More audio description services – interspersing broadcast audio with skilled voices describing Olympic and Paralympic scenes and context – will be available for viewers who are blind or visually impaired for the Paris Olympics than any previous Games. All
 coverage on NBC, including daytime, primetime, and late night, and the Gold
 Zone whip-around show on Peacock, will feature audio description provided by Descriptive Video Works. In a first for a U.S. broadcaster, audio description services for NBC coverage will be provided in stereo, enhancing the quality of sound for viewers.
For the Paralympic Games, NBC Sports will provide live audio description for all broadcast and cable programming, including those aired outside primetime hours, as well as on all simulstreams. 
Additionally, improved web content accessibility, including keyboard navigation, color contrast and support for screen readers, will be available on NBCOlympics.com, NBC.com, the NBC Sports app.  Livestreams and replays which offer audio description will

If she has finger dexterity issues or tremmors,  or any condition where

So on my IPhone with the youtubetv app.  If I’m watching a show which has a 
secondary audio track, I am able to go under settings, primary .. and then 
switch to secondary ..  and the secondary audio plays.

 

Doing that same thing on either an Apple TV or a Fire TV, there isn’t the 
option for the secondary audio.  Same program, same channel.

 

Should work the same both places and should be available both places.

 

As I mentioned I’m visually impaired, so the secondary audio has the 
descriptive track if available.  I have also check this out in places where the 
show might have a Spanish track, and there it also doesn’t work.

Honestly are you even paying any attention.

 

On both the Fire TV and Apple TV .. when a show is playing that on my phone has 
a secondary audio option ..

 

Bringing up the ap settings .. moving over to audio settings .. clicking on 
that brings up the primary choice . entering on that b brings up where you 
should be able to change it to secondary .. primary is the only thing listed 
there .. there isn’t a secondary option .. which should be there ..  This is 
all within the youtubetv app.

 

The secondary audio just isn’t there ..

On the Apple TV and Fire TV there is a setting under the App to turn on after 
the show is showing that has to be turned on for this to happen.  It is 
different from what you have on your phone for an Apple TV or Fire TV.  With 
your TV try pressing the down arrow and see if you have some settings there on 
the Apple TV.

I called Amazon's disability support phone line when i tried and was denied permission to purchase a kindle book from the Amazon.com shopping  app on my Iphone, last Saturday. The support person with whom i spoke told me she had reported the problem and it should be resolved the next day. After i made the call, i discovered a work-around, and i didn't follow up further. Here is how i was able to add the book to my kindle library. I asked the A-Lady to buy the kindle book, being sure to name the title and author, accurately. The transaction was completed, and the book arrived in my Kindle library almost instantly. I hope this works for you. But, of course, register your complaint about the shopping app denying permission to purchase a kindle book, as well. You only get text selection in edit fields or places where you can actually 
select any text.

Have you tried, for example, in the Messages app or Mail app or in Notes? Open 
a new Note and write something, then turn the rotor and I am pretty sure you

I have an IPhone SE & have the latest version 17 of IOS.  I have text selection 
on under voice over / rotor but it does not show up when I go through the 
rotor.  I tried unselecting it & selecting it again with no luck.  I do get 
something in rotor called actions.  It says actions activate.  When I select 
that nothing happens.  

 

So what am I doing wrong?  And what is actions in the rotor?

You said you already downloaded them, as long as you know where they are just 
go to the video, start playing it and find the Sghare button, then send it to 
your Dropbox.

As for saving it on a thumb drive directly from an iPhone would require you to 
have one of the USB drives which can plug directly into an iPhone, if you have 
anything below an iPhone 15 this means the drive has to have a Lightning port. 
Such drives usually come with an app and you would save it to the drive the 
same way via the share sheet and then instead of selecting Dropbox, you would 
select the app your thumb drive uses.

The Uber eats phone number really came in handy, thanks a lot: I was missing 
items, and in the app I could not select which ones in order to proceed. 
Besides getting my credit I let them know both on the phone and via DM on X 
that they need to fix this. I had uninstalled and reinstalled the app just  
yesterday which solved another issue I  was having, but not this one.

had been sent.  At least then I had an overabundance that I could enjoy over a 
couple days.

Hello Anna and thank you so much for taking the time to call Amazon.

 

When I called and spoke to Carla, who was an absolute delight, she 
confirmed that Amazon has some errors being reported by non-VoiceOver users 
because of some recent backend changes they’ve recently made.

 

While I know that many VoiceOver users do not use iPads and even those that 
do, probably don’t purchase Kindel content on a regular basis, via iPad, if 
this issue is not resolved, it could filter down to other Amazon web pages 
and that would be terrible.

 

Again, thank you and I hope that more of us will do the same by verifying 
and reporting this problem to Amazon.

Voice Control Question

I have a friend who just purchased a iPhone 15 Pro Max through T Mobile.
She was told that she needed to use Voice Control.  She does have a bit of
usable sight but tends to use Siri and Voice Over mostly.

 

Is it necessary for her to use Voice Control?  What is its purpose?  I think
it is making using an iPhone without a home button a bit more challenging
for her.

 

Just trying to figure things out so I can explain them a bit better to one
of her care givers.

also provide closed captioning for all digital livestreams with commentary

More audio description services – interspersing broadcast audio with skilled 
voices describing Olympic and Paralympic scenes and context – will be available 
for viewers who are blind or visually impaired for the Paris Olympics than any 
previous Games. All coverage on NBC, including daytime, primetime, and late

 Gold Zone whip-around show on Peacock, will feature audio description provided 
by Descriptive Video Works. In a first for a U.S. broadcaster, audio 
description services for NBC coverage will be provided in stereo, enhancing the

all broadcast and cable programming, including those aired outside primetime

It can, but as for text recognition, I have so far not found it even close to 
how well Seeing AI works when using the Short Text channel.
And just as a side note, I really miss not having access to it, I am using the 
iOS 18 Developer Beta and while I can use the Seeing AI app with the Document 
channel, light detection and so on, Short Text does nothing at this point and 
also you have to manually tap the Take Picture button in the documents channel, 
it does not take a picture automatically. Similary, it does currently not 
recognize barcodes.
It will be interesting to see if at some point during the Beta cycle this 
starts working again or if it will take an update to Seeing AI.

 Today I got a reminder of how much I dig the hell out of Be My AI.
 It’s been a while since I’ve used Be My Eyes, and especially its Be My AI 
 feature. I’ve used Be My AI for reading various types of mail and

 phone’s camera so that it could see the thermostat and took a picture. Be 
 My responded by saying that it saw the wall with the thermostat, and when 
 I asked what the thermostat was set to, it said that the lighting was too 
 poor, whereupon I flipped the light switch and took another picture. That 
 time, it could clearly see the thermostat, and when I again asked what it 
 was set to, it told me that the temperature was set to 74 according to 
 where the little red needle was pointing. Needless to say I was quite 
 pleased that I didn’t have to get sighted assistance. That may not seem 
 like such a big deal to some, but to me it was HUGE. That is yet another 
 example of how, for me at least, BE My AI ROCKS!
 For comparison purposes, I’ll use the Envision app to do similar things 
 and I’ll let you all know how it goes.
