I have to agree that once ads are gone it is a pretty accessible app. When 
there is an alert open the app and touch about a third of the way down the 
screen. It will say the alert and once double tapped it gives you all kinds of 
info. Make sure it is on the icon at the bottom that doesn't have a label which 
I think is the homepage for the app. It also has as you flick up with 3 fingers 
all kinds of info from weather news with videos to how much flu is in your area 
to whether it is good running weather. Hope this helps.

I agree with you about the sound, and the transparency mode, Mark. I was 
prepared not to like the AirPods Pro, which I bought when they were on a very 
lovely sale from Amazon. But I’m keeping them. They’re the first earbuds I 
really actually like, surprise! I’ve always been an over the years headphone 
fan and still M. But the transparency mode on these is really good. And when 
you do finally upgrade, if you have a media that will do it, try the spacial 
audio. It’s awesome!

Mark on AirPods Pro

Hello Everyone,  

I recently purchased AirPods Pro.  Until now, I have only ever used the
original AirPods.

I have to say that I am, to my surprise, impressed.  I'm not sure how but,
for whatever reason, the sound is better in the Pro model than it is on the
original.  The best part is that there is not too much bass; always a
concern to me as I have no hearing loss in the lower registry of the sound
spectrum.

The transparency mode is the absolute best.

Now I paired my Pro model with my beloved 8 Plus which is running iOS 13.07;
so I realize that I do not have all of the functionality that comes with iOS
14.  Still, the AirPods Pro is impressive.

It would appear that, in order to have VoiceOver switch between iPhone and
Watch OS, one must invoke Siri on the target device.

Not perfect but, at least, not horrible.  I wish the Pro model could pair to
multiple devices as this would, in theory, allow one to hear sounds from two
separate devices which, again in theory, would allow VoiceOver to remain
active from any paired device.  

Special thanks to list member Ed for taking my calls and helping me learn
how to switch out the ear tips.

Frankly Bill, I don't like the APP much though I bought the annual 
subscription. I don't recall what it costs, but only that it renews in June, 
2021 and unless I can figure out how to make it more accessible, I don't plan 
to renew it, but chalk it up to a bad decision made on the spot. I don't 
recommend the APP.

The Logitech K480 VO keys are the 1st and 3rd from the left.  The bottom row 
from left to right is:
Control, Function/FN, Options, command, Spacebar, Command, Options, left arrow, 
down/up arrow, right arrow.

The Function key between Control and Options does nothing useful that I have 
found.
So, for keyboard help or practice mode, it is control+options+k then escape to 
get out of it.

Logging in to the cloud, on my watch

Hello everyone,


Due to me messing with the Apple ID and such for my account, I have ran 
in to a problem. I am not quite sure how to fix this.



My watch is wanting me to log back in to the cloud. However, I am unable 
to do this. I see where I can enter the password. But from what I can 
tell, there is no way to enter the password. At least, not from the watch.


When I first tried to log in, I saw that a keyboard had popped up on my 
phone. So I went to put in the password.


But I guess I moved my finger up to far on the screen, because then that 
keyboard was gone. Now it doesn't come up, if I try to log in to the 
cloud, from the watch.



So does anyone know what I can do, in order to take care of this?

Well, I am not sure either with their new and supposedly improved site.
The Spanish chat seems to be something you would sign up for and connect every 
Thursday to practice speaking Spanish, but how one signs up, etc., I wouldn't 
have a clue.

On the web site there is this bit of helpful info:

Call 800-323-4238 or select the Help button on any page to chat.

I suggest anyone who wants to use Hadley's resources, call them for specifics.

I hit on the first link to see what sorts of things were available and found 
Spanish language and then I was not able to activate anything. It was not clear 
at all what was audio, what was online, or what had something to do with 
braille enhancement. Am I off-the-wall here or is there something very unclear 
about the way they have that part of their page laid out? Nothing appeared to 
be a link. It referred to conversational Spanish with others as a chat. But 
then there were other options it appeared and yet nothing activated. So I’m not 
sure how the site works.

I got my Logitech K480 from Amazon today.

Could, someone, please, give me a little orientation to it? There is a
quarter of an inch deep slot above the F-Keys along the length of the
keyboard, what is that for?

The first time you do this, you will probably have to choose a password. You 
should be able to double-tap Passwords and then select the one for your Apple 
ID. That's assuming you've got iCloud Keychain set up and have entered your 
Apple ID password at some point.

Richard,
I hit on the first link to see what sorts of things were available and found 
Spanish language and then I was not able to activate anything. It was not clear 
at all what was audio, what was online, or what had something to do with 
braille enhancement. Am I off-the-wall here or is there something very unclear 
about the way they have that part of their page laid out? Nothing appeared to 
be a link. It referred to conversational Spanish with others as a chat. But 
then there were other options it appeared and yet nothing activated. So I’m not 
sure how the site works.

Weather channel question

Hello iPhone listers,

I have the Weather Channel App, but when I receive notifications and I go to 
view them, I double-tap the button and nothing happens. I might see an 
announcement that says, for instance, rain alert, but more than that I can't 
find out. When the subscription comes up for renewal, if I can't figure out how 
to read the notifications, I'll be forced to cancel the APP. Any suggestions?

