Re: How to solve an issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards not working

2014-10-08 Thread Ein
Thanks for posting this info. I have found this post lately, and let me
reply normal keyboard version again. I think this issue should be addressed
in next iOS update, but until then, this is a handy partial solution.

Re: [Bulk] RE: Fwd: How to solve an issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards not working

2014-09-28 Thread Teresa Cochran
Yes, there are quirks. It's best to type in a text field with QuickNav off. You
can toggle it by pressing the two side arrow keys simultaneously on the
keyboard. If you use a Braille display, turning QuickNav off doesn't seem to
affect any of its functions.

Dear our valued RiVO customers,

We have found a small but serious issue in iOS 8.0 which could make any
Bluetooth keyboards including RiVO not working. If you suffer from the
issue, please read on. You may read the text in this email or follow the
link to read it from web browser.

RiVO Troubleshooting tip: An
http://mobience.com/rivo/rivo_ios_troubleshooting_en.html#iOS8_keyboard_not
_working issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards not working

There is a small bug in iOS 8.0, which makes all the Bluetooth keyboards
including RiVO not working for VoiceOver except a few functions. We have
found a way to cope with it although not a neat one. Once the problem
disappears, however, it doesn't appear again unless you change the iPhone
Language in Settings, General, Language Region. To make the problem
disappear from your iPhone, follow the steps below:

a. If you use just one software keyboard in iPhone, temporarily add another
in Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards, Add New Keyboard. You may add
arbitrary one.

RE: How to solve an issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards not working

2014-09-22 Thread Mary-Jo Lord
Hi,

I don't have a RiVo keyboard. I have an Apple keyboard and a Braille Pen
12. I don't have keys beginning with the letter l with numbers after them
for any of those commands. Am I to assume that I should just add another
software keyboard and cycle through them with the on screen keyboard and
that would solve the problem?

Thanks to Cheryl for forwarding this.
If you do not have the RiVO keyboard, just use the on screen keyboard and
double-tap and hold on the next keyboard button to the right of the
numbers button in the lower left of the screen.
Once you have added the extra software keyboard and gone through the steps
below, at least for me and at least one other person, the bluetooth keyboard
is working again, which is what I am writing this message on.
Thanks to the RiVo team for figuring this out. Perhaps Apple should hire

You may add
arbitrary one.

b. Open the Notes app.

c. Create a new note.

d. Hold down L1 and press B7 to turn off the quick navigation option.

I am experiencing the same problem. The easiest fix for now is to turn voice
over off while you type the message. When you finish, turn it on and read it
back. Can't come up with anything better for now. One thing for sure, you can
type faster because the keys are more responsive with voice over off.

Somewhere in this thread I posted more general instructions. You basically use
your software keyboard for all the Rivo instructions except toggling QkNav,
which you do by pressing the left and right-arrow keys on the Bluetooth
keyboard simultaneously.

 Dear our valued RiVO customers,

We have found a small but serious issue in iOS 8.0 which could make any

RiVO Troubleshooting tip: An issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards
 not working

There is a small bug in iOS 8.0, which makes all the Bluetooth keyboards
including RiVO not working for VoiceOver except a few functions. We have
found a way to cope with it although not a neat one. Once the problem
disappears, however, it doesn't appear again unless you change the iPhone
Language in Settings, General, Language Region. To make the problem
disappear from your iPhone, follow the steps below:

 a. If you use just one software keyboard in iPhone, temporarily add another
in Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards, Add New Keyboard. You may add
 arbitrary one.

 b. Open the Notes app.

 c. Create a new note.

 d. Hold down L1 and press B7 to turn off the quick navigation option.

 e. Press L3 to turn RiVO into typing mode.

 f. Hold down L1 and press L3 a few times to cycle through the list of
 software keyboards.

 g. Hold down L1 and press B7 to turn on the quick navigation option.

 h. Now RiVO should work fine. If you want, you may delete the software
keyboard temporarily added at Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards.

