Subject: Regarding Audio Playing When I Don't Want

Greetings,
This has been an issue that has been happening for a little while, but it is really beginning to annoy me. I’m not quite sure how to describe it.
I listen to music with the Apple music app. I also have the OoTunes radio app and listen to stations there, along with other radio apps. When I’m done with whatever radio or music app I’m using, I’ll stop whatever is playing and close the
 app.
I could be doing something else on my phone, or maybe even just accidentally bumping the phone, and suddenly, the music or radio from the app comes back up playing. It is really annoying because since the app is technically closed, I have
to remember which app it is, open it, stop whatever is playing and close down the app again.
Sometimes, I might be in an app where I may want to dictate something, and if I do a two finger double-tap, the music or radio app might sometimes come up again.
I’ve noticed it happening more lately.
Any idea what could be going on and how I can keep these apps from coming up at any time
This seems to happen when I’m the most careful.

Thanks.
Jim

Re: Content of Notifications Not Read On Lock Screen After Updating to 16.1

2022-10-24 Thread Michelle Hurdt
Heya there Katrina,

I have the same issue on my 14 pro max, and haven't updated yet. The only
way to know a notification is to go in the notification center, so not sure
what could be going on there.
For me, it doesn't read it when unlocked either.

RE: Outlook mail

2022-10-24 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I don't think it's any more complicated than Thunderbird or the IOS Mail app.
It does work a bit differently though, so it might appear complicated to
someone who's new to it. In IOS for example, you get an in box with some
preview lines. VoiceOver will tell you how many messages are in the thread. If
you double tap a message or a thread then it'll open up. In a thread you can
flick up or down to move from message to message. At the top of each message,
you can perform some actions on the individual message, like delete or move it.
At the very top, you can take actions on the entire thread, like delete all
messages in the thread or move all messages to a folder. You also have some
buttons on the bottom to reply or forward a message.

IMHO, if you're happy with Thunderbird and the IOS Mail app, I don't see any
reason to change, unless you just want to play around to find an app that you
might like a bit better.

I have never used Outlook on any device ever. I have heard from people who do
use it say it's very complicated, and all I want is a Mail app. So I use
Thunderbird on my computer and iOS mail on my iPhone or iPad. But now I'm
wondering about Outlook mail. I've heard people say it works well. Android and
iOS. But I just don't want to get into a big complicated mess. Does anybody
know of anything anywhere that really sort of describes how you use outlook on
these platforms?

And that’s nice. I didn’t like having to delete 20 tons of voiceover messages. :-) I hope that helps. Sent from my iPhoneOn Oct 24, 2022, at 7:26 PM, B. J. Maynard wrote:

Content of Notifications Not Read On Lock Screen After Updating to 16.1

2022-10-24 Thread Katrina Anderson
I am thrilled to report things are greatly improved on my iPhone 8 after
updating to 16.1 (e.g. app switcher & Notification Center work well now),
but I now have a new problem.

I'm alerted to new notifications when the phone is locked, but the
notification isn't read; I have to swipe around before voiceover reads the
notification. This doesn't happen when the phone is unlocked. When the
phone is unlocked, I am alerted to the arrival of a notification, and that
is followed by the actual notification. I've tried rebooting, and checked
settings.all seems okay to me.

Any thoughts?

Katrina


Thanks.

I have also been having issues with my ring app. When I get an incident alert,
I can’t read the whole description of what has happened. I see the incident
and how far away, but when I try to read more, I just get a bunch of words that
seem like they are in another language.

A sighted person can read it fine, and not see the weird language.

Also many buttons that are not labeled.

Hi Sarai,

I hesitate to post because I always like to be helpful rather than muddying the
waters. I can replicate that which your friend reports though in my case things
got worse once in the hamburger menu and as your friend says screen recognition
helps but is by no means a full solution. I had the issues in iOS15 not just 16
so I don't know that it's fair to say it's an Apple issue for if it were it
would seem to me to be more endemic or system wide rather than app specific.
This is just my opinion but the Ring app as a whole seems to be regressing in
terms of accessibility. I've reported these issues to both Amazon and Ring so
they are known issues and so far no fixes have seemed to be forth coming.
Speaking strictly for myself in light of this I've begun exploring other
options that might better serve my use case scenario.

I'm sorry I can't offer any solutions and as I said I hope I haven't muddied
the waters further. But sometimes it is a comfort to know that others can
replicate the issues one is experiencing. I wish your friend the best of luck
should they choose to contact Ring and Amazon to join the politely reporting
issues advocacy party. 

Take good care,

Robin

Re: ring app issues

2022-10-24 Thread Robin Frost

Hi Sarai,

I hesitate to post because I always like to be helpful rather than
muddying the waters. I can replicate that which your friend reports
though in my case things got worse once in the hamburger menu and as
your friend says screen recognition helps but is by no means a full
solution. I had the issues in iOS15 not just 16 so I don't know that
it's fair to say it's an Apple issue for if it were it would seem to me
to be more endemic or system wide rather than app specific. This is just
my opinion but the Ring app as a whole seems to be regressing in terms
of accessibility. I've reported these issues to both Amazon and Ring so
they are known issues and so far no fixes have seemed to be forth
coming. Speaking strictly for myself in light of this I've begun
exploring other options that might better serve my use case scenario.

I'm sorry I can't offer any solutions and as I said I hope I haven't
muddied the waters further. But sometimes it is a comfort to know that
others can replicate the issues one is experiencing. I wish your friend
the best of luck should they choose to contact Ring and Amazon to join
the politely reporting issues advocacy party. 

Take good care,

Robin

Regarding Audio Playing When I Don't Want

2022-10-24 Thread Jim Portillo
Greetings,

This has been an issue that has been happening for a little while, but it is
really beginning to annoy me. I’m not quite sure how to describe it.

I listen to music with the Apple music app. I also have the OoTunes radio app
and listen to stations there, along with other radio apps. When I’m done with
whatever radio or music app I’m using, I’ll stop whatever is playing and close
the app.

I could be doing something else on my phone, or maybe even just accidentally
bumping the phone, and suddenly, the music or radio from the app comes back up
playing. It is really annoying because since the app is technically closed, I
have to remember which app it is, open it, stop whatever is playing and close
down the app again.

Sometimes, I might be in an app where I may want to dictate something, and if I
do a two finger double-tap, the music or radio app might sometimes come up
again.

I’ve noticed it happening more lately.

Any idea what could be going on and how I can keep these apps from coming up at
any time

This seems to happen when I’m the most careful. 

Thanks.

Jim
