I have a 6S plus phone. I need to know how to get the sound back when you plug
the wire into the phone when charging it. It vibrates but I don’t get the
sound. What do I do to get that back please?

It sounds like you might be confusing the character and word rotor setting
with the typing feedback settings. The rotor settings control how far you
move through the document. The settings it sounds like you want are found
in Voiceover just past the "rotor actions" settings. Once you double tap
the typing button, flick right until you reach the "typing feedback"
setings. Double tap this and then select what you want from there. Remember
that you can have different settings for software and hardware keyboards so
check that to make certain that you're getting the typing feedback you
want. Hope that helps.

I’ve been afraid to update.

2021-02-05 Thread Duane Steele
Hello iPhone Listers,

I'm one who doesn't adapt well to drastic change, and therefore, I have
resisted updating to iOS 14 even with the latest improvements. My question is:
Can I update to 14 without having my phone make too many changes? I like my
screen set up just like it is, and my iPhone's my only connection with all my
friends and family and former parishioners. I'm retired, and have reached that
golden age where I like the status quo, subscribing to the old idea that "if it
ain't broke, don't fix it.” I know that eventually, I'll have to update from 13
to 14. Am I just being paranoid about this? If so, and if I should just “bite
the bullet” and update, please advise. Otherwise, thanks for just letting me
letting me vent.

Peace & Blessings,
Pastor Duane L. Steele

RE: I’ve been afraid to update.

2021-02-05 Thread Richard Turner
Well, I would read everything in the Applevis blog about the updates to 14,
14.1, 14.2, etc., to help you decide.
In short, the main layout of your phone should not change at all.
It doesn't move apps around or anything.
It adds other features like the app library which I totally ignore.
There are likely new settings that you can delve into, but don't have to.
The most annoying one is this Direct Touch business which in 14.4 is much
better as it doesn't cause the headaches that were present in 14.3.
There are a ton of blogs on Applevis.com but here is the link to the main blog
page and if you go through it by headings, you can find the ones on iOS 14,
etc. www.applevis.com/blog

I had my iPhone on 12.41 which I still think was awesome, then I
updated to 13.7 which was okay. I recently updated to 14, and my
screen hasn't changed all that much except I now have 3 pages of apps
instead of 4, but other then that, my screen is easy to use. I'd
update to 14, you should be fine.

Hi,

What iphone do you have? To some degree, the impact of some of the new features
of IOS 14.x will depend on which iphone you have. Most existing IOS features
will remain the same but new features like "voiceover recognition" only apply
to newer iphones. As others have suggested, read over the upgrade notes for

RE: I’ve been afraid to update.

2021-02-05 Thread Richard Turner
As Brad said, if you have the Mantis Q40 or the Chameleon 20 from APH, do not
update!

There is a problem with those displays and 14.4.

Otherwise, you should be fine.

An email Questions

2021-02-05 Thread Noe Villeda
Hello Listers,

I have two different email accounts.

When I open the folders in my verizon.net account in the email app, I'm
reading through the list of folders, I found a folder labeled All mail, when
I open it, it shows messages that I've previously deleted, sent, and
received.

I don't see this folder when I open Outlook on my pc.

Is there any way to view this folder in Outlook to get rid of some of the
clutter?

I believe the all mail is just in the mail app, not on the PC.
All mail, means just that, all of your mail.
In outlook on the PC, each account has its own folder and within those
accounts, the deleted items have their own folder, etc.

RE: An email Questions

2021-02-05 Thread Richard Turner
Another note about that all mail folder, it is just showing mail from the other
folders, it is not really independent of them, which is why deleting things
there, will delete them from their real location.

Re: An email Questions

2021-02-05 Thread Marie
Actually if using Gmail there is always an all mail folder. Sometimes it does
not download automatically to outlook or may even be called “Important”? I ran
into this a year or so ago and was advised to create the all mail folder in
outlook and on the next start it would be present and populated by gmail. This
did work for me and I was able eventually to get rid of several thousand (and
yes, I did say Thousands) of emails.

I believe Noe Villeda was asking about a Verizon.net account and not a Gmail
account. I don’t have a Verizon.net account, so I’m not sure how that works.

For Gmail, I just delete my messages, or move them to the trash, and Gmail will
delete them after 30 days or so. The only time my All Mail would have thousands
of messages is if I had them lying around in my in box or some other folder.

2021-02-05 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Duane,

Well, it looks like I'm going to be in the minority on this one; but I say
don't update your iPhone 8 to the latest OS.

I have both an 8 Plus and an iPhone 11. I have iOS 13.7 on my 8 and the latest
iOS on my 11.

I see absolutely no reason to upgrade my 8 Plus. In my opinion, some people
just don't know when to quit. By this I mean, there have been times, in the
past, when I have updated an older device to the latest OS only to discover
that doing so caused the older device to perform more slowly.

Again, this is just my opinion but as far as I am concerned, I think you should
leave well enough, alone.

Facebook Question

2021-02-05 Thread Tom Lange
Hi all,
Tonight I opened the Facebook app, tapped on the Notifications Tab, and I see a
notification that says “x people wrote on your timeline”. When I double-tap on
that notification, I see my posts but nothing from anybody else. How do I find
the posts that the notification refers to?
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom, go to your profile, go to activity. And you should be able to view your
timeline.

Re: Facebook Question

2021-02-05 Thread Tom Lange
Wow, I’ve used the Facebook app for years and never knew about the Activity
Log. That was perfect! Thanks! Oh, one minor point of clarification in case
anybody else wants to find it. Double-tap the Facebook Menu Tab, then flick
down to Profile Tools and double-tap it. Then, starting from the Back button at
top left, flick right five times.
