Re: "Location tracking on" is back again
Thanks, Mark. Maybe it is the new GPS app. Although it does seem to happen at times when I have not been using the GPS app at all that day. It's a mystery. Rebooting the phone would fix the problem. But rebooting is not exactly what I had in mind. Smile. Mary Sent from my iPhone > On Aug 28, 2016, at 11:57 AM, M. RE: "Location tracking on" is back again
Hello Mary, I only now just saw your email. It would appear that a few differences exist in the OS between back then when I first answered your Location Tracking question and now. In short, some third-party apps, like Nearby Explorer take longer to release the GPS or, perhaps the OS is more latent in releasing the GPS, these days. Regardless, once you make certain that the third-party GPS app is closed from the app-switcher, give it about 2 to 3 minutes for the Location Tracking indicator to disappear from the status line. I have found that (1) simply opening the Settings area will cause the status line to update or (2) rebooting the phone will also update the status line. Re: "Location tracking on" is back again
Thanks, Shai. That setting is still off, so that's not it. There are some interesting things under system services, a few of which are on, some of which I don't exactly know what turning them off would do. Something like Wi-Fi calling, which is currently off, or compass calibration which is currently on. Then there is something about cellular network search, which is also off. But there were a couple of others that I can't think of right now which are on. Maybe it's one of those. It definitely isn't an app like Facebook. I never let things like Facebook or Twitter or even Safari for that matter, see my location. Donna No. Turning off location services means no apps ever get location information. That is not the way to go if you have GPS apps for instants or other applications, maybe a local news application or whatever, that need your location. Even the weather app needs your location. This was something probably under privacy. Mary Sent from my iPhone On Aug 27, 2016, at 2:47 PM, rajmund wrote: Hi, turn off location services? Re: "Location tracking on" is back again
Already done. Before, when I have this problem and posted about it, I had already turned off location tracking for any app but didn't obviously need it. That left things like the weather app, my local news app, GPS apps. Most things don't get to have location services on. Oh, tune in radio and maybe another radio program which will show local stations Sent from my iPhone > On Aug 27, 2016, at 3:24 PM, Donna wrote: > > If you go to settings, privacy, location services you can turn off any of > your apps that you don't to use your location. > > Donna > >> No. Turning off location services means no apps ever get location >> information.
