I wonder how many times I've mentioned that to the SpeedDots people, for
mBraille, now iOs braille; same layout, so would work both; but they don't
seem to be listening.

As a thought, and I did do this; since screen protectors are quite flexible
as plastic, I took a new one, and having measured a bit, folded it just
above where I reckon the top of the ordinary keyboard should have been. I
creased it, flattened it out, then fitted it. The line remains forever as a
datum point, and it was pretty close, so did the guiding job even if not
spot on.

In short, Anybody could bodge about with a stylus, ballpoint or whatever and

professional.

Doesn't work so well when you have a case with builtin screen cover, but
have been known to cut that out with a Stanley knife and put a SpeedDots

good.

I pretty much always use cases with a built-in screen protector, such as the
OtterBox Defender or Griffin Survivor. For the first little while that I had
my iPhone 4, I used a Pixelspec HD case with a Solona screen protector, but
the protector kept getting pushed up on the sides by the case. I ended up
removing the protector and the case, and switching to an OtterBox Defender.
When that broke some time after getting my iPhone 4S, (the case lasted about
four years for me) I moved to a Griffin Survivor.

When I get my new iPhone six, I'll most likely be moving back to the
OtterBox defender again, since I like that style of case and clip better
then the Griffin Survivor. The Defender allows easier access to the camera
then does the Survivor. This was by design, as the Survivor has been made to
comply with higher military specifications in regards to how much dirt,
dust, moisture, etc. to protect against. The Survivors clip also grips the
case in such a way that the charging port is unable to be accessed, and the
Defender does not.

I haven't yet decided if I'm going to get a tactile screen protector from
Speeddots that works with my iPhone 6's Defender case. Lol. It looks like
I've made up my mind that I'm going to get an OtterBox cup of defender case
for my new iPhone, as I'm talking like I have already decided to do so.

Thanks,
Ari

Kind of sounds like one of those sheets from a raised line drawing kit would
work as a home made screen protector. Put the sheet onto the phone and have
someone draw what you want, where it is as they see it through the sheet on
the screen of the iDevice , then secure it with double sided tape.

Hi.

Now you mention screen protectors. Is there anyone who has got the
idea to make a screen protector with some tactile marks that would
allow you more easily to place your fingers correct when typing in
braille with mbraille or with apples new teriffic braille input.

Best regards Annie.

I have to agree, my 4S was put in one about 2-1/2 years ago and it came out
today only time, my 6 in in an Otterbox and it will probably never come out
either as it seems as I get older I tend to drop things a bit more often. I
don’t care that it makes the phone a bit thicker, It makes me feel better
about the phone and that edge helps me locating things.

They gave me both cases back, just what I did not need.

I have the version which has about a dozen marks on it. The F and J keys
are marked as well as the shift and delete keys on the virtual keyboard.
The locations in the dock are marked and then some common locations for
buttons, like the previous button in the email app, are marked around
the top of the screen. I'm not sure it helps me much with typing
accuracy, but I do think it helps me get oriented to the virtual
keyboard more quickly, especially when I'm using the phone in a
non-traditional way, like with just one hand.

I like the tactile screen protectors, but I don't have trouble using an

Hi.

Now you mention screen protectors. Is there anyone who has got the idea
to make a screen protector with some tactile marks that would allow you
more easily to place your fingers correct when typing in braille with
mbraille or with apples new teriffic braille input.

Best regards Annie.

My wife tosses her phone into her purse, and she uses both a case and

I'd say whether you want to use a screen protector comes down to how

I agree, I used to have a tactile screen protector on my 4S and while I
haven't bought one for my 5S, swiping is definitely not a problem since the
tactile markings are so small.

I don't find they inhibit swiping at all, and when I'm in a situation
where I have the phone at an angle and I'm using just one hand they can
help to keep my swipes horizontal. They also help orienting yourself to
the phone and the screen and locating objects by touch. Obviously they
aren't needed, but they can be useful and they don't inhibit swiping or
have any negative side effects at all.

I have to agree, my 4S was put in one about 2-1/2 years ago and it came out
today only time, my 6 in in an Otterbox and it will probably never come out
either as it seems as I get older I tend to drop things a bit more often. I
don’t care that it makes the phone a bit thicker, It makes me feel better about
the phone and that edge helps me locating things.

They gave me both cases back, just what I did not need.

protector kept getting pushed up on the sides by the case. I ended up removing
the protector and the case, and switching to an OtterBox Defender. When that
broke some time after getting my iPhone 4S, (the case lasted about four years
for me) I moved to a Griffin Survivor.

When I get my new iPhone six, I'll most likely be moving back to the OtterBox
defender again, since I like that style of case and clip better then the
Griffin Survivor. The Defender allows easier access to the camera then does the
Survivor. This was by design, as the Survivor has been made to comply with
higher military specifications in regards to how much dirt, dust, moisture,
etc. to protect against. The Survivors clip also grips the case in such a way
that the charging port is unable to be accessed, and the Defender does not.

I haven't yet decided if I'm going to get a tactile screen protector from
Speeddots that works with my iPhone 6's Defender case. Lol. It looks like I've
made up my mind that I'm going to get an OtterBox cup of defender case for my
new iPhone, as I'm talking like I have already decided to do so.

Thanks,

As long as you don't throw your phone in pockets with keys and other metal

I think screen protectors can help with screen glare, and fingerprints on your

At least twice I bought screenprotectors for iPhone and iPad and then decided I
was happier without them and peeled them off. So I won't be talking myself into
spending any more money on screen protectors. But that's just for me
personally. For those who like them I say: Go for it! I bought the Speeddots
ones a couple of times and also tried regular ones that came with a case I also
tried. No more cases either!

I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.
I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper
thrown in the trash!
Then God gave me a new heart and life:
His joy for my despairing tears!
And now, every day:
This I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

Another reason to keep your phone in a case with a built-in screen protevtor is
to prevent mess to your screen while cooking. I use my phone to look at

Screen protectors are to, well, protect the screen. Anything I can get to
protect my expensive electronic device, I'll get it. If the screen gets
scratched, chipped, or whatever the case may be, functionality may be lost.
Screen protector?? You betcha. Not one with dots, though, as I think they
will inhibit smooth swiping, like traveling on a bumpy road rather than a
smooth one.

Re: Any thoughts on screen protectors?

2014-09-27 Thread Cheryl Homiak
Mine with dots didn't inhibit swiping. I just didn't like them. I've had to
wipe my phone off with a fiber bloth but I've never had scratches though of
course there's always the possibility of a first time.

--
Cheryl

I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.
I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper
thrown in the trash!
Then God gave me a new heart and life:
His joy for my despairing tears!
And now, every day:
This I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

will inhibit smooth swiping, like traveling on a bumpy road rather than a
 smooth one.

I don’t have any right now on my new phone.

I did in the past pay a lot for a Zag, which I ended up taking off because it
wasn’t completely smooth. It seemed a little sticky when trying to move around
the screen. It wouldn’t bother people who could see because they would place
their finger where it needed to be before tapping. I then put on a way less
expensive one that was like glass and that worked fine for me.

Take care,

I think the SpeedDots tactile screen protectors are excellent. And with Direct
Touch Typing, they can be of real benefit on larger screens.
I'm not sure if they have them out for the new models of iPhone yet, but I'll
be getting one for the 6 Plus when I can.

2014-09-26 Thread Gmail
I pretty much always use cases with a built-in screen protector, such as the
OtterBox Defender or Griffin Survivor. For the first little while that I had my
iPhone 4, I used a Pixelspec HD case with a Solona screen protector, but the
protector kept getting pushed up on the sides by the case.

Thanks,
Ari
