2012-09-16 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, FWIW the code works for me over here as well. So, I'm not sure why
it's not working for some.

Just to be clear you have to dial the star then 639 then the pound then
press call.

No, the person who reported that the *639# code does not work is correct.

I wanted to be sure about my upgrade status, and get no message back after
entering the code.

I tried several times to no avail.

You have to be sure to enter *639# and be sure to put the * at the
bbeginning and the # at the end. I suspect you are not putting the #
at the end and that you are only dialing *639.

Hope this helps,

One other thing to consider is that the 16 gb models will sell out first
since they tend to be the more popular ones. At least this was the case
with the 4S when I was looking at getting it in October last year. So,
I'd be curious to see if the same trend happens with the 5 in that the
64 gb one is less of a wait than the 32 or 16 gb.

It worked for me, too. You do have to tap call as if you were calling. The

Re: *639#Re: A Tip for A T & T Wireless Customers Who Are Thinking About Upgrading to iPhone 5

2012-09-15 Thread Crystal French

Hi,
Yes, I absolutely entered the code correctly.

I finally called 611 and talked with an AT&T rep.

She suggested I try checking for minutes and balance, which I did, and those
went through correctly.

At least, I did get pricing information on plans, so it wasn't a waste of
time.

She did say they were dropping the 250 mb data plan and were going to 300
mb, with a $5.00 additional for that.

I don't have to have the iPhone 5 the day it comes out, so I think I will
check to see what other carriers may offer.

You have to be sure to enter *639# and be sure to put the * at the
bbeginning and the # at the end. I suspect you are not putting the #
at the end and that you are only dialing *639.

Hope this helps,

Hello Crystal,

I cannot speak as to why the code does not work for you but, after reading a
previous message stating that the code does not work, even though it works
just fine for me, I asked 5 other A T & T Wireless customers around the
country to enter the code and they all reported that it worked for them, as
well.

Re: A Tip for A T & T Wireless Customers Who Are Thinking About Upgrading to iPhone 5

2012-09-15 Thread Damashe Thomas
The phone is a very nice upgrade from models. I wasn't underwhelmed, but I
do admit to being slightly disappointed that apple wasn't able to keep
anything secret this time. Last year, siri on the 4S was something no one
knew was coming. This year however, it seems that just about leaked well in
advance of the event and it was mostly confirmation, and in some cases more
deatils. I just wanted to be surprised is all. Not being surprised by
anything doesn't deminish the excellent product apple has released, and I
will get one.

The only people who were underwhelmed were those who are chronic
complainers and whiners.
Just about everything on the new phone is improved but yet some still
insist it's not enough.
Ask them what they would want instead and mostly you hear the sound of
crickets.

Re: A Tip for A T & T Wireless Customers Who Are Thinking About Upgrading to iPhone 5

2012-09-14 Thread Wayne Merritt
For what it's worth, I've seen several references on Twitter tonight
that Apple sold out of the pre-orders for next week's phones within 60
minutes. I was able to pre-order mine over the phone with Apple
several hours ago, and it should be sent out within 2-3 weeks. Though
the wait is a little long, at least I'll be garanteed an iPhone 5,
unlike the many people I have a feeling who will show up the day it is
in stores and have to go back and forth to/from the store, or from
store to store, in order to find one in stock. It will be hard to
wait, but at least I can put iOS 6 on my iPhone 4 next week and start
playing with things a little.

Regards,
Wayne

A Tip for A T & T Wireless Customers Who Are Thinking About Upgrading to iPhone 5

2012-09-14 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

I went into the A T & T Wireless store a few hours ago to see if I am
eligible for an upgrade. Somehow I knew I wouldn't be but I just wanted to
confirm (Smile). Not that it matters as I have decided to purchase iPhone
5.

I was amazed at the fact that the store was jam-packed with customers.
While I no longer frequent the A T & T Wireless or Verizon Wireless stores
as much as I used to, I visit enough to have been truly surprised. There
was a waiting list to enter the store.

I asked the receptionist why the store was so busy and she said it was
because of all the people who are pre-ordering iPhone 5.

It would appear that not everyone was underwhelmed by Apple's keynote
presentation.

After leaving the store, I decided to go over to the Verizon Wireless store
and, it too, was jam-packed with people preordering.

All I can say is that there appears to be something magical about the
Apple-effect, as I have come to think of it.

By the way, I decided not to wait at the A T & T wireless store. The
receptionist reminded me that I can check to see if I am eligible for an
upgrade by doing the following from my iPhone:

1.
Open the Phone App.

2.
Switch to the Dial Pad.

3.
Dial *639#

4.
Tap the Call button. By the way, 6 3 9 spells the word NEW. You will
receive a text message stating your eligibility status.
