RE: Mark on the Aftershock (Shock) Open Run Pro and Open Fit Bluetooth Headphones for iPhone

2024-02-16 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Mary,

If you have either the Open Run Pro or Open Fit model, you can easily enable
and disable multipoint pairing via the iOS Shock app. After the app is opened
and connected to your headset, simply go to Settings and select Multipoint
Pairing. Toggle the switch to, on, and have VoiceOver read the simple pairing
instructions on the display. This feature does not require eyesight to enable
or to use.

Well, that’s what I thought should happen. So I pair to my iPhone. Locked it,
pair to my iPad no problems, lock that. Come back to the iPhone, it absolutely
doesn’t work. I’ve done it several times over two days, and it’s just not
working. I guess I should unpaired it and try it again. Otherwise, I guess I
have to send them back which is too bad, because they meet my use case. But I
need them to work on two devices, one for workouts and the other for zoom. So,
if they don’t work they’ll go back and I’m SOL again.

How do I pair Opencomm with multiple devices?

Opencomm offers multipoint pairing, which allows users to connect to two
devices at the same time.
While you won’t receive audio from both devices at the same time, you’ll be
able to seamlessly transition from one device to the other.
To pair multiple devices through multipoint pairing:

1. Start with your Opencomm off.
2. Press and hold volume+ until Audrey says “pairing” and the LED indicator
flashes red and blue.
3. Press and hold the multifunction button and volume+ button for 3
seconds.Audrey says "multipoint enabled."
4. Open your first device's Bluetooth® menu and select "Opencomm by
Shokz."Audrey says "connected"
5. Turn your Opencomm off.
6. Re-enter pairing mode by pressing and holding volume+ until Audrey says
“pairing”and the LED indicator flashes red and blue.
7. Open your second device's Bluetooth® menu and select "Opencomm by
Shokz."Audrey says "connected."
8. Turn your Opencomm off.
9. Turn your Opencomm on. Your Opencomm are now connected to both devices.

Does anyone on this list who has the open fit headphones have a full proof
way of changing from one paired device to the other paired device, assuming
you have two devices paired? I can’t do it. My iPhone just will not
reconnect.

Re: Mark on the Aftershock (Shock) Open Run Pro and Open Fit Bluetooth Headphones for iPhone

2024-02-15 Thread Mary Otten
Well, that’s what I thought should happen. So I pair to my iPhone. Locked it,
pair to my iPad no problems, lock that. Come back to the iPhone, it absolutely
doesn’t work. I’ve done it several times over two days, and it’s just not
working. I guess I should unpaired it and try it again. Otherwise, I guess I
have to send them back which is too bad, because they meet my use case. But I
need them to work on two devices, one for workouts and the other for zoom. So,
if they don’t work they’ll go back and I’m SOL again.

I don't know about the OPenFit, but both the OpenRun and OpenComm if you pair
to two devices, you have to be sure and lock the device you are not using, then
as soon as you start using the other device, it comes over the headset.
I've done that with my iPad and iPhone on those.
I would think the OPenFit should work the same.
But, should and does are often quite different.

2024-02-10 Thread Richard Turner
Chela mentioned Sam's Blind Life review of the Raycon Everyday earbuds.
Below is the link to Sam's review on Youtube. He says they have 8 hours of
play time and 32 total by charging them in their case, the case can be
charged wirelessly. USBC cable included but of course, like everyone else,
no charging block.

Regular price $79.99 but if you go through his site to buy them and use the
code Blind Life, you get a discount. He says the sound is very good.
Others that have reviewed them were not so high on the sound quality, but
sound, as we know, is very subjective. You have 30 days to return them.
They are the in-ear earbuds with a variety of different sized tips to fit a
wide audience.

They have a 1 year warranty. I personally don't like things in my ears,
which is why I have the regular Shokz OpenRun at $90. They probably give a
solid 6 hours, and maybe more, of listening on one charge and have a 2 year
warranty.

