Hi,

Right. The home screens are always in portrait mode.

Best,
Anna

Re: Orientation lock: iOS7

2014-01-27 Thread Cheryl Homiak
The home screens don't appear to be in landscape. If I flick from left to right
across the long way with the phone held the long way after trying to reorient
it I still only get the spelling of one app and the number of apps in it. When
going from left to right across the narrow way that is when I get the row of
apps so I would think this is still portrait mode. I was thinking I used to be
able to have a longer row of apps and flick across the long way on the iPhone
but maybe I am confused and that only works on the iPad. I know this worked
somewhere but it has been a long time since I tried it.
I know that now when I go into braille touch it announces that it is in
landscape ode and when I go back to the home screen it says "portrait mode" so
I think the home screens are not in landscape mode.

First of all, is there any easy way to get into the control center? I've
only managed to do it once and I thik that was an accident; swiping up to
remove apps from the app switcher gives me no problem but swiping up from

Re: Orientation lock: iOS7

2014-01-27 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

I think the writer wrote him instead of Home. So you would open Control Center
by touching above the Home button and sliding your finger upward. I find the
status bar method is more reliable.

To make the phone switch orientation, turn it so a short end is toward the top
if you want portrait, or a long end if you want landscape. Lay it flat, and
then tilt the screen toward you until the screen is perpendicular to the floor.
The orientation should shift. Note that the orientation is always in landscape
on the home screens, however, and in some apps it is locked to either portrait
or landscape.

HTH,
Anna

Good tipe about the braille display - thanks! And I am getting better at doing

Re: Orientation lock: iOS7

2014-01-27 Thread Teresa Cochran
One thing to add: If you’re using a braille display, you can use dots 2-5-space
from anywhere to go into the control center.

Teresa

On the other hand, there are different fingers.

Re: Orientation lock: iOS7

2014-01-27 Thread Cheryl Homiak
I'm sure it must be obvious but what is a "him" button? are you using an
abbreviation or am I just not connecting? I did manage to do it again with the
status bar. Orientation lock is off but the phone still doesn't go into
landscape mode when I turn and tilt it. I have no trouble doing the
notification center with the status bar method.

Thanks.

Re: Orientation lock: iOS7

2014-01-27 Thread Alex Hall
There are two ways in iOS7. First, the one you managed: touch just above the
him button and leave your finger there until you hear two pop sounds, rising in
pitch. Then, slide your finger straight up. Alternatively, touch the status bar
and swipe three fingers up. Incidentally, the same holds true for the
Notifications Center - touch the top of the screen, wait for the tones, and
slide down, or touch the status bar and do a three-finger swipe down.

Orientation lock: iOS7

2014-01-27 Thread Cheryl Homiak
Hi all.

I was trying to unlock orientation because I wanted landscape mode for moving
an app into a folder that was hard to get to with portrait mode. First of all,
is there any easy way to get into the control center? I've only managed to do
it once and I thik that was an accident; swiping up to remove apps from the app
switcher gives me no problem but swiping up from the bottom of the screen to
get to the control center seems almost impossible to me and apparently this is
the way to get to orientation lock. The one time I got into the control center
I tapped to turn the orientation lock off but it didn't seem to have any effect
and I can't get back into the control center. Is there any other way to get to
the orientation lock? Can somebody give me a tip that will help to open the
control center?

Thanks.
