000 to do the entire electrical wireing in my new
store so he did this one for free and it only took him maybe 20 or 25 minutes.

Best regards,
Sieghard

Hi,
I'm just wondering if anyone knows of an outdoor security camera or doorbell
with camera that works well with the iphone?
I had a chance to try my parent's ring version but found many of the buttons
weren't spoken with voice over.
Thanks for any suggestions

Chris,

Thanks for posting about StarPlayrX for those of us with SiriusXM accounts.
This app is much friendlier for accessing SiriusXM content when using Voiceover.

For those that listen to SiriusXM on their phone, here is a more simple and
accessible app that you can use. I got this from the Mosen at Large podcast.
The app is free and the link can be found below.

RE: Searching in the Instacart App

2020-11-15 Thread Richard Petty
Another approach is shown here:

after you have fully entered the store in which you are shopping, you will find
across the bottom of the screen these buttons: Shop, explore, and Buy it Again.
At times I also find a button labeled Savings among this group of buttons.

Double tap Explore. You will be taken to a screen with the heading Explore.
Beneath that heading you will find the word Search followed by the name of the
store and an ellipsis. Double tap there. Then, you’re in the edit field. Type
or dictate the name of the item and proceed as you usually do.

Hope this helps.

RE: Mailing Labels in IOS

2020-11-15 Thread Richard Turner
Mark Taylor had posted the below for printing envelopes from the Pages app.
There may also be a labels option in the same area so hopefully this will help.
To print an envelope from Pages:
Open Pages for iOS.
In the create new document area, there is a very, very long list of document
template styles from which to choose.
The document styles are arranged by categories said categories being denoted by
headings. So, you can set your VoiceOver Rotor to Headings and quickly move
down to the envelope template section from which you may select the envelope
style of your choice.

If navigating by headings stops before you get to envelopes, do a three finger
swipe up to scroll further through the list.

Hello all

Never having had much luck with printing labels from Contacts on my Mac, I
thought I might try to print them off either my iPhone SE or my iPad Mini.
However, I have searched high and low and can’t find any instructions on how to
do this, nor yet if it is possible.

A friend has also been trying to do this but has got nowhere, other than to use
a specialist label maker and he says life’s too short.

I guess we must both be planning on sending too many Christmas cards:).

Any thoughts?

TIA

I think VoiceOver recognition is not available until the SE2020 and the 11's
and maybe the X series and of course the 12's.
Check under VoiceOver Audio settings. That sounds like one of the new sound
options in iOS 14.
There are lots.

I don't see this setting anywhere, and I don't think it is available on the
iPhone 7. Could it be something else?

Re: Strange Beeping and Repeated Text

2020-11-15 Thread Chris Chaffin

This is a new feature of iOS 14 called VoiceOver Recognition. There are three
parts to this setting, and text recognition is turned on by default. The
setting can be found under Accessibility / VoiceOver / VoiceOver Recognition. I
believe you can find more information and even a podcast about it on AppleVis.

Hope this helps.

Chris

Strange Beeping and Repeated Text

2020-11-15 Thread K. Scott Carlson
Ever since I updated to iOS 14, after VoiceOver stops speaking on the screen,
occasionally I hear a beep and it speaks some text on a different part of the
screen. I've gone into settings, but have no idea what this could be.

Attention, Easier Way to Play SiriusXM

2020-11-15 Thread Chris Chaffin

For those that listen to SiriusXM on their phone, here is a more simple and
accessible app that you can use. I got this from the Mosen at Large podcast.
The app is free and the link can be found below.

StarPlayrX

Enjoy,

Mailing Labels in IOS

2020-11-15 Thread 'ChalmersAS' via VIPhone

TIA

Adrienne
