a.. To access Siri, long press the lock button.
b.. To get to the App Switcher, start at the bottom of the screen and slide
up until you feel the third vibration. Two vibrations will get you to the home
screen and three vibrations will get you the App Switcher.
c.. To stop and restart VoiceOver, use a triple press of the lock button.

The assistive touch button is a very useful feature. How to Enable a Virtual

I’ve used it in the past when the home button on one of my older phones was all
wonky and I didn’t feel like hassling with trying to fix it.

It’s also convenient to have with all the larger sized iPhones. On my XR, I
have it placed on the right side of the screen (I’m right handed) just above
the dock of apps. Not necessary, but it’s still nice to have options to do this
or that gesture

Re: iPhone, and Bluetooth issues

2023-05-23 Thread Loreal Lavigna
I don’t have any problem with VoiceOver, and it only seems to occur when I am connected to Bluetooth for a speaker or for AirPods. I can cast some thing to my TV without there being an issue, but it’s weird whenever it’s connected to Bluetooth for audio. Only, it seems to be an issue. It was happening before the release of iOS 16.5, so I don’t think it’s a version issue at least not with the latest version anyway. I’ve never had any issue with voice over at all, so I can’t say there’s anything there either. LorealSent from my iPhoneOn May 23, 2023, at 7:06 PM, Jennie Facer wrote:Hi there,If you are running 16.5, I am having the same issue on my phone. I would compare it to if you were driving, and you’re going through a dead zone where you have sound, then you don’t, then it kind of bounces between having it and not having it, but it’s very choppy. I’ve tried the same thing on my iPad and everything works as it should. But I cannot figure out what I might be having an issue with. I’ve even gone so far as to reset all settings, but ultimately not reset my device to factory defaults and have to reinstall and re-sync data. I’m trying to avoid that at all costs if it all possible. Like I said, the issue does not appear to be on my iPad, but does appear instead to be on my iPhone. I am using an iPhone 13 promax, 256 GB,  And on my iPad where I don’t have any issues it is an iPad mini latest generation also running 16.41A. I am actually in the process of upgrading to 16.5 to see if perhaps this might rectify the issue. I would be interested to find out if anyone else has run into this issue and if so, what may have been done to correct it short of if it all possible, resetting the device to factory defaults and erasing all data and contacts. Home button gestures on an iPad

2023-05-23 Thread Jennie Facer
Hi Andy,

What i would suggest is sliding up from the bottom of the screen until you feel
a couple of bumps. I think it could be the same for sighted people, just
without VoiceOver’s clicks.

Re: iPhone, and Bluetooth issues

2023-05-23 Thread Jennie Facer
Hi there,

If you are running 16.5, I am having the same issue on my phone. And, when I
don’t have airPods in, my VoiceOver gets snappy and it cracks through my
speakers. I thought it was my phone.

Gestures That Replace Home Button for iPad

2023-05-23 Thread Andy Baracco
My wife just got a new iPad and to her surprise, she realized that it does
not have a home button.
Does anyone know where I can obtain a list of gestures that perform the
functions of the home button?

Hi all.
It's a pretty serious bug when you don't have the luxury of audio books or
listening with speech.
That said, Davy, I encourage you to try reading a book on Android, any version
of the OS, and tell me why Apple's feature which worked pretty well is somehow
less sue worthy than Android. What about Samsung?
Their phones don't appear to be working with the new itteration of TalkBack's
braille support. Their watches have 0 braille support.
Also, why depend on America to do that? You have an EU counterpart, right? Or
am I misunderstanding the purposes behind the European Blind Union? Here's an

Have you tried turning the bluetooth off and then back on again? Or try

Right. Google Play Books just now got the ability to turn pages when

I'd be interested in what exactly these iOS 16 bugs are you mention. At this
point iOS 16 is about as mature as it will get with as few issues as iOS 15.
Just today the iOS 16.6 public beta was released and it is likely that iOS
16.6 will be the final version of iOS 16, there may of course be several
third level updates, e.g. there will be iOS 16.6, there may be iOS 16.6.1,
iOS 16.6.2 etc., but in two weeks iOS 17 will be introduced at WWDC, by late
June or early July the first iOS 17 public beta will be out and in September
as always iOS 17 will be released for the masses. I personally can't see a
single reason why one should avoid iOS 16 at this time and the bug Davy
described is I assume not an iOS 16 bug but a Facebook bug.

