Hi there, you can do this with the Audible app if you have the book downloaded on both devices. This is because the Audible app will sync your position with Audible and it will be noted when you start listening on another device. So, NLS bard would have to do this to get what you want. Re: BARD BOOKS ON IPHONE
That's odd. I have an iPhone 4, an iPhone 5s and an iPad air. I haven't experienced anything like what you describe. I have the bard app on all my devices. I would love to see the ability to start reading a Talking Book on one device and pick up where I left off on another. Even if it means downloading the same book to each device. Still, it can be done by looking at the time such as 3 hours, 13 minutes, 43 seconds. Even with out that I love the bard app. Alan Sent from my iPad Air > On Feb 19, 2014, at 4:54 AM, Richard Ring wrote: > > In my case, the question would what book doesn’t do it! Well, it is good to know someone has seen this. I have seen it on a couple books. The most recent one is "Killing Jesus" by Bill O'Riley. It occurred between chapter 10 and 11. I am sorry to hear that the library is not more responsive. On Feb 15, 2014, at 7:21 PM, brian albriton wrote: > It would be good to know on which books this occurs. I think someone mentioned a few months ago this happening on books that were copied from audiocassette. I have had it occur on a couple of books. Hi, I have also experienced this problem. For me, it tends to happen when I move a long way backwards in a book. For example, if I fall asleep and the next day, I back up maybe 30 minutes or so to get back to where I was before falling asleep, it is likely that at some point while listening, the book will suddenly jump back to some where in the previous chapter. It is very frustrating and disconcerting. Re: BARD BOOKS ON IPHONE
I have experienced this problem. However, when I talk to an LS about it, they said they could not replicate it and thus would not be looking into it further. I found it entirely on an unhelpful and they disappointed me greatly. Re: BARD BOOKS ON IPHONE
I have had it happen a few times, but infrequently enough that I do not remember specifically the last incident. As was pointed out by another poster, it seems to happen more frequently with books that have been converted from cassette, when a track change announcement is given. But then, when I get to the point again, that track announcement is not announced, and the book doesn't skip back. This may be a hard bug for them to fix, being that it is very inconsistent. Plus, it has happened less frequently with books that were digital from the beginning. RE: BARD BOOKS ON IPHONE
This has never happened to me. It sounds like it may be an issue with one particular title. It is always a good idea to Email your local Regional Library when this happens and give them the title and approximately where in the book the issue comes up. They usually take care of this kind of thing fairly quickly. Re: BARD BOOKS ON IPHONE
I really wish that the Bard app would let you start listening to a talking book on your iPhone and let's say you came in the house and picked up your iPad and opened the bard app there and hit the play button and the book would start playing from where you left off on your iPhone. The only way I know how to do it is to have a copy of the same book on both devices and make note of the time when you hit the stop button such as 3 hours, 27 minutes. Then when you open the same book on another device you have to jump to that same exact same time. It's doable just a pain where you sit. Re: BARD BOOKS ON IPHONE
Denise, do you mean that during the same session, reading will suddenly jump back a few minutes, causing BARD to repeat text, or do you mean that when you open a new BARD session that the app will not remember where you left off and will repeat some material read during the previous session? I have never had the first problem but have sometimes had the second. I can't isolate the circumstances that cause BARD to forget where it has stopped reading during the last session. Hi all, I have noticed that while listening to a book from BARD on the iphone, the book will suddenly began repeating something that has already been read. As a matter of fact, it will be several minutes. Is this a BARD issue or the way the book is formatted? thanks. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group.
