Haptic time

2023-12-13 Thread Fanus

Hello list

I got my S9 watch on Monday. For me it is a pity that Haptic time is
part of VoiceOver because it would have been nice to get the time during
the night without waking my wife. Also, what is magic tap under the hand
gesture settings?

Regards

Fanus

Re: Haptic time

2023-12-13 Thread Parham Doustdar
Hi,
Haptic time doesn’t need speech, that’s the main point. However, I’ve noticed
that with one of the WatchOS updates, double-tapping the screen doesn’t work
well. So, what I often do is tap the screen 3 times. Sometimes it gives me just
the minutes, but often it gives me the hour and minutes.
Hope that helps.

I've had to use three taps to get the time and four taps to get just the

Hi,

I know a lot of people have troubles with this, but I don’t. What i do is tap
the watch twice with 1 finger while it is asleep, and it will vibrate the time
to me. The long vibrations are for tens of minutes or hours, and the short ones
are for 1 through 9. It does work.

No, you should not have to turn speech
off, that is for silent use.  Are you tapping the screen with
the tips of your fingers?  I find that if I use the pads of my

2023-12-13 Thread Mary Otten
This used to work reasonably reliably for me as Jen has described. However, it has been totally worthless for several months, after an upgrade I think to the previous iOS, I should say watchOS. I have it set to on, but whenever I do that double tap I always get speech which I don’t want. But I don’t want to turn speech completely off either. It used to work fine, and I have reported it to Apple to no avail.MarySent from my iPhoneOn Dec 13, 2023, at 5:07 AM, Jennie Facer wrote:Hi,I know a lot of people have troubles with this, but I don’t. Hi,
Haptic time doesn't need speech, that's the main point. However, I've noticed
that with one of the WatchOS updates, double-tapping the screen doesn't work
well. So, what I often do is tap the screen 3 times. Sometimes it gives me just
the minutes, but often it gives me the hour and minutes.
Hope that helps.

Uncertain About Language Setting

2023-12-13 Thread Jim Portillo
Good morning everyone,

I thought I read something on this list that there is a new VO command to
toggle between VoiceOver languages. Is this true? Otherwise, I have put the
Spanish voice language on the roter. If there is a new way of doing this, I’d
like to know. I’ve not had a lot of time to keep up with the new settings and
commands these past couple mon ths. 😊

This used to work reasonably reliably for me as Jen has described. However, it
has been totally worthless for several months, after an upgrade I think to the
previous iOS, I should say watchOS. I have it set to on, but whenever I do that
double tap I always get speech which I don’t want. But I don’t want to turn
speech completely off either. It used to work fine, and I have reported it to
Apple to no avail.

RE: Haptic time

2023-12-13 Thread Christopher Chaltain
It works fairly reliably for me, but like I said, I do a three finger tap to
get the time and a four finger tap to get the minutes. I don't know why I need
three and four taps while others can use two and three taps. I find I also need
the screen to be off, so if I'm not sure, I'll lift my wrist a bit and then
drop it back down before tapping my phone. I'd also suggest practicing a bit.
It took me a while to get down the pace of my tapping, for example, I tap a bit
slower when getting my time hapticly then I do when I tap on an object on the
screen.

I had very mixed success with 2 taps lately, so I'm guessing this is in one of
the recent updates.
I'm currently running 10.1.1 I haven't updated to 10.2 I guess...

Hi,
Haptic time doesn't need speech, that's the main point. However, I've noticed
that with one of the WatchOS updates, double-tapping the screen doesn't work
well. So, what I often do is tap the screen 3 times. Sometimes it gives me just
the minutes, but often it gives me the hour and minutes.
Hope that helps.

I don't understand needing to do the 2 or 3 taps versus the 3 or 4 taps either.

Sometimes 2 taps works for me, and other times I need to do 3.

This setting was set to 2.5 seconds with the ios17.1 update or the ios17
version.  I'm not certain which one, but a lot of the users changed that
setting.  I changed mine to 3.5 seconds and have had no problems since.

I have an iPhone 13 Pro and both methods work for me.
If you are on iOS 17.1 or 17.2 have you increased the double tap response time
a little? This really made a difference for me with the issue where a double
tap was simply registered as a single tap meaning you try to double tap say a
home screen icon to open an app but instead you would simply put focus
elsewhere on the screen.
This is in Settings > Accessibility > Voiceover > Double Tap Time Out.
I believe the default is 0.3 seconds and I changed it to 0.5 seconds on the
recommendation of somebody else (sorry, forgot who it was).

I just tried that three taps instead of two, and I got voiceover telling me the

Go into your email and type the first part of his name. Hit the down arrow to

I want to delete an email address that belonged to my husband. He changed it to
something different. I changed it in the contact I have for him on the phone.
But when I go into email and type the first part of his name, that old address
still shows up. I know there’s a way to get rid of it. I don’t remember, and I
have looked through the Mail settings and found nothing that looked like what I
wanted. Any ideas out there?

Thanks. After posting, I actually found that. You can just flick up on the
address to delete and it deletes. Actions are available I guess. Felt pretty
stupid.

Why aren’t messages deleted if I deleted on one device?

2023-12-13 Thread Mary Otten
I get text messages, and I have an Apple Watch and an iPhone. If I delete
something on my iPhone, it will even say this will be deleted on all of your
devices, but it isn’t. And I don’t think the watch actually says things will be
deleted on all my devices, but why not? And this could also apply to
notifications. If I have notifications on my screen and I delete them all from
the lock screen, why do I have to continue to do that when I go into
notifications? I don’t want to keep deleting and deleting and deleting the same
darn thing on multiple devices in multiple places. What am I missing? I want
them gone everywhere if I deleted once. Is that too much to ask or am I missing
something?
Mary

Re: answering a call

2023-12-13 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I actually made my double tap time faster not slower. I had no
problems when double tapping when using my iPhone screen. Of course,
I mostly use my Hable One with my phone, not the screen, but when I do
use the screen on my iPhone 13 pro max, I have no issues double
tapping and it working correctly.

Hi,
Haptic time doesn't need speech, that's the main point. However, I've noticed
that with one of the WatchOS updates, double-tapping the screen doesn't work
well. So, what I often do is tap the screen 3 times. Sometimes it gives me just
the minutes, but often it gives me the hour and minutes.
Hope that helps.

RE: Haptic time

2023-12-13 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I just tried a 1-finger double tap about 8 or 10 times in a row, of course I
made sure the watch was locked/asleep after each time, but not once did it giv
eme haptic time.
I wonder if there is some other setting which causes you to tap 3 times and 4
times instead of 2 and 3 times.

Re: Haptic time

2023-12-13 Thread 'Harry Bell' via VIPhone
One finger double tap has worked for me for about a year, but I do recall that
on my previous Series 7 watch I had to do several resets until it started
working properly! It really should not be left in this precarious state by
Apple!
