Re: Answering a call on a iPhone 5

2013-01-23 Thread Tom Lange

Hi,
I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but I'll offer this suggestion
anyway. My phone is in an Otterbox Defender case, which makes things a bit
easier perhaps. Anyway, when a call comes in, I immediately put my right
index finger at or very near the lower righthand corner of the screen,
where I'll typically hear VoiceOver say slide to answer. I hold my index
finger there and do a split-tap. If you're unfamiliar with the split-tap,
you locate the item in question, hold your finger there and tap elsewhere,
anywhere on the screen. This works better than 90 percent of the time for
me. The double-tap, especially when I'm walking around or doing something
else when the call comes in, seems to offer me much better control. Hope
this helps.

Hi Gena,

I would suggest you ask somebody to call you. Use the earpods that came
with

your iPhone and press the middle button (the slightly resessed area) to
answer the call and see if that works. If you can talk to the person and
the

call does not hang up you at least know your phone works fine.

If you have a landline you can call yourself or, if not, maybe you can ask
a

friend to call you and then practice answering without the earpods.

You can answer either by doing a 2-finger double tap anywhere on the
screen
when your phone is ringing or you can put your finger on the home key,
then
slide it up a bit until you find the answer button and double tap with
one

finger. It's all just practice.

Sieghard

Hello All,

Sorry, a bit behind with my mail.

No that's it, Any slightest touch of the screen when the phone is locked
ends the call. When it's in my hand-bag or pocket I can't avoid touching
the screen.

If the phone isn't locked, I can swipe as much as I like between the
decline and answer buttons to make my selection. But if it is locked I'm
done for.

accidentally tried that owing to had used an Android previously and
didn't realise what I was doing. Habit is useful at times but not at others.

RE: Answering a call on a iPhone 5

2013-01-23 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Gena,

I would suggest you take this phone back to Apple since this sounds like a
major defect. For one thing, if the screen is really locked you should be
able to touch it all day long without any sort of reaction from the phone,
after all, locked is locked and you lock it to prevent it from doing
anything. Even if Voiceover is off touching the screen when the phone is
locked won't do anything until you press either the home or power button. A
single press will bring up the Slide to unlock control and the camera
button at the bottom right of the screen, a double press of the home key
will also bring up playback controls, Previous, Play/Pause and Next as well
as the Airplay button if you are in range of an airplay device and the
volume control.

Good luck,
Sieghard

Two finger double tap answers and ends phone calls. You can practice the
gesture in the practice area - settings, general, accessibility, voice-over,
practice area. This is how I always answer my iPhone.

Oh, do not press the power button whilstill the iPhone is ringing. Pressing
power button automatically sends the call to voice mail.