Interesting have you ever heard of Raycon Everyday Earbuds? Sam from The Blind

sure which version but I know it has very small eartips one can install.

Someone else said they are two separate ear pieces with a hook over your ear to
stay on.
This is from the web site:
7 hours of battery life with a single charge Up to 28 hours total listening
time with the charging case A quick 5-minute charge provides 1 hour of
listening time
IP54 Water Resistance
OpenFit features IP54 water resistance and is designed with a double-layer
waterproof steel mesh and gauze for additional protection and enhanced sound
performance.

You can read the entire info at:

I would compare prices with Amazon.

Hi Mike, Well, the problem seems to have solved itself. I suspect it may have had something to do with the iOS beta. I have not had nearly as much trouble with them connecting to both my iPhone 13 Pro and my new, refurbished,  iPad Mini 6. The iPad is on the release of 17.3 while the iPhone is on 17.4 beta. The OpenRun headset has no issues pairing. At this point, the OpenComm has paired consistently as well. Maybe 1 out of 10 times I have to turn them off and back on to get them paired, but nothing like it was for a while. All that to say, it must have been Gremlins. 😉Later, Richard, USA“Grandma always told us, “Be careful when you pray for patience. There is a
standard Open Run by Shokz that was only $90.  My wife and I both got a
pair when my OpenComm pair was acting like it wasn’t going to pair consistently
any longer.
She got the
smaller size, which works for her but she could use one that was a little
smaller yet, though she really likes them.

I do not know what
the difference is between the Open Run Pro and regular…

I am not Mark, but as far as I know the OpenRun has the round
neckband similar to the OpenCom and some other older models whereas the OpenFit
is two individual earbuds which sort of hang on your ears.

Did you ever solve your pairing issue with the OpenCom headset? If so, what
was the problem? Thanks much.

There is a standard Open Run by Shokz that was only $90. My wife and I both
got a pair when my OpenComm pair was acting like it wasn’t going to pair
consistently any longer.

She got the smaller size, which works for her but she could use one that was
a little smaller yet, though she really likes them.

I do not know what the difference is between the Open Run Pro and regular…

I am not Mark, but as far as I know the OpenRun has the round neckband
similar to the OpenCom and some other older models whereas the OpenFit is
two individual earbuds which sort of hang on your ears.

Subject: Mark on the Aftershock (Shock) Open Run Pro and Open Fit Bluetooth
Headphones for iPhone

Hello Everyone,

A couple of days ago, I purchased a pair of the Open Run Pro bone conducting
Bluetooth headsets for use with my iPhone.

I decided to buy a pair because I have a couple of friends who are using the
Open Run models and when talking to them, I cannot tell that they are using
a Bluetooth headset, the microphone quality is that good.

I think they are absolutely amazing.

What I did not discover until after purchasing is that, using the Shock app
for iOS, one can change the voice profile. Kind of an E.Q. feature that I
absolutely love.

The cost of this model is approximately 180 USD.

In fact, I was so impressed with the Open Run Pro model that, just 2 days
later, I purchased the Open Fit model.

With the Open Fit, you do not only have 4 preset sound profiles, from which
to choose, but you also have a full equalizer feature.

The approximate cost of the Open Fit model is 130 USD.

There are several differences between the Open Run Pro and the Open Fit
model.
1.
The Open Run Pro is bone conduction.

2.
The Open Fit, while not sitting in the ear, uses sound waves to conduct the
sound.

3.
Like Air Pods, the Open Fit can be worn on one ear at a time or on both
ears.

4.
Unlike Air Pods, both the Open Run Pro and the Open Fit can switch between
Apple Watch and iPhone seamlessly as both models can connect to, two,
devices, simultaneously.

You can purchase these models from Amazon or from Shock.com or, like me,
just go into your local Best Buy and grab a pair.

