I press Hold and Accept. I thought maybe I lost them after leaving the second

Subject: how to switch to a call waiting call

Hi one time I was on A call and then another call came in.

Had to switch over to the second call and it disconnected the first call.

So what is the best way to have the first caller wait and still be on the line
after you switch over to the second call and then go back to the first call
after you are done with the second call?

Yes, the issue is I think if you use the two finger double tap to answer the
second call, it hangs up the first.
So, one finger double tap on the accept and hold button works.

Call waiting sound interrupts call iPhone iOS 13.7

2020-09-30 Thread Shai
Hello all,
On my iPhone8+ running iOS 13.7 when a call comes in the beep of the
call is distracting enough to interrupt the call I am on arriving in
louder than the caller who I am speaking to. This is when the phone is
to my ear.
Other than turning down the volume on my phone, is there a means by
which I can resolve this issue? I have had issues with the phone
carrier where the volume of a call is too low. I contacted them and in
that case they alerted me that a tower problem existed and that they
had been working to turn the volume back up. Now, the volume of the
caller is just right but call waiting beep is too loud when it comes
in. They have said that this can not be turned down and the rep
recommended that I turn off call waiting in phone settings to resolve
this issue or update to iOS 14.
Thank you in advance for any responses.

Yes, hold and mute are a little harder in that you have to hide the keypad to
get to those. Even in iOS 8.4 for me, Voiceover goes to the low quality mode on
my iPhone 6, so that fix must be in a later batch of 6's or something.

Hello Matthew, on the iPhone switching causes a breeze. When a call comes in
obviously you have the hold in except button, you can double tap that and it
will take you to the next caller. When switching back and forth, if you hide
the key pad there is a swamp button. He will use this button to go from call to
call. I hope this works for you.

Then do I have to flick through, or can I simply two finger double tap to
switch calls, and again to switch back? Primarily I will be conversing on a
bluetooth headset, so I may just be able to click a button on that headset to
accomplish this, but I thought I'd ask now, before the situation comes up. I
know that if the phone is at your ear and you click the power button the phone
will hang up, but will this then activate the other call and back again?

Thanks,

Matthew

Matthew, I find the easiest way is to use a blue tooth. On every headset I
have, I can just press the button, and go back and fourth from call to call.

Dealing with a call waiting call from FaceTime is just as easy as dealing with

as easy as dealing with call waiting from a regular phone call! When someone
else calls you when you’re on FaceTime, you have three options: End & Accept or
Decline. Some users may also have the option to Hold & Accept.

Decline refuses the incoming call and takes you back to
your FaceTime conversation. End & Accept ends your current FaceTime call and
accepts the call waiting. Hold & Accept puts your current call on hold so you
can return to it when you're finished with your new conversation. It's that
simple!

Hi all,
I am using IOS 8.1 on an iPhone5s and am noticing that caller ID is not
announced if one receives a call waiting call even if the speak notifications
setting is turned on for VoiceOver. Before, I remember it being announced. Has
anyone noticed this and found a work around?
Thanks in advance for any responses

Caller ID call waiting announcement IOS 8.1

2014-10-26 Thread Shai
Hi all,
I am using IOS 8.1 on an iPhone5s and am noticing that caller ID is
not announced if one receives a call waiting call even if the speak
notifications setting is turned on for VoiceOver. Before, I remember
it being announced. Has anyone noticed this and found a work around?
Thanks in advance for any responses

Re: answering call waiting, and 3 way calling?

2013-10-09 Thread Robert Doc Wright
It should take you to your contact list while the other call is on hold. Don't
forget to remind your caller that you are adding someone so that they don't
think you hung up on them.

I just do a 2-finger double tap and to end the tabs are at the bottom. For
3way you'll have to hide the keypad and you should see "add call".

Re: call waiting

2013-02-17 Thread Alan Paganelli
I have the ubiquitous double tap to answer kind of Bluetooth ear peace. I have
never found a way to place one person on hold and answer the incoming call just
using the ear peace so if you know how, please give step by step instructions
for this aging brain.

If you're wearing a headset, as long as it is a headset with the microphone
and remote, You can use the middle of the switch just to go between the calls.
In other words, you can answer the second call, then hang up with the switch
and you'll go back to the first call. Sometimes, you have to look for the hold
button and double tap when you go back to the first call, as it will still be
on hold.

Re: call waiting

2013-02-16 Thread Marcy Weinberg
It doesn't matter if you're answering the second call from the headset. If you
do not have the headset plugged in, you need to hide the keypad so you can find
a hold and the answer call button.

Hello,

Must the keypad be hidden when answering a second call or does it
matter?

Ezzie Bueno

- Original Message -
From: "Beverly" Patti, you have to either have your headset plugged in or pull
the phone away from your ear. In either case, swipe to the right
until you hear hold and answer call. Double tap on that. This
puts the first call on hold and allows you to answer the second
line. After the call finishes swipe to the right again until you
hear hold selected, double tap on that and you should be back
with the first call.

