Re: Iphone watch

2018-10-15 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi Jeremy,

You get all bands off the same way. There's a small button on the back of the
watch in the middle of the place where the band joins the watch. Push in on it,
and slide the band out of the slot.

To turn off the watch, hold in the side button for a few seconds, until the
watch vibrates. Then double-tap Power Off.

HTH,
Anna

Iphone watch

2018-10-15 Thread Jeremy Gilley
Hello all,

I just got my new series 4 today.

Needing some help.

It came with 2 bands. the original and the one I wanted.

In my excitement, I put the wrong band on.

I was able to get one side off, but can't figure how to get the other side
off.

Help please?

Also, I tapped on power off, but it won't shut off and its driving me nuts
lol.

Again, any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Alerts, iPhone & Watch

2016-01-20 Thread Chris Chaffin
Hello Traci, I think you are understanding it correctly.
It kind of says the same thing in the notification part in the watch app on
your phone.

I am like you, I wish we had more control over this, especially since we are
not able to change the alert sound or anything like that for notifications on
the watch.
I am thinking they will expand on notifications on the watch at some time, and
until then, I will make sure that I give Apple my feedback and request that
this feature be added.

Hi,

You can add Battery as a complication on your watch face. You can also add
Batteries to the Today screen on your iPHone; this shows both your watch and
iPhone battery status.

Re: Alerts, iPhone & Watch

2016-01-20 Thread Traci
As far as I can figure, I have tweaked all the settings in various ways, with
the same result. Vibration alert on my watch, no sound on my phone. I'm
beginning to think this is normal behavior. Is this the way it works for others?

Since my Apple Watch is brand-new, can I call Apple support?

Thank you,

Hi,

On a watch, all the features that don’t tell time like calendars, compass, etc
are called complications. It actually makes sence to call the things you add to
your watch face complications.

2016-01-20 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi Traci and John,

What's always happened for me is that either I'm alerted by the watch or the
phone of a notification. If I'm notified on the phone, the sound plays. If I'm
notified on the watch, there's a vibration and, if sounds are on, there's a
sound. I don't know of any way to get alerted to a notification in both places.

Best,
Anna

  Hi,

You can add Battery as a complication on your watch face. You can also add
Batteries to the Today screen on your iPHone; this shows both your watch and
iPhone battery status.

  Best,
  Anna

Hello Anna
Thanks, I purchased the book through paypal and downloaded it. Now for my
ignorance, I notice that it is an epub book, so can you please suggest which
software does one use to read it? I may just addthat I downloaded it onto my PC.
Kind Regards

Re: Alerts, iPhone & Watch

2016-01-20 Thread Traci Duncan
Ok, I had a chat session with Apple. He was not sure what was the correct
behavior for notifications, but he did seem surprise that I wasn’t receiving
alert tones on my iPhone.

Here is what I have found on Apple’s support knowledge base.

We'll send notifications to the device that you're using, so you can see them
as soon as possible.
If your iPhone is unlocked, you get notifications on your iPhone, instead of
your Apple Watch.
If your iPhone is locked or asleep, and your Apple Watch is unlocked and on
your wrist, you get notifications on your Apple Watch.
** If I understand this correctly, then we cannot receive alert tones
notifications on our phone while the watch is on our wrist.**
When your Apple Watch locks or you turn on Do Not Disturb, your notifications
go to your iPhone instead of your watch.
You’ll see on your watch face when your Apple Watch locks. If your Apple Watch
has a passcode, it locks automatically when you aren't wearing it, when it
loses contact with your skin <https://support.apple.com/kb/HT204665>, or while
it's charging.
**So how I’m understanding this… When watch is on the wrist, it is always
unlocked? Also, the only way to send notifications to the phone while wearing
the watch, is to put do not disturb on the watch. If the watch is off the
wrist & charging, notification sounds should be heard on the phone. Am I
getting this?**

If this is the case, I don’t like this behavior. I have custom text & alert
tones for a reason. I am still wondering if there is something I am missing.

I’ll include the link where I found the notification information.
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204791
<https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204791>

BTW, during the support chat, I unpaired & repaired the watch. Setting it up
from a back up.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts,
Traci

Okay, call them complications but why add more complications like
glances? Apple watch could definitely do with less complications
(standard English).

Hello Traci,

You can customize your notifications in great detail using the Notifications
options in the Watch app on your phone. If you mirror notifications on your
watch, you get them on the watch instead of the phone unless you're using the
phone at the time they come in. However, you can configure any notification to
play only on the phone.

Best,
Anna

Alerts, iPhone & Watch

2016-01-19 Thread Traci Duncan
Hi all,

I am new to the Watch, so not certain about behaviors. When notifications come
in, my watch vibrates, which is great. However, my phone no longer alerts me
with tones. Is there a setting to fix this? For me, this is a big drawback.
I have custom tones for a reason & if I didn’t want to hear them, I would
silence my phone. Lol, last night, my watch was low on battery, so I took it
off & walked away phone in hand. I missed a message because there was no alert
tone.

:) Really hoping the community can inform me on my options.

Thank you,
Traci

Mute the watch in the actual settings on the watch itself. This will make it
so only the vibrations occur on the watch. You should then get the audio alerts

2016-01-19 Thread Traci
:-) I have the watch muted already. I double checked it in the settings on the
actual watch.

Any other suggestions?

 Hi all,

I am new to the Watch, so not certain about behaviors. When notifications
come in, my watch vibrates, which is great. However, my phone no longer
alerts me with tones. Is there a setting to fix this? For me, this is a
big drawback. I have custom tones for a reason & if I didn’t want to hear
them, I would silence my phone. Lol, last night, my watch was low on
battery, so I took it off & walked away phone in hand. I missed a message
because there was no alert tone.

:) Really hoping the community can inform me on my options.

 Thank you,
 Traci

Re: Alerts, iPhone & Watch

2016-01-19 Thread John Panarese
There is also a setting on the iPhone side of the watch app that says
something about the watch mirroring the iPhone. You might want to turn that off.

 Hello Traci,

You can customize your notifications in great detail using the
Notifications options in the Watch app on your phone. If you mirror
notifications on your watch, you get them on the watch instead of the
phone unless you're using the phone at the time they come in. However, you
can configure any notification to play only on the phone.

Hello, I looked in the various notification & message settings in the Apple
Watch app… so far, I am unsuccessful at having vibration alerts on my wrist and
sound alerts on my phone. Does anyone know if this particular thing is possible?

Thank you,
Traci
