Re: Braille Display command trouble
I think i have an answer, but what version of ios are you using? On Sep 10, 2017, at 3:09 PM, Dianewrote: I think this is the group I should ask this question of, so here goes. I have a folder of song lyrics in dropbox in access note. Each song is an individual file. My church naturally has an overhead which everyone else can read. I got the lyrics for the song so that I could follow along and sing with them. By the way, this happens even if the folder is just in the dropbox. I tried it within access note and regular dropbox. I find my song folder and enter on it, which is the the dot 8 key. I have the focus blue 40 display. I go in a song and I can start reading the words. I was told to hit chord b to go back. What I want to do is to go back out of the song back to the song list. That way I could go through my song list and find the next song that is put up. I hit chord b and it goes completely out of the folder to the beginning of dropbox things. As I swaid before, I tried it in access note and regular dropbox and it did the same thing. I flicked throught the list of folders to the right one. It will go inside the song folder but not further. It will not go in the individual song to read the words. I have to close the app and try again. My question is this. Is there a voice-over command for the Braille display to go back out of the song words to my list of songs? I know that dot 8 enters on things. I wanted to explain it very clearly to get the right answer. I hope someone can help. Thanks much. Re: Kindle Fire vs. IPhone App
The kindle fire reads kindle books better, but their voice program which is called voiceview can sometimes lock up and you have to wait about 30 seconds to continue whatever you are doing. It can be slower to respond, but I like the newer kindle fires because you can activate alexa and she will read books. There is a kindle fire group for the blind if you have more questions. I don't really have the money to purchase a new model, and I most likely won't for some time now. I know this might not seem like a lot of money for some of you, and I think this is wonderful! But unfortunately for me, it is. So I was looking at the Amazon tv Firestick. Does anyone on this list know much about this thing? If not, could someone kindly direct me to a list, where there are blind people who do know about this? Also, is this device accessible at all? If so, by how much? Will only part of it talk? Would I be able to download apps? Also, from what I read, it mentioned that you can get a subscription to Sling tv. From what I understand, Sling tv isn't accessible at all. So if I got a subscription on the Firestick, wouldn't it likely not be accessible? Any help with this, or thoughts on the matter, would be very much appreciated. Re: outlook for IOS
There are pros and cons to these two email apps. I like outlook because there is a files tab that shows any file attached to a messages, and outlook allows you to save the files in dropbox. However, you cant delete multiple subjects with a check box like you can in the native mail app. The native mail appp doesn't have the file attachment options. I don't wantto schedule another tech out here again, but will if I have no more options. I think there is something on the tv screen that needs clearing before everything works again. Could someone using uverse and apple tv tell me what to push to get things running again? The last tech that came out showed me which buttons to push on the control but that's not working now. Any suggestions? I can get the apple tv to play music through my bt speaker, but no voice over. Sometimes I can hear the siri beeps through the speaker. Re: Latest Version of Dream Reader and Adding Files from Drop Box
Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems the larger the file is, the harder it is to have voice dream sync it. Smaller files are much easier. I don't know about zepped files, it is easier for me to unzip them on the computer and let them sync to dropbox. On Apr 9, 2016, at 11:32 PM, Mauricio Molinawrote: Hi Sieghard and Richard, Here is some additional background in case it helps: I have been using the Dream Reader and Drop Box combination for easily over a year without issue and I have always preferred to zip folders with multiple mp3 files. I use the Windows 10 Send to/Compressed (Zipped) Folder option in the application key context menu to zip folders; this has always worked in the past. I only have one Drop Box account so it is not possible that I am using the incorrect Drop Box account. When I use my PC to add zipped items into the Drop Box desktop application, the items are visible on the two PCs on which I have Drop Box installed but are not visible in the Drop Box on my iPhone. If the zipped folder is not visible in the Drop Box app, it would make sense that it would also not be visible in the Dream Reader app. Folders that are not compressed and individual/single mp3 files are visible in the Drop Box and Dream Reader app. I experimented by zipping a selection of files instead of a folder, thinking that the number of folder levels may have something to do with the issue being experienced, but this did not help. At this point I am going to pursue this problem as a Drop Box issue. I still had a file in that folder with last September’s Apple Event which was in MP3 format, so just two files in the folder, the MP3 file and the zipped folder. I then opened Dropbox on my iPhone, tapped on the Files tab at the bottom and then I double tapped on the Voice Dream folder and both files were there including the zipped folder. I then downloaded Voice Dream to my 6S Plus since I never had it on that phone. I went to the Settings and enabled Dropbox, then tapped on Add at the top right, selected Dropbox and first I was asked to allow access to Dropbox from Voice Dream which I did, once I was in Dropbox I selected the Voice Dream folder and again both files showed up with a Download button next to each. I tapped download next to the zipped file which was about 98 Mb and after about 20 seconds the file was there in my Voice Dream library and I was able to start playing it. I am not sure what is wrong with your zipped files, how to you zip them? Do you a third-party application or just the built-in function Windows 7 and also 10 has? Also, if you check the properties of one of your zipped folders by right clicking on it and selecting properties (or you can use the Alt+Enter shortcut for Properties in Windows Explorer) what is the extension of your zipped file/folder? Re: Which Apple TV Offers Audio Description?
