RE: Question about Voiceover?

2024-06-19 Thread Carolyn Arnold
Oh, I addressed this on the wrong list.

Yes, Richard had a great idea. I moved Pitch from 50 to 70%, and I can hear
better, when on phone conversation.

Ultimately, though, if that doesn't work, the too-loudness problem is probably
third-party at the other end of the phone line.

On my rotor, volume is at 100% - can't get it any louder than that.

Hi Candie,
Are you aware that you can isolate VoiceOver's volume by adding it to the
rotor, and instead of using the volume buttons on your iPhone you would use the
volume control on the rotor? Otherwise when you use the hard volume buttons of
the iPhone you turn up or down the volume to everything.
Try the following:
Go to settings > Accessibility > > VoiceOver > Rotor > Rotor Items > Volume
Swipe until you locate the volume option. Make sure that the Volume option is
selected and that should place it in the rotor. Now look for it on the rotor
and when you hear it announce either flick up to turn up or flick down to turn
down the volume.
I hope that helps!

I believe you need to have volume added to your voiceover rotor and then you
can adjust the voiceover specific volume from there. I think it might be there
by default, but maybe I change that along time ago I don’t remember.

Do any of you have a hard time hearing Voiceover, when on a phone call, say at
the pharmacy, when they are giving information and you want to punch in the
number for something or doctor clinic, when you want to punch the number for
the nurse's extension? I have a real hard time, and I've tried with Audio

RE: Question about Voiceover?

2024-06-18 Thread Mario Eiland
Hi Candie,
Are you aware that you can isolate VoiceOver's volume by adding it to the
rotor, and instead of using the volume buttons on your iPhone you would use the
volume control on the rotor? Otherwise when you use the hard volume buttons of
the iPhone you turn up or down the volume to everything.
Try the following:
Go to settings > Accessibility > > VoiceOver > Rotor > Rotor Items > Volume
Swipe until you locate the volume option. Make sure that the Volume option is
selected and that should place it in the rotor. Now look for it on the rotor
and when you hear it announce either flick up to turn up or flick down to turn
down the volume.
I hope that helps!

Re: Question about Voiceover?

2024-06-17 Thread Matt White
I believe you need to have volume added to your voiceover rotor and then you
can adjust the voiceover specific volume from there. I think it might be there
by default, but maybe I change that along time ago I don’t remember.

Re: Question about Voiceover?

2024-06-17 Thread 'Candie Stiles' via VIPhone
Yes I have a difficult time hearing voice over. The voice or music on the other
end of the line is much louder, and when I turn the volume up to hear voice
over, the volume on the other end becomes louder drowning out voice over. I
haven't figured out how to fix this.

I guess I should add that what I described below is what I am doing in
the privacy of my own home.

If I were out in public and making calls where I had to enter sensitive
information, then I would definitely make sure my screen curtain is on
and I would certainly be using earbuds or earphones of some sort.

I had volume in my Rotor before, but grew tired of inadvertently changing it.

I have a Braille display also, and use Hearing aids with Bluetooth. My personal

Re: Question about Voiceover and Bluetooth.

Or, turn Audio Ducking ON?

I had volume in my Rotor before, but grew tired of inadvertently
changing it.

I have a Braille display also, and use Hearing aids with Bluetooth. My
personal preference is to leave Audio Ducking OFF.

Question about VoiceOver Routing

2015-10-09 Thread Robin Frost
Hi,
If this has been addressed already and I missed I do apologize in advance.
Suddenly at random times when I use a two finger double tap to start dictation
within an edit field and then use two finger double tap to stop dictation
suddenly VoiceOver is routed through the earpiece of the phone rather than its
speaker. It’s happened twice in two different apps and once it does the only
way out seems to be a reboot. Playing with volume, audio ducking or turning
VoiceOver on and off has no bearing.
This is on an iPhone 6sPlus which was initially set up as a new device and then
restored from an iCloud backup.
A call to Apple Accessibility yielded little as the agent couldn’t reproduce
the issue nor had any record of anyone else reporting it. Thus I ask if anyone
else has encountered this running iOS 9.0.2.
Thanks for any light shed on this one.
Robin

A question about VoiceOver and accessibility code.

2014-07-30 Thread Hyongsop Kim

Hello, I’m Hyongsop Kim in Korea.

I have a question about iOs VoiceOver and accessibility code.

When I test some iOs applications, the big and happened usually issue is
fake focus.

In other words, if I’m in a-1 menu anda prior menu contents is gone from
the real screen.

But VoiceOver reads prior menus and real a-1 menus when I flick to the
right.

Another example is the layer.

Some layer is opened, VoiceOver reads prior contents that before layer was
opened.

So screen reader users may hard to distinguish which focuses are real.

Let’s think about Google Drive app.

An app, there is a main menu button and the button is run as a layer.

But strangely, when I opened main menu button layer, there is a search my
drive edit box, but this edit box is not real focus.

I’m wondering why this issue is happened?

Is this reason that VoiceOver can’t distinguish hide contents and real
contents?

What is the method to sove the problem?

Thank y.

actually, thanks hoteling me that. i am going to go to compact cuz the higher
qualities are taking up a lot of memory. and when i upgraded to 6 i thought it
would help the lag?but, huh no. it certainly did not. actually, it skips more.
if this keeps up, i'm probably going to downgrade if possible, i am thinking of
going to get this phone looked at, or a new one. Morgan.

Re: Question about VoiceOver

2012-09-19 Thread David Chittenden
This means iOS removed the full voice (for whatever reason). The voice will be
recovered at some point, whilst your iPhone is plugged in, has wifi access, the
screen is locked, and you are not using the phone. For me, it took four days
the last time VO removed my full voice. In my case, the full voice was removed
because I changed my default language to Australian English. VO keeps only one
full voice since each voice is a couple hundred MB.

RE: Question about VoiceOver

2012-09-19 Thread Cristobal
That's the thing that I'm not able to find since upgrading. I can't find the
compact/high quality voice option in either VoiceOver option or within
Accessibility.
I thought maybe that my compact voice option had somehow been switched over
the more scratchy high quality voice, but when I went to look for that
toggle, no dice.

Do you mean that the voice isn't as good quality?

As of iOS 5 (last year's update), VoiceOver comes with a set of very decent,
but still lower quality, voices by default. These are called 'compact'
voices.

A higher quality voice will eventually download for your primary language.
To get it to download, hook up your phone to power, make sure it's connected
to WI-FI, and then lock the screen. The voice should download within a few
minutes, after which it'll be activated right away. Thereafter you can
enable or disable the 'compact' voice by heading into
Settings/General/Accessibility/VoiceOver.

2012-09-19 Thread Juliette
I am playing around with the new operating system on my iPhone.
Does VoiceOver seem more compressed when it speaks?
