Not aware of this… Could you explain a bit more about how Alexa Assistant can 
do this and what is necessary to purchase for this to be accomplished? Thanks.

Youversion is very good, also for just straight up listening, try
bible.is.  That is a very good app and I use it all the time.

The bible ap from life church as someone else sujested earlier is free and 
several of hte verssions  are audio inabled.  I know form experience the 
N.I.V. has audio, the message has audio.  I'm sure ohters are as well when 
you're going through  the verssion list it'll say audio inabbled. if it has 
audio verssions.

You get the app for free but need to buy the audio version of the bible if
you want that. You can buy just the old or new testament if that is all you
want. The text version of the New King James bible is free. You can also
get what they call a study bible which you can purchase. It has notes and
things. There are also bible plans and other free resources available in
the app. It all works fine with Voiceover.

After downloading and trying these apps, I recommend them:  Spoken Word Old 
Testament and Spoken Word New Testament are 2 separate apps.  They are fairly 
large downloads, so get them using iTunes.  The Bible used is one of the 
revised versions, but I don't remember which one.  The Bible is read by humans, 
so is not machinelike or robotic, nor is it your iPhone's voice.  Although it 
is not necessary to pay for the inApp purchases, they are $1.99 and you must 
buy one for each app.  Included in the purchase are enhancements that allow 
searching by book, chapter, and voice, a sleep timer up to 2 hours, speed 
adjustment without changing the pitch, and other features.  For more info and 
to get these apps, do a search using iTunes for spoken word, without the 
quotation marks, of course.  I think this is a really nice set of apps.

I have an Iphone 5 which I got last week. The sim card is installed and I have 
Voiceover and Siri turned on. So now I just need to learn to operate my phone. 
I am glad to hear that there is a Bible app available. Does it have different 
versions? Or do you just choose the one you prefer? I would be happy to talk to

Another handy tip, for those who are using iOS 7, if you tap the screen four 
times with three fingers your phone will copy to the pasteboard the last thing 
that voice over said. Try it!

Selecting and using text in Bible apps

Hi to users of any of the Bible apps around)

I have been very saddened recently to discover that I am unable to select Bible 
text to send in email etc., with the exception of Daily Verses shown on these 
apps.

I have used The Bible app, which used to be most popular, You Bible; I've also 
used various versions of the Bible Gateway and have noted they're showing text 
on a very small part of the screens with no way to select even one verse of my 
choosing.

Am I missing something? Does anyone know if this can still be done with some 
sight?

Finally, are there any other apps out there that still allow portions of text 
to be selected and used with the iPhone?

Carol,
I have an iPhone 5 and use YouVersion as one of my Bible apps. I can
still selelct text for email or whatever. I double tap on the word of
the verse and not the verse number. So for instance, John 1:1 you will
see the number one on a line. Then you swipe to the right, and the
Scripture will begin reading. That's where I double-tap with one
finger. This allows me to select the verse(s) Let me know if this is
helpful.

Hi,
I use Bible Gateway. It works well on my iPhone 5. You will need to have 
internet connectivity though, because it pulls info from the Bible Gateway site 
as needed. It isn't data intensive, however, and should work well for most 
people and their data plans.

I have the Bible app as well and use it on the iPhone 5. However, the
Menu portion does not work well with Voiceover. As of now, it is hard
to choose between Notes, Bible, Today, Plans, etc. But if you just
want to locate and read Scriptures, share on Facebook and Twitter,
make some notes about it and the like, this is easily done.

Yes, a friend told me about that, but when I just search for bible in the
app store, I come up with dozens! Lol. I'm trying to find that specific one
but I've searched many combinations of words and can't find it specifically.

The app refered to is the first one when you do a search for Bible.

it will do what you want. It is a good app and resource. Check out
their web site to set up an account and choose bible studies if
interested.

I've heard that some of the features of that app don't work well with VoiceOver 
on the iPhone 5. You might want to check out AppleVis's Bible app entry to

HI.  Oh no that would be terrible if it doesn't work well with the iphone 5.  i 
have a 4 s at the moment and the bible app works really well and I pretty much 
use it exclusively.  Is there anything else out there that offers all the 
translations and reading plans for when I upgrade?