The way I understand it is that the tv itself doesn't have audio description, but the app you use. As far as I know the netflix app gives you the option of audio description on available movies and tv shows. Not all programs even on netflix aren't available for dvs. I have the 4th gen apple tv which is the latest. Anyone is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong, or add to my coment. the native mail app has never been great. Since I've been using an ios device there has always been some type of problex. don't have answers but I don't think the mail app will totally be reght. I continually see multiple mail threads with the same subject lines instead of one consolidated mail thread containing the same subject line. Does that make any sense? 3. If I move from my inbox to another folder, say, a folder containing saved messages, then attempt to return to my inbox, the inbox is gone. Gone! I can't get it back until I kill the mail app in the app switcher and restart Mail. What the heck's going on here? Btw, a colleague of mine at work is experiencing the same issue. I thought that maybe VoiceOver just isn't letting me see the inbox, so I turned VO off and back on again. No dice. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. okay, to answer the current questions, low power can be found under settings, then the battery button is about half way down. Push the battery button, then you will see low power. I am not sure about the full screen mode situation, but I will see if I can duplicate it. Now for the questions that follows specific subject line, I believe the unlock issue is an ios bug, because I got the same results on my 5s. Also had problems rating apps in the app store. One of them is for left/right page scrolls, like on the home screen. The other is for up/down page scrfolls, like a web page or email. I forget which is which at the moment. Then as yu continue to go toward the center you will find two buttons with an indented center. Your finger pad will easily go here. The left one is for escape, which is the same as space-b. The right one is for play/pause. This is the same as a 2-finger double-tap. Then right in the middle are the 2 most center buttons. These are only used as shift keys when you are in 8-dot mode. Re: If Anyone Is Using Only iDevices and No Computer, How Are You Faring?
The mail app that comes with the i-devices can be a pain if you get a lot a lot of email, but it is possible. The only problem I see is that you don't have any additional memory issues with an i-device as you do a computer. I seriously doubt that the mail app will ever be a productive and reliable full proof app especially if you use most of your i-device's memory. I have to leave 2-3 gig of memory on my iphone in order for mail to cooperate and be a normal productive app. On Jun 18, 2014, at 9:51 PM, Joseph FreeTech joseph.freet...@gmail.com wrote: Writing is going to be a bit of a headache since you will have to turn on the edit mode on the iPad whenever you need to type text. Since the experience on the iPad will for the most part be the same as your iPod, try quickly launching a text editing word processor type of app and quickly taking down a Note, and you will find it is more trouble than one would want to go through when taking down a quick Note or writing lengthy documents. I got along much better when I changed my mindset and concluded iOS devices are better used as consumption devices rather than production tools. I have carpeting and have had a cat for some 10 years, and this has not been a significant problem for me though my desktop is on cat level--the floor. Hi, all, I have a computer that needs a hard-drive replacement, at the very least, and possibly has a failed logic board. I'm seriously considering replacing it with an iPad. Price is only somewhat an issue, since there seems to be only about $100 US difference between a new model I would want and the iPad. RE: Replying to text messages
Hello Donald. To use Siri to reply to a text, you hold down the home button to activate Siri. Then simply say: Reply to text from *insert name* Then Siri will ask you what you wish the message to *insert name* to say. When not using Siri, open the messages app, tap on the string of messages you wish to reply to, and at the bottom of the screen will be an edit field. Question regarding gestures when using BiteSMS
Hello Raul, Ben, and all others who use this tweak routinely. I am just using BiteSMS for the first time, as I'd previously been using the Messages + tweak that came bundled with Intelliscreenx (for which I'm anticipating with great excitement). But since it's not ready yet, I thought I'd give BiteSMS a whirl. Here is my quick question; When one receives an incoming message while the phone is locked, the option of swiping up to reply or swiping right to close is presented. However, despite having tried every swiping gesture I could think of, i.e. 1, 2, and 3-finger swipes, full-screen swipes, swipes just within the message box etc. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get these options to activate. Which type of swipe is required? Any other tips regarding this tweak would also be greatly appreciated. RE: Call on GV Pro Jailbreak Payment Question
