RE: question about the life proof case for the iPhone 5

2013-07-23 Thread Andrew Head
Hi all,
I'm happy to say I bought the case. My Dad and I opened it up and had a
look, and the case already had a screw at the bottom. I assume that's the
one to seal the headphone jack?
There was another screw attached to a cable with what looked like a
headphone plug at one end. I'm sure there is a diagram in the manual so Dad
will probably see how this works and can show me, but thought I'd ask on
here as well, how does this second screw and cable work?
God bless,
Andrew

As I understand it, there are 2 earphone screw plugs, one that allows
you to use a headset, and one that just screws into the phone sealing
the port so no water gets in. is this correct?
Do you just screw these in by hand, or do you need a screw driver?
Also, what about the charging port? How is that sealed and how do you
access it when the phone needs charging?

 Hi Peggy,

No offense, but that is exactly what I said. It does of course help if
you read somebody's entire message and not just the first line or
paragraph.
Once again, this is not meant in a bad way, just pointing it out for
down the road when you feel it necessary to correct somebody who in
fact didn't require correcting. If you don't know what I am talking
about please review my message which is still in this conversation.

One other thing I'd like to point out though is the fact that if you
want the case to be fully waterproof yet you may not want to use it
with a headset all the time, it is necessary to always carry that
little screw-in plug with you since simply unplugging the headset will
maintain water proof status, but there will be no Voiceover because
iOS still thinks a headset is plugged in. You would have to unscrew
and remove the entire adapter which then opens up the hole for the headset
and then screw in the little plug.

 Sieghard

Hi Anderew,

The LifeProof case only comes with one screw in place for the headphones. There
is an adapter that comes with the case that you screw in for the waterproof
listening. You do not need a screw driver to get this screw open although great
fingernails help.

The charger door is where you again use a fingernail to gently pull it open to
charge the unit.

Hope this helps,

One other thing I'd like to point out though is the fact that if you want

The Lifeproof case causes no problems with screen navigation or with audio. It
is a thinner profile than Otterbox. I would recommend it.

Can anyone hear recommended a slimmer otter box case or a other brand of case

Re: question about the life proof case for the iPhone 5

2013-07-20 Thread Lisa belville
Peggy are the ports sealed in the case but accessible or how do you use the
headphone jack if it's not a Bluetooth connection? I thought this was a
waterproof rather than just water resistant case, so was just curious.

Also what kind of headphones can you use. The cases I currently have will
only allow me to use headphones with cables the same size as the Apple
earbuds that came with the iPhone. I don't mean the size of the jack, I
mean the case cutout for the headphone is too narrow to allow me to connect
headphones unless their cable is as narrow as the Apple earbuds. That cable
is narrow enough to slip into the case and connect the jack to the phone.

Hope this makes since.

wish there was an easier way to get to the headphone jack, but other than that,

They do that so that the case remains waterproof. If it was simply covered by
rubber or something, the case wouldn't be nearly as amazing as it is.