Hello. In the update for Crafting Kingdom, the way you redeem quests has 
changed. When you complete a quest, there will be a button that says 1 either 
before or after the button which says to use a gem to reset the quest. Double 
tap the 1, and the quest will go from completed to active. At this point, you 
are able to use the reward from the quest. You will still have to reset in 
order to get a new quest in that slot, but now there is a way to claim and use 
the quest rewards without always needing to reset, like we had to do before. I 
don't know if one can hit the 1 and make the quest active, and then exchange 
for a new quest without losing the reward. I haven't been brave enough to try 
that yet. Finally, you will have to activate the 1 buttons before hitting the 
ascend button at the bottom of the Castle for all completed quests. The ascend 
button is the same as the old reset quest button in the old game, or whatever 
it was called.

my hand over the screen to lock it just to make sure the message gets sent and

I mean if I've got to press the digital crown to lock the screen then I might 
as well press it and say send lol at least this way I get a message saying it

Dictation and Audio Message Quality

Has the audio quality always been bad for audio messages sent via
iMessage? I’ve been experiencing difficulty with dictation accuracy. I
did a little experimenting, discovered my dictation dramatically
improves when I use ear buds. Then I recorded an audio message just to
check the difference. Without ear buds, the audio quality sounds
muddy, which leads me to believe this could be the issue with
dictation accuracy. I realize the audio quality is kept minimal to
save people data charges, but I guess I don’t remember this being an
issue with my 6S. I’m only noticing it with my new SE 2020. Thanks for
any information.

Which is why I mentioned email money transfer which here in Canada is an easy 
and very convenient way to send somebody money, there is a $10 minimum so I 
guess it wouldn't work if you wanted to send somebody less than that and there 
is usually a $3,000 daily and $10,000 weekly limit, but if you had to send 
somebody a larger amount than $3,000 you could either do so in two payments or 
ask you rbank to increase your limit.

apple pay is not supporting this feture hear in Canada. I checked for the apple 
pay butten in the messages app and didn’t find the butten or even the abillidey

apple pay it says keep all your payments in place and it gives mycard but I 
don’t seethat app apple pay I meen in the list of apps when I slide over to the 
toggle that says hide or show apps when I tern it to show it lists a lot of

I hope I'm not stating the obvious but you can only send or receive money using 
Apple Pay when transacting with someone running iOS on an iDevice. The below 
requirements are from the Apple Support article I posted at the beginning of 
this thread:

What you need

You and the person that you're sending money to or receiving the money from 
must:2,3

  *   Have a compatible device with the 
latest iOS or 
watchOS.
  *   Use two-factor authentication with your Apple 
ID and sign in to iCloud and iMessage 
with the same Apple ID on any device 
that you want to use to send or receive money.
  *   If you're sending money to someone, make sure there's enough money on 
your Apple Cash card or an eligible 
debit card in Wallet.

Strangely enough you only go into settings/wallet/apple pay to add money to 
Apple pay. when you wish to send someone money you do it via text message.
uncheck the box that hides other apps.
then swipe over to Apple pay and double tap
all the way near the end you wil find the picker item to set the amount
choose request or pay
now go back to the front and send

Hello Donna,

My Apple Id email used to be siegh...@hotmail.ca and I used this email address 
for several years after I first got my iPhone and purchased dozens of as 
underit.
When outlook.com email addresses became available I signed up for an email 
address with that domain and gradually switched everything over to that email 
address including my Apple Id and I then have been purchasing apps with that 
Apple Id ever since.
Now when I redownload old apps or get updates for them they always work, I 
never ever had to enter my old email address and password for this.
I assume what you did is sign up for a second Apple Id which you now use 
instead of changing your Apple Id email and this is why you still need to use 
both Apple Id's. If I sign in at AppleId.apple.com and click on "Edit Account", 
I see the following information:

SieghardWeitzel Your Apple ID is ***@outlook.com (my email address, it does 
show the full address, but it's not one I will share here)
I can then see the following:
Change Apple ID… button menu   collapsed  menu
Enter a new email address to use as your Apple ID:  Edit   Required, if I 
expand this I get this:
Enter a new email address to use as your Apple ID:  Edit   Required
This is an edit field where I could now enter the new email I want to use as my 
Apple Id, once I do and click Continue this email becomes my new Apple Id email 
and all previously purchased apps will be associated with it as will any I 
purchase going forward.

I didn’t say that apps purchased with the old Apple ID would be inaccessible. 
All apps purchased with the old Apple ID will definitely continue to work as 
they currently do.  What I said was, the login info to the old Apple ID will be 
necessary to update apps purchased with the old Apple ID. If there is another 
way to update apps purchased with Apple ID Aa, while now using the new Apple ID 
Bb, please do share the steps to do this? This would make my life sooo much 
easier, not having to remember 2 Apple ID’s & their passwords. I have 3 apps 
that were purchased 5 years ago, using a family Apple ID account. These apps 
are updated regularly. The only way I know there is an update to the apps, is 
by periodically logging into the old family Apple ID or checking the app 
developers Facebook page.