Hi Joe. I can answer one of your questions, regarding payment. After jailbreaking, the primary place you will obtain tweaks, which are what you referred to as apps, is called Cydia. This is the jailbreakers version of the app store. Yes, there are some paid tweaks, though you will find many are free. Once your phone is jailbroken, tweaks downloaded via Cydia can be paid for using either PayPal or Amazon. You can set these up when you create your Cydia account after jailbreaking. Your Cydia account can be created using either your Gmail or Facebook credentials. There is no connection between the ITunes/App store and Cydia, so nothing you purchase via Cydia will be paid for from your App Store account. If you have further questions on this, please let me know. Gallegos Sent: Wednesday, January 08, 2014 9:29 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: iOS7 Jailbreak Released Hi, can't speak for Ben, but below are some of the reasons why jailbreaking isn't quite as sexy as it used to be for me. Other than the Google Voice integration, which is still the primary reason for me to do it, the reasons below no longer seem important. iOS added the control center. Much of this functionality used to be done with SBSettings, now the Control Center takes care of that. iOS added the ability to block callers via messages, phone, or Facetime. Previously you had to use a jailbreak tweak to get this functionality. iOS added ability for more than 12 apps per folder. Again, jailbreak tweaks were needed to get this. Do you see the pattern? Apple might openly say that jailbreaking is akin to going to hell, yet new features in iOS 7 give you functionality which jailbreakers have enjoyed for years. So, Apple I think sees that some of the things which iOS 7 now does might not be so bad and that jailbreakers have the right idea. Once Apple adds custom gestures to open apps or do neat things like toggle wi-fi or whatever, then there will be no more need for Activator, another wonderful jailbreak tweak. -- Raul A. I can think of the Control Center and the improvements in the App Switcher which provide some functionality you could only get by jail breaking before, but it seems like there's still a lot to be gained by jail breaking, such as changing some of the defaults, like the keyboard, browser, TTS and so on, getting access to the underlying file system and more. I'm not trying to argue with you; I'm sincerely curious, and I'm guessing there's something I haven't thought about. I've jail broken my iPhone in the past, but one of my favorite apps won't run on a jail broken phone, so I haven't jail broken in a while, and I don't plan to, but I do kind of keep an eye on what's going on in the jail broken space. RE: Reading who likes Facebook statuses--help
Hi Beth. Were you able to see the likes via the notifications tab? I have been able to view them this way. However, I am having other difficulties, specifically when attempting to view things my friends have shared or commented on. I'll hear something like, Joe shared a link, but what Joe shared, or commented on, is not read. I'd love to circumnavigate these issues, and would gratefully appreciate any advice or corrections regarding what I should be doing? unable to fill out forms in safari
What is the problem? I can't get anything done like this. this is rediculous!!! I have reset everything on my 4s running 7.4. I don't know what's broken the worse, the mail program or safari. One works about as good as the other. Any suggestions on this safari issue is appreciated. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: unable to fill out forms in safari
well, I get this with many websites. for example, audible.com one of two things happens when I try to type anything on the form. Either the keyboard isn't registering the fact that I'm typing and nothing ends up being written on the form. The other thing that happens sometimes is that I get this type of junk when I'm typing. example åß∂ƒ©˙©∆˚¬¬…®´∑†¥¨¨¨ˆˆøππ“‘‘«¡™£¢∞§§•ªº–≠≠≠–ºª•¶§∞¢¢£¢£™¡ I don't think this is a keyboard issue, I've tried several keyboards with the same thing happening. I'm going to go to apple with feedback on this issue. I end up having to go back to the home screen, or in rare cases, closing the app. This takes unnecessary time that I don't always have./files/patterns/pdf/SN0160_0.pdf On Dec 17, 2013, at 7:40 PM, Cara Quinn modelc...@gmail.com wrote: HI melissa, A few questions; • What form(s) are you trying to fill out? • Can you send a link • What issues are you having when you are trying to fill out the above form? • Where, on the form do these issues happen?