 Thanks.

YOu can actually do all this with no keyboard attached at all. Just ad
a software keyboard in settings, open the NOtes app for example and
start a new note so you'll have an edit field, change to that new
keyboard using the control near the spacebar at the bottom of the
screen change back to your old keyboard and you're done. You can do
this using your keyboard or you can simply do it on the phone screen
as I did with no keyboard.
It doesn't solve every problem, but it does allow you to use VO
outside quick nav and seems to have reduced the crashing at least for
me.

Well it has broken for me in two days. I think the problem is when the
device initializes. Once it's reset, it seems to stick. There's still
a bug of course, but tis reduces part of the problem on every device

2014-09-22 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
That's too bad! Just in case you did not think of it, make sure quicknav is off
by pressing left and right arrows together.

How about trying a reset with home and screen-lock buttons?
I know you probably tried this but just making sure.
Good luck!

screen change back to your old keyboard and you're done. You can do
this using your keyboard or you can simply do it on the phone screen

It doesn't solve every problem, but it does allow you to use VO

Go to settings, general, keyboard, add keyboard. Pick any keyboard and add
it. Go into the notes app (or any text field.) Turn quicknav off by pressing
left and right-arrow keys at the same time. Find the keyboard key on your touch
scrreen next to the space ba and cycle between the default keyboard and the one
you added. At this point, you can turn quicknav back on and you can also remove
the keyboard you added at this point. Just be sure not to change the language
setting in settings, and this will work.

 Hi, Cheryl,

What is the equivalent of Step f in the instructions, in which you cycle
through your available keyboards once you've added one? How do you do this on a
full keyboard? It doesn't seem like you'd push the keyboards button on the
on-screen keyboard.

Can someone please explain the way this is supposed to work? I do not

 Dear our valued RiVO customers,

We have found a small but serious issue in iOS 8.0 which could make any
Bluetooth keyboards including RiVO not working. If you suffer from the
issue, please read on. You may read the text in this email or follow the
link to read it from web browser.

RiVO Troubleshooting tip: An issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth
 keyboards not working

 Thanks.

I Guess for other standard keyboards it's worth adding an extra language if not
already there and using command plus space bar to cycle through them. I did not
really have bt keyboard problems other than having to turn off quicknav for
typing so not sure if it will help others.

Good luck!

Re: How to solve an issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards not working

2014-09-21 Thread Teresa Cochran
Go to settings, general, keyboard, add keyboard. Pick any keyboard and add it.
Go into the notes app (or any text field.) Turn quicknav off by pressing left
and right-arrow keys at the same time. Find the keyboard key on your touch
scrreen next to the space ba and cycle between the default keyboard and the one
you added. At this point, you can turn quicknav back on and you can also remove
the keyboard you added at this point. Just be sure not to change the language
setting in settings, and this will work.

Re: Bluetooth keyboards not working

2014-04-08 Thread ROBERT CARTER
Hi,

Bluetooth keyboards definitely work with iOS 7.1. I use mine every day. There
is a bug when in an edit box, if you press the control key by itself to stop
speech, you have to then press and release both the control and option keys
together to get the keyboard functioning properly again. The simplest
workaround is not to use the control key by itself in an edit field.

Unfortunately, before this bug was understood, it was thought that bluetooth
keyboards did not work. This is not true.

RE: Bluetooth keyboards not working

2014-04-07 Thread Frank Ventura
Tried this a few times with no success. Below is the text of the response I got
from Apple:

  Hello,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We continue to investigate the
issue, but in the meantime, there is a potential workaround you may want to try:

When you find that the keyboard is not entering any characters, try using
Control+Option+Right then Left arrow to move away from the field and then back
again. If that does not work, please do this two times in a row
(Control+Option+Right then Left arrow+Right then Left arrow). While this will
not necessarily keep the keyboard from entering this state again, it should
clear the state each time.

If you continue to have issues, please let us know.
