Thanks for that info. 

Refreshing the app store did the job.

I only updated from 10.3.3, to the latest version a couple of weeks ago, and i 
didn’t know you had to do this refreshing the app store thing.

I didn’t get it. but i received the notification, saying it was available.

I am in the UK, and have received other updates, also my friend, who is in 
australia, didn’t get the update too.

I have Emailed the be my eyes Developers, to see what is going on.

Interesting upgrade to the Be My Eyes app/service

I have received an email from Be My Eyes in which they announce a new button in 
the app which let's you connect to companies directly for specialized help with 
their products or services. Obviously this is a work in progress and we have to 
see how many companies get on board, but apparently the first one to join is 
Microsoft so that you can now contact Microsoft Accessibility support directly 
via the Be My Eyes app to show the agent what is on your computer screen. Yes, 
they can connect to your computer, but you might be in a pickel where you don't 
have speech and hence can't do what it takes to connect them. With Be My Eyes 
you can get them to look at your screen and maybe direct you to do something 
that helps, interesting concept anyways. Here is the email:

I have used Be My Eyes with good success.  I tried to use them only when all 
other apps have not gotten me the information I need.  There have been a few 
times when it takes some time to connect.  If I remember correctly, someone in 
the know said that if you don’t get a connection within 3 or so minutes you 
should log off and re-connect.  I’ve gotten the help I needed each time I used 
the app. Cudos to those volunteers!

The best tip I can give you is patience.  I used the App the other day, and
when I tried the first time, no one connected.  I tried again a few minutes
later and someone connected and assisted me.  I have had success with this
app, but remember, the sighted people who are helping are volunteers, and
you may have to wait to connect or keep trying until you do connect.

I used it about 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning.  I had a minor surgical
procedure preformed the previous day.  I awoke in pain and no one was
at home and there was no one I could ask locally, given the time.  I
had pain medicine, but was not sure if I had the right bottle and how
many pills to take.  I tried the app and after a few minutes, a woman
answered. She seemed to have a middle eastern accent. She didn't seem
to want to read me the label on my pill bottle though  and quickly
disconnected.  I tried again and within a minute a woman with a German
accent answered.  It was mid-morning in Europe. she instructed me on
how to position the camera and pill bottle so she could read it.
Apparently, the pill bottle must be rotated in one hand while the
camera is kept straight and without movement in the other hand so the
camera does not get out of focus. she did not know how to pronounce
acetaminophen, the generic name for Tylenol, or codeine.  she
apologized for her English skills, but many native English speakers
can't pronounce these names either.  She did tell me though how many
pills to take before signing off in personal embarrassment.  she took
time out of her life to provide valuable help at a time of need, for
which I am grateful.  I wonder if others have had volunteers who could
be helpful but had a low confidence in their skills.

fortunately, I live in a big city and both a 24 hour CVS and
Walgreen's are a half mile walk from my house and across the street
from each other.  It would be a real hassle to put on clothes and walk
to one of these stores for a sighted clerk to read a label on a pill
bottle in the middle of the night though.

In the past couple of weeks, I have used the app. Here are some problems I have 
encountered, but eventually received the assistance I was requesting.

1. Connecting to a helper took too long. I disconnected and reconnected again 
and was successful.
2. The helper couldn't see the object in question because it was not clear 
enough. I disconnected, cleaned the lens of the phone's camera and reconnected. 
This did the trick.
3. On the first attempt to connect to a helper, I was disconnected within a 
second or two. This was after waiting a few minutes to get connected in the 
first place.
4. And yes, I have been connected to individuals who's English has been 
marginal and difficult to understand. At times, they have had a hard time 
pronouncing hard words, which could happen to anyone. What I don't understand 
is that there are a substantial amount of helpers to those of us who are 
requesting assistance and it would be nice to be connected to individuals in a 
similar geographic area. There have been times when an individual will state 
that I'm there first person that they are helping. I would think there is a way 
to filter the individuals in order of geographical areas to decrease the 
frustrations in getting assistance for us who are seeking it. JMO.