I did not even get iOS 16 because all of the problems people kept talking
about I’m still hanging back on the latest version of iOS 15.

Hi,

I’m seeing an issue with Kindle and Voice dream Reader where everything
works fine until I get to the end of a page. The next page opens normally,
but once it does, all four thumb keys on my braille display stop working. I
hear a thunk sound when I press one, and nothing changes on the display. If
I press Home, I am unable to navigate with the thumb keys. Restarting
VoiceOver is the only way I have found to fix the problem. After that,
panning works fine until I try to use Kindle or voice dream Reader again.
Apple Books works fine. Are these the same problems the rest of you are
seeing?

I sent a bug report about this a week or so ago. Unfortunately, the problem
remains in beta 1 of iOS 16.6.

2023-05-23 Thread Scott Davert
Hi all.
It's a pretty serious bug when you don't have the luxury of audio
books or listening with speech.
That said, Davy, I encourage you to try reading a book on Android, any
version of the OS, and tell me why Apple's feature which worked pretty
well is somehow less sue worthy than Android. What about Samsung?
Their phones don't appear to be working with the new itteration of
TalkBack's braille support. Their watches have 0 braille support.
Also, why depend on America to do that? You have an EU counterpart,
right? Or am I misunderstanding the purposes behind the European Blind
Union? Here's an ignerant American making suggestions

Hi Sieghard

That is the case, but for all people reading kindle books or have other
applications blocking when moving tot he next page with the panning keys, press
space+o to fulfill this task until the bug is fixed.

I did not even get iOS 16 because all of the problems people kept talking about
I’m still hanging back on the latest version of iOS 15.

Hi,

I’m seeing an issue with Kindle and Voice dream Reader where everything works
fine until I get to the end of a page. The next page opens normally, but once
it does, all four thumb keys on my braille display stop working. I hear a thunk
sound when I press one, and nothing changes on the display. If I press Home, I
am unable to navigate with the thumb keys. Restarting VoiceOver is the only way
I have found to fix the problem. After that, panning works fine until I try to
use Kindle or voice dream Reader again. Apple Books works fine. Are these the
same problems the rest of you are seeing?

I sent a bug report about this a week or so ago. Unfortunately, the problem
remains in beta 1 of iOS 16.6.

Best,

Anna

This bug has been introduced in ios16.5.
DO COMPLAIN with Apple NW!

iPhone, and Bluetooth issues

2023-05-23 Thread Loreal Lavigna
Just curious. I’ve noticed very recently I’m having an issue with any Bluetooth
speakers/earbuds/AirPods. Makes no difference what is connected to my phone,
but after a bit of time, there is a sound like breaking up in the speaker or in
the AirPods. I would compare it to if you were driving, and you’re going
through a dead zone where you have sound, then you don’t, then it kind of
bounces between having it and not having it, but it’s very choppy. I’ve tried
the same thing on my iPad and everything works as it should. But I cannot
figure out what I might be having an issue with. I’ve even gone so far as to
reset all settings, but ultimately not reset my device to factory defaults and
have to reinstall and re-sync data. I’m trying to avoid that at all costs if it
all possible. Like I said, the issue does not appear to be on my iPad, but does
appear instead to be on my iPhone. I am using an iPhone 13 promax, 256 GB, And
on my iPad where I don’t have any issues it is an iPad mini latest generation
also running 16.41A. I am actually in the process of upgrading to 16.5 to see
if perhaps this might rectify the issue. I would be interested to find out if
anyone else has run into this issue and if so, what may have been done to
correct it short of if it all possible, resetting the device to factory
defaults and erasing all data and contacts.

Re: new tramendous brail panning bug for all brail devices DO NOT UPDATE to ios16.5

2023-05-23 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I don't use a braille display with my iPhone by choice, although, if I
wanted, I could use my BI40X display. It is very common to have
braille bugs when an update for IOS comes out. This is nothing new
and shouldn't surprise anyone. I strongly urge anyone who isn't
updated to IOS 16, to do so. There are certain apps, like audible
for example, that need and want you to update to the latest version of
IOS to work properly. Good luck.
