RE: Apple tv with voiceover

2020-06-29 Thread Simon A Fogarty
No siri doesn’t work in new Zealand on an apple tv 4k either,

It’s not an issue with the tv
It’s an issue with apples siri services and action between the shows on the tv

It is quite simple. After you plug it to a power outlet and to the tv, the
device will start. To turn Voiceover on, press the back button three times and
it will start speaking. The back button is the first on the left side of the
remote, right velow the trackpad.
To turn audio descriptions, you need to do it from the accessibility settings.
This will only affect movies from Apple. to turn it on on other platforms, you
will find it in the language settings of that particular app.

best.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. The button performs as the back button, and
the home button to the right of it is the equivalent of the home button on an

Hi,
I got an Apple TV recently and I am wondering if there are any games that are
accessible with voiceover to play.

Hello.

This will only affect movies from Apple. to turn it on on other platforms, you
will find it in the language settings of that particular app.

best.

Apple TV doesn't give you access to regular TV. It gives you access to
iTunes content as well as content from some streaming services. I'd
suggest checking out the What's on Apple TV page at

RE: apple tv and voiceover

2013-12-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Larry,

You might want to try different HdMI cables. I am no expert, but there are
different HDMI standards. I have my Apple TV connected to one of the 6 HDMI
inputs of my sony home theatre receiver and it works flawlessly.
Theoretically it should work fine and the point of having a home theatre
system is that you connect all your devices to the receiver, get the sound
through the speakers and only have a single connection to the TV to deliver
the picture to the TV. I usually don't even ever turn on my TV unless I have
company.

RE: apple tv and voiceover

2013-12-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Will,

Just to avoid people getting comfused, there is no such thing as a
composit cable that works with the Apple TV. The Apple TV has only 2 types
of outputs, HDMI and Optical Audio. The HDMI which I assume you mean when
you say composit is the connector which looks a little bit like a USB port
and the single cable delivers both audio and video, HDMI stands for High
Definition Media Interface. The digital optical connector is a small square
connector and it is also a digital signal, but it's audio only. Most modern
receivers have both HDMI and optical audio inputs.

The term composit is actual the correct term for the old RCA connection,
an analogue connection with 2 cables (usually put together in a single
cable) and they are usually red and white for left and right channel.
There are also 3-lead cables which were used by old VCR players
in addition to a third connector which would deliver the video signal

Later DVD players had component video which was a digital signal as far as
I know and a single cable with 3 leads was used and the video signal was
broken up in its component colours, red, blue and green. Audio was usually
still transmitted with these setups with a separate RCA/composit cable
With red and white ends for left and right audio channels.

Hi Sieghard, I think I may have figured it out. I had to change some settings
in the apple TV settings. I now have HDMI connected from the apple TV to the LG
hometheater. The LG hometheater is connected via HDMI to the television. I
turned dolby digital off in the apple settings. So far, voiceover seem to be
working ok.

Re: apple tv and voiceover

2013-12-22 Thread Rick Alfaro

Larry,

In that case I suggest you give Apple support a call. I have my Apple TV
plugged into my HT receiver via HDMI. In fact I have several other
components connected to the receiver via HDMI. I only have 1 HDMI cable
going from the HDMI out port on my receiver to the HDMI 1 port on my TV.
There is no digital out cable used at all and VO has no lag whatsoever.
I honestly don't know what else to suggest other than to take the
digital out connection out of the mix completely which could very
possibly be confusing the Apple TV into not allowing audio via the HDMI
connection which is just a guess on my part.

Best Regards,

Rick alfaro

There is no composite audio connection on an Apple TV. There is only
HDMI, Optical Tosslink, and ethernet so not sure what Will might be
doing there.
