Re: Follow-up about serious VoiceOver bug in iOS 8.4

2015-07-04 Thread Craig Werner
Hello,Mark and everyone.

With the font text size slider set to 50% and Reduce Motion set to
on, I'm still getting skipping. My network is ATT, and I'm using
an iPhone 5 running iOS 8.3. A good example of this is the report
spam button in the Gmail app. The only way to find this item is by a
careful review of the screen. I realize this is not a native app,but
I'm wondering if some buttons and functions are programmed differently
and are hence not showing up via VoiceOver. Unfortunately, I can't
verify the presence of the visual display cursor Mark noted.

I am experiencing this problem on my ipone 6 on ATT, running IOS 8.4, font
normal, no zoom, motion reduced. In the Twitter app it will sometimes skip a
message or two, and sometimes large chhunks of messages, it's hard to tell
how many exactly. It's also doing this in the Facebook app, and in Mail, so
it doesn't seem a particular app problem.

I have noticed this behavior as well. As an example, if I am in the
index of messages using the native Mail app, and if the first in the
list has already been read, a right flick may bring me to the second
message in the list as if the first were not there. The solution, as
others have recommended, is to touch the screen rather than swipe or
 flick.

I have also noticed it in other apps, like Facebook, in notifications, when you
start swiping through your notifications, it will skip the first one like it is
not even there. So it is not a bug with a particular app, but a voice over bug

We all just need to make sure that we report it to apple accessibility and hope

RE: Follow-up about serious VoiceOver bug in iOS 8.4

2015-07-03 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Craig and All,

I have been following this thread and can confidently say that I am not
experiencing this particular VoiceOver issue.

I have attempted to recreate this problem on two 6 Plus phones running iOS 8.4,
to no avail.

I would ask all of you experiencing this issue to confirm that you have your
display font size set to normal and to turn off zoom mode, if, in fact, you
have it turned on.

Also, please enable the Reduce Motion feature.

Finally, restart the phone, after having cleared/closed all open apps.

See if this makes a difference.

If you continue to experience this issue after having made the adjustments,
described above, I would be interested in learning which wireless provider you
use.

The two carriers on which I tested this issue are A T T Wireless and Sprint.

Good Luck,

Mark

I have noticed this behavior as well. As an example, if I am in the index of
messages using the native Mail app, and if the first in the list has already
been read, a right flick may bring me to the second message in the list as if
the first were not there. The solution, as others have recommended, is to touch
the screen rather than swipe or flick.

Sorry to be that person, but I haven't been experiencing this, and I've been on
iOS 8.3 for a while, and iOS 8.4 for about three days now. Everything seems to
be working fine, at least in Mail. I haven't opened up Twitterrific in a while,
so I'll have to go see if it's happening there.

I am not seeing it myself in 8.4, and I don't recall anyone else talking
about it before the 8.4 release. I'd strongly suggest reporting it to
Apple accessibility though. There may be a 8.4.1 before September, and
even if there isn't, you don't want to assume someone else has already
reported it and therefore it'll get fixed in IOS 9. It's not that hard
to report it, and the more people who do, the more likely it is that
it'll be fixed in the next version of IOS.

some items are missed by VoiceOver. It turns out that this problem is
appearing in many more places, including Email messages. I've discovered
that often, when using a swipe right or swipe left to move through a message
in Mail, or even when doing a two-finger swipe up to read the entire
message, some entire paragraphs can be skipped. The only way to tell that
this is happening is by reviewing the message multiple times to look for
 missed text.

I've never seen anything quite like this, and I'm wondering if others are
finding this as serious as I am. I'm wondering whether to try to erase my
device and start from scratch, which I'd just as soon avoid, or whether this
is simply a VO bug in iOS 8.4 that has to be worked around.

 Thanks all.

 Grant

Re: Follow-up about serious VoiceOver bug in iOS 8.4

2015-07-02 Thread Shaf

It's a bug - I can confirm.
However there's no use reporting it to Apple as it may be fixed in the
final version of iOS 9.
If you can, downgrade if it's too much of an issue and if Apple still
allows for it.

Re: Follow-up about serious VoiceOver bug in iOS 8.4

2015-07-02 Thread Chris Chaffin
As other people said when you previously asked about this, I also have had this
problem since ios 8 came out last September. And I have experienced this on
both an iphone 5, and an iphone 6.
So it is not specifically an ios 8.4 bug. It is more of an ios 8 bug that has
not yet been fixed.

If you have already tried a hard reset by holding down the home and power
buttons, the only other thing you can try that I know of is a restore from a
backup, but since the bug does exist, there is not really nothing that you can
do to make it go totally away.
Hopefully it will be fixed in ios 9 in the fall.

Chris
