Oh my goodness. I had just gotten used to the last FB update that still had the tabs at the bottom. I rely on Facebook to stay connected with family and friends. So I won't update unless somebody can tell me if some of the APPS out there that used to exist to work with Facebook still do. There used to be an APP I think called Friendly that worked with it. I have seen that, I’ve also noticed that focus changes when I read one post, swipe to the right to read another, and the focus goes back to the post I just read, and sometimes the previous post opens when I’ve specifically double tapped on a different post. Hi, The notifications are fixed, and can be accessed. This was broken in the last update but it is fixed now. Double tap the “Notifications” button. then, find where the word “Notifications” is on screen close to the top. Then, do a two-finger double tap on that, and the notifications will come up. Hi, i'm running the latest facebook app with voiceover on iphone6+ and IOS8.1. The only problem i have with the new update is that it seems like the app does not open the external link like what it used to before the update, nor it gives any 'open with' option. On another note, for those that use the Messenger app, with the latest update, for some reason, voiceover keeps reading one payment attached after each message. Yes, I have had this problem for a little while now. It makes it pretty unusable, but I keep going back to it and trying it again because I love it so much! Hey Yes it does the first time you meet again with fb but when you close the app and reopen the second time, the crashing is still there. Mine doesn't crash, but I do wish it showed me a bit more of my news feed when I go into more and most recent. I'm experiencing a similar problem on my iPhone 5 with the latest iOS.I have noticed that if I close the app from the apps which are and reloaded it will sometimes read the newsfeed correctly. Hi, I avoid FB anyway on principal, however, I do have it and for the last several versions FB on my iPhone 5S has been annoying me by telling me I have 75 or more notifications. This is not unusual since I rarely check FB or update my status on FB. I will go there and go to notifications and then it will say zero or 11 and then 0. Then five minutes later it will be back to the original 75 so I have learned to just ignore FB completely unless I want to read it which is maybe once or twice a month, laughs! At most! Hi all There is a simple way to avoid these accessibility problems but for most of you it is too late. Go to settings/itunes and appstore and put the update button for apps off instead of on. You can stil do updates manually in the appstore on the update screen. It has been 5 or 6 times now in the last half year that with updating the fb app there have become serious problems in the accessibility issues with voiceover. Don’t complain with Apple for this, this is a facebook problem. I am working with a fine fb app. Some blind chaps blame me being an extremely defensive iPhone user while I’m still using ios 7.12 and often not doing normal app updates. Why should one update things that work just great without any accessibility problems? I personally like getting updates automatically as I tend not to remember to bother for ages if I don't; :) and I'm not reliant on most of my apps if they don't work properly for a while; I've seen improvements in Facebook over the past year. Apparently, Facebook submitted a corrupted cover art image with the app and the Apple servers are not happy about it. Am I The Only One Having Trouble with the Latest Native Facebook App Update: Repeat Inquiry
I posted about this Thursday, but unless I missed the posts, there has been no response: There was a Facebook update on October 17. Since that time, whenever I try to use the app on my iPhone 5, it dumps me out after a few seconds. The app switcher says it is still running; I go back in, and the same thing occurs. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I have tried powering my phone off and on. I have tried syncing with iTunes. I have left a message with Facebook through Report a Problem. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, has anyone found a solution until it is fixed . . . if it is fixed? Facely HD is no longer user-friendly, and Echofon for Facebook is cumbersome and not handy for what I need to do on Facebook. Any other options if the Facebook app is not going to work? TIA. You also can't change your cover photo that I know of. I only know this because a sighted friend tried to do this for me. We could change the profile pic but not the cover one and it doesn't read all your photos that I know of. It's still a good app though. All, There is a new version of the Facebook app in the App Store. I installed it a bit ago, and continue to be ecstatic with its progress. When I double a status I can now see the people who like it without fiddling. I could get this information on the prior version, but it required an extra step. I can now also tag in my FB status in the same way I do it on the computer version. I type: @name and the list of friends matching my typing appears below the edit box. I double tap the correct friend I want to tag, and it works nice as I could please. I am sure there is more, but I had to put out the word. A much better voiceover user experience than earlier versions. The one thing that still bugs me is that depending on the app I'm using though some news feed entries are not displayed. Either by friends or pages I like, etc. I mention this only because one would figure that it wouldn't be the case on the actual Facebook app, but I do find that entries don't show up and refreshing (three finger swipe down) doesn't always reliably work. The other feature that I actually prefer in the Voicebook app as opposed to the FB and other third party FB apps is the ability to cycle through comments with a one finger swipe up or down as instead of going line by line and always having to click on the view next or previous comments button.