These sound really interesting and may be just what I need.
A few months ago I purchased the Apple Airpods Generation 3 and, although they
meet my needs, they are really poorly designed as I struggle to keep them in my
ears and would certainly not risk going outdoors with them. I have tried other
airpods but found they lagged when inputting text.
So, what I'm asking Is, do you have this issue with either the Open Run Pro
bone conducting Bluetooth headsets or the Open Fit model and do you have a
preference? If so, why?

As I have never used the Open Air models, I don’t think I can answer your

Open Fit is worn more like Air Pods except the speaker is located outside and
just above the center of your ear while the Open Run Pro speakers sit in front

That’s about the best I can do.

Mark, I too was not familiar with the term Open Air, or Open Back, or whatever
variations there are. That just means while they transmit sound your ears are
open to hear the surrounding environment, while bone conduction use vibrations
through the bones to provide the sound.

The approximate cost of the Open Fit model is 130 USD.

There are several differences between the Open Run Pro and the Open Fit model.
1.
The Open Run Pro is bone conduction.

2.
The Open Fit, while not sitting in the ear, uses sound waves to conduct the
sound.

3.
Like Air Pods, the Open Fit can be worn on one ear at a time or on both ears.

4.
Unlike Air Pods, both the Open Run Pro and the Open Fit can switch between
Apple Watch and iPhone seamlessly as both models can connect to, two, devices,
simultaneously.

You can purchase these models from Amazon or from Shock.com or, like me, just
go into your local Best Buy and grab a pair.

Sieghard is correct.

The big different between the Open Run and OpenComm is that the OPenComm has a
boom microphone while the Open Run is built-in.

It does sound fine to others I have spoken with.

The OpenComm might sound a little better I haven’t done a side-by-side
comparison.

meet my needs, they are really poorly designed as I struggle to keep them in my
ears and would certainly not risk going outdoors with them. I have tried other
airpods but found they lagged when inputting text.
So, what I'm asking Is, do you have this issue with either the Open Run Pro
bone conducting Bluetooth headsets or the Open Fit model and do you have a
preference? If so, why?

Subject: Mark on the Aftershock (Shock) Open Run Pro and Open Fit Bluetooth
Headphones for iPhone

Hello Everyone,

A couple of days ago, I purchased a pair of the Open Run Pro bone conducting
Bluetooth headsets for use with my iPhone.

I decided to buy a pair because I have a couple of friends who are using the
Open Run models and when talking to them, I cannot tell that they are using a
Bluetooth headset, the microphone quality is that good.

I think they are absolutely amazing.

What I did not discover until after purchasing is that, using the Shock app for
iOS, one can change the voice profile. Kind of an E.Q. feature that I
absolutely love.

The cost of this model is approximately 180 USD.

In fact, I was so impressed with the Open Run Pro model that, just 2 days
later, I purchased the Open Fit model.

With the Open Fit, you do not only have 4 preset sound profiles, from which to
choose, but you also have a full equalizer feature.

Mark

RE: Mark on the Aftershock (Shock) Open Run Pro and Open Fit Bluetooth Headphones for iPhone

2024-02-07 Thread M. Taylor
Mary,

On your iPhone, if you type in Aftershock, in the search field of the App
Store, you will see the app used to configure both the Open Run and Open Fit
models.

Although every function of the app is VoiceOver accessible, some of the button
labels are a little bit weird even though they do make sense.

The primary reason you will use the app is to configure the sound profile,
(music, Vocal, etc.), update the firmware, and enable or disable multipoint
functionality. Be patient with the app and with yourself.

I just looked for an app in the App Store called shock as spelled in a message.
I didn’t find anything useful. I did find something that I thought might be it,
because it was spelled SHOKZ which is how I remember this having been spelled.
But when I tapped on that, I got some app that was called speaker connect And
gave me a three day trial with a subscription every month after that. I’m quite
sure that’s not what I want. Can anybody give me a hint as to just what I need
to search onto actually find this app. Thanks.

You can also change the equalizer by pressing and holding both the volume up
and down button at the same time until the change is announced.