Re: call waiting

2013-02-16 Thread Marcy Weinberg
If you're wearing a headset, as long as it is a headset with the microphone and
remote, You can use the middle of the switch just to go between the calls. In
other words, you can answer the second call, then hang up with the switch and
you'll go back to the first call. Sometimes, you have to look for the hold
button and double tap when you go back to the first call, as it will still be
on hold.

Call Waiting instructions-was Re: contacts, ring tones, favorites and voice mail

2013-01-21 Thread Sherrie
I keep a file of info that I might find useful for future reference and here
is an email I saved from someone on the list about answering a second call
when you are already on the phone.
It might be a good idea to ask your questions in separate emails since
they are so numerous.

Here are the instructions I saved about call waiting:

If you are using a headset this is extremely easy, if you are on a call and
another call comes in just press the Play./Pause/Talk/Hangup button on the
headset remote. This will automatically put the first caller on hold and
answer the second call. When you are done with the second call you can press
it again to go back to the first. I believe that if you wait until the
second caller hangs up the phone will automatically switch back to the first
call as well.

Now, without a headset this a bit more tricky. Actually switching to the
second call and putting the first caller on hold is relatively easy, it is
getting the first caller back that is not as easy. First you have to make
sure that your Voiceover volume is reasonably high so you can hear Voiceover
during the call. Now, when another person calls, tell the first caller to
hold, then take your phone away from your ear and wait a second or two to
give the proximity sensor time to switch to speakerphone otherwise you can’t
hear Voiceover. Now touch the bottom left of the screen, Voiceover will say
“Hold Call + Answer”. If you touch the right side at the botton it is “End
Call + Answer” which of course answers the second call, but it disconnects
the first caller. It is quite easy to find these buttons, the Hold + Answer
is more or less from the left edge of the screen to the Home Key and the End
Call + Answer is from the Home key to the right side of the screen.

Now, once you are done with the second caller you have to once again take
your phone away from your ear, it is easiest to just wait a bit until the
other person hangs up, then further up on the screen you find a Hold Button
which I believe Voiceover announces as selected. Double tap it and you
should get the first caller back.

The best way to practice this is if you get together with a couple of
friends or family members, ask one to call you and then a second person. If
you have a landline and Skype with Skype credit you could do it yourself by
first calling your cell phone from the landline, pick up the call, then call
your cell phone with Skype.

Hi all,

I have a few more questions. I have 83 contacts in my phone. I noticed
that
the heading in my contacts for example start with a capital A meaning that
all my contacts starting with the letter a would be under the capital A's
and so on with each capital letter in the heading going all the way down
through my contacts. I this supposed to be like this?

Also, in my contacts I want to put certain ring tones with certain
contacts.
I want through the different ring tones that were in my phone and there's
only a couple that I would use and the rest I don't care for. So this
question will be a two part question. Here's the first part of my
question.
How do I put certain ring tones with certain contacts? Also, can I have
music a ring tone when someone calls my phone and how do I go about doing
that. I want to have a country music ring tone on my phone when someone
calls my phone?

Also if I'm talking on my phone and someone calls in on my phone while I'm
already talking to someone, how do I put the person I'm talking to on hold
so I can answer the other line? And Ihow do I answer the other line? What
are the step by step directions to do this?

A couple more questions and then I will shut up for now. What is favorites
in my phone? Also if someone leaves me voice mail on my phone how do I go
in
and retrieve my voice mail and listen to it? Then how do you delete it to
get rid of it? Also in recent how do you get rid of the incoming calls that
came in and all the out going calls going out, how do you clear everything
out or delete it? Thanks for answering all of my questions for me. Take
care.

headset remote.

Now, when another person calls, tell the first caller to
hold, then take your phone away from your ear and wait a second or two to
give the proximity sensor time to switch to speakerphone otherwise you can't
hear Voiceover. Now touch the bottom left of the screen, Voiceover will say
"Hold Call + Answer". If you touch the right side at the botton it is "End
Call + Answer" which of course answers the second call, but it disconnects
the first caller.

I more often than not use the headphones especially if I am walking around
or if I am making several calls or longer calls. It's just a lot more
comfortable and easy.

Hope this helps a bit. You can of course practice this and I very much
encourage you to do so in order to become comfortable and quick. It is
easiest if you have a couple of friends over and just ask them to call you
one at a time and give it a try. I also practiced this deliberately a few
times because I was sick and tired of either not being able to switch fast
enough or of hanging up on the original caller because I couldn't figure out
how to get back to them.

Take care,

Sieghard

I am curious, many of these “tidbits and morsels of iPhone wisdom-ree” are
wonderful to receive in various e-mails; but there must be a tutorial somewhere
with all of the various gestures listed. Can anybody confirm or definitely
deny the existence of such?
